Brought our little husky puppy to Darlene (owner/operator) at K9's in Kahoots at 10 weeks. Markus is now 13 months old, and has been attending their daycare ever since. The evening puppy training classes were fantastic. The staff is amazing. I know my little buddy is in the best of hands when under their care. Highly recommend

Hi Everyone, this is my dog Moxie. She helped me start K9 Expeditions and her story is very unique. She was with me ever since I was 15 years old and she had lots of issues. She would constantly be under-stimulated and overfed by my family. This is my fault of course, because I lived with a family that had no dog experience. This caused a lot of weight gain and health issues. When we started hiking as a team in 2012, Moxie shed 20 pounds in just 4 months, looking like a brand new dog. She became full of energy and less lethargic. Daily hiking had kept my dog's weight healthy and consistent over the last number of years, and I hope she will live a very long life to enjoy all the beautiful trails this Province has to offer! K9 Expeditions was the decision that changed my dogs health and well-being forever!

Amazing. Confident. Optimistic. Fun. These are some of the words that come to mind when thinking of K9X Training & Obedience.
I reached out to K9X when I heard of their proven track record of training and rehabilitating dogs. They welcome any issue(s) no matter how problematic it may be and set you up for success.
If you’re unsure about K9X Training and Obedience, just one consultation is all it takes for you to get a great idea of how exceptional the training will be. I was convinced after one consultation and I’ve never looked back. Having a mixture of individual and group classes allowed my dog to be exposed to different situations and environments. Training was exciting and not knowing what to expect, prepared us for anything.
All dogs given the right training and leadership can succeed. K9X Training and Obedience taught me to be more self confident while training and my bond has grown exponentially. K9X teaches you to strive for greatness.

The Bark Zone
The Bark Zone is THE BEST for dog walking/boarding. In the office they are pleasant, accommodating (even when I call the morning of, they squeeze Daisy in for a walk) and prompt. The walkers are all friendly, crazy for dogs, leave lovely notes after the walk and most importantly, Daisy LOVES them. They have cooked chicken and rice when Daisy has been sick and have been super pleasant with the last minute changes. Highly recommend for your doggy needs.Penny Goodman

Rob and Alexis are fabulous. Our dog is a stray/rescue from Mexico with moderate-high aggression toward other dogs. After a six-week session we noticed a significant improvement in not only her attitude toward other dogs but general obedience including heeling and recalling. Rob in particular is extremely knowledgeable and adaptable to his clients' dogs. Would highly recommend - worth every penny!

We are currently in the middle of a re-training program with our 2 year old goldendoodle. Mark has been incredibly helpful, not only with teaching us his method to re-establish the leadership role with our dog, but has also supported us "checking-in" with our progress to-date, encouraging us to contact him with questions and clarifications about how we're handling a particular issue. Our dog has struggles with separation anxiety, stranger danger, excessive barking, and reactivity on leash. In a few short weeks of implementing Mark's method, we have seen a huge change in our dog. Walks are enjoyable again, our dog is listening to our commands (rather than walking away and doing what he chooses instead!), we can enjoy our backyard again without having to worry about the dog barking at every little noise/perceived threat and we are able to employ techniques to reduce his anxiety before he reaches a highly anxious state. Friends and family have also remarked at how well our dog is responding to training. As I write this, a neighbour's dog is barking at something and our boy hasn't even lifted his head to react. This level of calm would have been hard to believe possible before meeting Mark. We would recommend Mark to anyone seeking help with their dog!

Angel and Kerry are an amazing team to work with. Kerry was great at arranging and scheduling appointments around our busy schedule. Angel changed our world with our dog Max. He's our first dog and a rescue and we were not sure where to start with training as he is 6 years old. From the first session we saw changes right away and finished our sessions with flying colors. We miss having Angel come to our house as he was part of our family and plan to have more sessions in the Spring. If you're looking for help/support with your dog you are in the right place!

I can't recommend Nicole enough. Although we had been trying for a few years to curb some of our dog's anxious behaviours, we knew we probably weren't approaching things properly and needed some professional help. After connecting with Nicole, my only regret is not contacting her sooner! After just one session our dog has done a complete 180 and has gone from a frustrated, anxious dog, to a happy, well-stimulated, confident dog. We have done three sessions to date and the results are remarkable. Nicole is clearly very knowledgeable, patient and understanding, and most importantly it's obvious her number one concern is for the safety and security of the dogs she is working with. I highly recommend her to anyone and everyone!
Why should I get a Dog Trainer?
Making sure your pup is trained properly really matters. Without the necessary groundwork, you’re risking your dog’s wellness and security, as well as the safety of any other dogs it comes into contact with. It’s also important your dog is trained so that it can integrate properly with you and your family. Keeping it out of trouble will save you a lot of hassle (and potentially costly repairs too).
Making sure your dog listens to commands is very important. Not only will handling it be less stressful, but it can stop dangerous conflict with other animals. Furthermore, if your dog doesn’t want to listen to you, situations such as dealing with traffic can potentially become fatal. On the upside, having a well-trained pup enables you and your pet to socialise properly with other dogs and their owners.
Having a dog that is obedient means that life around the home becomes plain sailing. With good manners, your dog will be able to tell the difference between right and wrong behaviour, while being able to foster good relationships with other members of your family. These connections can help to build a fruitful relationship with your pet as part of the family. Time well spent together will allow you to both grow together, sharing experiences and creating the type of memories that make having a pet so worth it.
How about becoming an authority figure yourself? Although your trainer will help your dog get up to scratch, they will also teach you a great deal about the fundamentals of dog training. This includes not only how to handle your own dog, but principals that you can use to understand and better interact with other dogs too. Being able to help out less-informed dog owners can be a wonderful gift to have, and something that you can take further if you enjoy it.
Having a well-trained dog also means that taking your pet to the veterinarian will be a lot easier than it would be otherwise. Considering the nature and volume of work that they have to do, being a vet is tough, let alone dealing with an uncooperative pet in their surgery. In some cases, dogs can become violent when approached by a vet – definitely something they don’t need. By having your dog properly trained, you can avoid injuries – for both your dog and your vet – as well as unnecessary embarrassment upon visits.
How do I pick a Dog Trainer?
When hiring someone to train your dog, there is plenty to think about. The needs of both you and your pet have to be considered and so taking some time to sit down and work out what is important to you is a must. Down below are a few of the questions you might ask when it comes to finding the right dog trainer –
Should I go for group or private training? Each comes with pros and cons – those with a brand new dog can expect their pet to socialise and start to develop relationships with other dogs.
Does my dog need generalised training or would training in a specific area suit it better? One example of this is if your dog has an issue with barking, or separation anxiety. In these cases, someone that can specialise in tackling these issues would be optimal.
Do I need long-term training or do I need a quick fix? Goals such as conditioning your dog for agility or developing a routine will need more time with a trainer.
You should also take care to see what type of strategies your trainer uses. There are a wide variety of techniques that can be applied in order to change your dog’s behaviour – but not all of these involve kindness and care. It’s good to talk to prospective trainers about the ways in which they choose to teach your dog, including methods of both discipline and praise. Techniques such as positive reinforcement are very beneficial for dogs and are particularly powerful, while being enjoyable for them.
While your dog is your priority, how you communicate with your trainer is important too. Your trainer’s should be able to translate their understanding into constructive advice. A good trainer can tell you both what is working in terms of training your dog, and what isn’t. This includes passing on insights of what to do to correct certain issues, while conveying these ideas in a constructive, friendly way. In order to do this, a trainer needs to not only be able to express themselves clearly, but also be diplomatic and observant.
How much does a Dog Trainer cost?
There are various ways in which you can choose to train your dog. Some owners opt for private lessons, while others will put their dog through group daycare.
Group sessions are valuable not only because they are more budget friendly, but also because they are better as a long-term option. This is because your pet will have time to get to grips with a wider variety of commands. However one-on-one training provides your dog with lessons that are specially tailored to their needs, helping them learn in the best way for them.
There are also the various levels of obedience training to take into account. As well as classes specifically for puppies, there are basic educational classes, adult training, agility and advanced tutoring. Which of these you go for can affect pricing, as well as how quickly your dog learns (depending on its needs and comprehension).
Can I hire a Dog Trainer online?
Yes! You might be surprised to hear that dog training can be done remotely, through online video platforms like Zoom. They can take the form of group sessions or one-to-one classes to tackle certain individual behavioural issues. Many customers prefer online dog training for all sorts of reasons, like saving on travel time and costs.
