What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
I've always found that preparation is the key to taking great photographs. Building trust with the model/subject to understand them prior to a photoshoot is vital, learning more about them through conversation and observation in terms of the way they carry themselves. And finally, understanding exactly what they want to achieve or the desired outcome of the photoshoot. Each of these factors lead to a successful photoshoot.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
Questions are the following key aspects of a photoshoot:
- date and timing for the photoshoot
- location – Indoors or outdoors. If outdoors, your fall-back location.
- final image format required (.jpg, .png)
- number and variety of images required
- future usage of images
- external requirements (e.g., hair, makeup
I prefer a phone consultation prior to booking so that we are aligned on expectations, timing and outcomes.
What do you love most about your job?
The ability to work with people and capture their essence through the lens of my camera is extremely satisfying. Getting to know each subject and making them at ease over the course of the photoshoot enables me to capture the best possible imagery to fulfil their desired outcomes.

Whether it's in a studio or outdoors my versatility enables me to adjust and bring out the very best in my subjects.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
I have had all four of the prescribed Covid-19 vaccines/booster shots. I'm open to working outdoors to lessen the transmission and also willing to wear a mask during the shoot if the customer wishes.
