What’s your interior design process?
The design service process begins with an initial 2 hour consultation to discuss your idea, plans and direct some advice. This consultation is designed to gather information about your project and direct you with professional advice on budget, the best way forward for design etc. A detailed scope of work is then drawn up from to establish a design proposal and fee. Once accepting the design proposal and fixed service fee the design process is as follows:
Concept Design - The initial ideas are drawn up and presented in a Graphic presentation including finishes & selections.
Design Development - The development of the design following feedback from the Concept design presentation.
Documentation for Costing - This is a set of technical drawings and a specification which lists all the selections from which your builder or project manager can cost against for the procurement.
Documentation for build - This is the finalised set of detailed drawings and specification following costings which is used as a construction set for the builder/ project manager / Cabinetmaker / Furniture maker.
On site administration - This involves the site visits, cabinetmaker meetings, builder meeting etc. once the project has been designed and is on site being built.
Which interior design styles can you cater for?
As a professional designer my training has taught me not to have one style but to understand the individual direction of my client and answer a client brief with professional direction. Everything designed at Turner Interior Design is unique to the client and to the project.
My preference is to use ethical and natural materials in design and aim for timeless spaces which can withhold ever changing styles. I don't follow "trends" but create innovative ideas which reflect the personalities of my clients. I like to keep spaces well designed ergonomically and well detailed for the quality level delivered.
What do you love most about your job?
I love working with individual people to develop their home spaces to reflect how they live and who they are. I am also very keep to offer unique furniture design for custom loose furniture pieces.
What inspired you to start your own business?
There are some great designers globally who have inspired me with their work ranging from product designers to furniture designers and interior architects. I started my business while realising the opportunities I have to service a niche market where residential space planning and bespoke furniture design is needed .
Why should our clients choose you?
I have over 21 years of industry experience ranging from working on hotel design projects globally while starting my career in London, through to commercial projects in Perth and over 14 years in the niche market of residential design. I am fully qualified at degree level as a professional designer and have taught design also at university level. My passion is design and I very much enjoy what I do.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
Yes I can offer remote / online services to my clients. I predominantly work with and produce interior architectural drawings along with specification for selections. This service can be utilised remotely as I am able to work from to scale drawings. My presentations are often in digital format and I can be available for Zoom calls or presentations.
I often work with architectural firms who require interior design services for their projects ranging from new builds to renovations. I offer contract design services to architects all over the world and also to individual clients globally.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
While local government restrictions advise to lock down where cases have risen I follow guidelines and offer Zoom only presentations / client meetings. All documented work is sent digitally.
For my global customers this is not applicable as all work and communication is sent digitally.
