Hi There,

My name is Mel Kay and I am a Musician and vocal teacher. Currently offering SKYPE SESSIONS for anyone around Australia & The world who is keen to learn music in spite of these troubling times.


I studied for four years at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts completeing an advanced diploma, and Bachelor degree in vocal performance.

I was accepted into Honours in 2016 and have since graduating performed proffesionally as a singer with Perth band Blue Gene, toured regionally with well known rock band Masterplan, as well as managing, singing and writing for Liberte an original 10 piece band of WAAPA graduates. I have also toured nationally as a solo performer.


I have worked writing for weddings, and also producers from the U.K. (Backfall) as well as recieveing an offer to work writing for an artist management firm in Canada and for French composer Simon Derasse. My first song to be properly published through a Sydney label was Upside Down Town which was released in 2016 and went on to be played internationally. Liberte has also been played on commercial radio stations mix 94.5fm, 98.5fm, and 96.1fm here in Perth. I also was nominated top 6 in the state for the WAM awards for my song PHOENIX (Electronic Dance Music), and top 12 internationally for my song: YOU.


I have over five years experience teaching in multiple primary schools, music academies, high shools and privately. Some of the schools I have worked at are Quinns Baptist College, St. Anthony's, St. Jeromes, Quintillian Primary School, School of Rock, Perth Music Agency, On The Run Music, Music Mart, WAAAM, and West End Academy.


I aim to help my students to reach their original potential. I deeply believe each voice has it's own power and my goal is to help each student to facilitate that power through technical training and the exploration of multiple genres of music.


I currently have a few spaces available and will be looking to fill those spaces asap!


Myy rate is $60 per hour with discounts when you book in for 6 sessions up front.
