I love that I am able to watch my students grow within music as well as other areas in life, and I feel privileged to be a part of their lives in that respect!
I love and am very passionate about music, and have been immersed in it from an early age. When the time came to decide on post-secondary studies and beyond, I yearned to be able to continue music professionally not only for my own joy, but to share my joy for the artform with others. Performance and teaching to me are the two greatest outlets for this, which is why I have focused the majority of my time on these areas.
As a teacher, I strive to be the best possible teacher for each individual student. For me, joy is the heart of music, so I try to embody that happiness within each lesson that I teach. Additionally, everyone has different interests and learning styles, so I personalize lessons to each students' individual needs and goals. In terms of experience, I have been teaching for more than 8 years, and have been studying all forms of music since I was 4 years old. With this time, I draw from a wide variety of musical experiences with me that I have been fortunate enough to take part in. This includes studying with internationally esteemed saxophonists, flautists, clarinetists and pianists like Kirk MacDonald, Pat LaBarbera, Kelly Jefferson, Mark Promane, Andy Ballentine and more. I was also fortunate to act as a section leader in nationally-renowned ensembles such as the National Youth Band of Canada, ConnSelmer Centerstage Band, Humber X Ensemble and more.
In addition to in-person, I also teach online lessons through Zoom! Though the online format gets a bad rep sometimes, I find that just as much can be accomplished online as in-person! (sometimes moreso through the aid of online tools and resources!)
If need be, I have the proper PPE and sanitization equipment available at my studio. Online lessons are also another great option for Covid prevention!
