Alex is simply fantastic, he knows his stuff, he gave us some great tips and strategies to train our husky malamute cross. He is calm, kind and patient with the dogs. We really loved his ethos about training your dog and how to not set them upto fail, how to work with them to help achieve the results you want. He is also very honest and genuine, said we only needed an hour’s worth instead of repeated training and voluntarily offered to provide ongoing help with critique, guidance and feedback which we are very grateful for. I worked with Alex with my first puppy, a golden retriever. As a first time dog owner, I was able to see quick results and with key techniques my puppy was able to learn in a fun and positive way. Was great having Alex to give personal training in different circumstances so that my puppy has overcome anxiety in busy areas and learned to focus on me when there are a lot of distractions. Alex was extremely professional and taught me all things needed to fix my issues I had with my two Dachshunds who are siblings and my Kelpie.

My dachshunds would aggressively growl at each other due to jealousy and lack of boundaries. Alex was firm and told me exactly what I needed to hear in order to fix said issue. Alex was patient and fixed the problem instantly.

Alex came over and helped me get my dogs to do things I have not been able to do into 7 years. Just 2 hours and they were walking without pulling, laying on their beds, not barking like crazy all day and not jumping one everyone that comes through the door.
He has also given en me a diet plan as my boys are on the larger side. Now that I can walk them without the pain in my showers they will be getting more exercise and so will I.
I can not believe the difference from just 1 session.
I will be seeing him again to work on other issues we have with them but so far I am over the moon with my boys and they seem happier as well. More...

We recently had a newborn and our Dachshund wasn't adjusting well to the new sounds and smells. It got to the point where we couldn't even have our dog in the same house because we couldn't calm him down and the newborn couldn't handle the constant barking.

We've had one session with Alex and had extradordinary results almost instantly. Our dog became more relaxed, calm and obeident. Its been over a week since the training session took place and the results are still there. Our Dachshund is still his usual playful self but has adapated well to our newborn and also become a more happy and obedient dog in all other areas.

Life saver! We were way too unprepared to look after our 13 week-old corgi pup and struggled with excessive biting and no control. Our 9 month old german shepherd puppy is overly excited around other dogs and pulled on the lead while walking. Alex was able to immediately correct him and allow him to be calm around other dogs. We had a very reactive 10 y/o MalteseX and we’re worried she was “stuck in her ways” but after 2 sessions with Alex we were surprised by how much she had improved! Alex provided us with the knowledge and training we need and we can now confidently take her for a walk without worrying about bumping into another dog. We have a 1 year old German shepherd cross collie . Which started reacting to anyone coming to the gate. Alex was amazing and helped us stop it in 1 training lesson. Fantastic service thank will use again

Alex was great to communicate with and arrived right on time as agreed.
He started working on our Labradoodle as soon as he entered our house.
I could see positive changes in our puppy right after 10-15 mins of his session.
He covered all the issues which we had discussed earlier and I am already seeing positive changes.

Alex was a brilliant trainer for both our Husky/Maremma puppy and for ourselves, familiarising us with how to teach commands, adjust behaviour and providing a wealth of advice for living with a puppy - from food to crate/playpens to boarding kennels and more, all in an informed and thoughtful manner.

Alex at Mateer K9 is the real deal!!! I have had 4 dog trainer/behaviourists come and help my Border Collie however they all failed to resolve the issues I was having. The second Alex engaged with my dog I knew he had my dogs full attention. He took the time to clearly explain why our dog was behaving over submissively to us and what we needed to do to turn the behaviour around. Couldn’t recommend Mateer K9 enough! We had been struggling with managing the behaviour of our 7 mo border collie for months. She had issues knowing her place within the household and other general issues such as lead pulling, casing cars and jumping up when meeting new people. Alex was an excellent trainer! He understood the needs of my amstaff straight away and got to work on the foundations of his behavioural problems, which quickly fixed many of our issues. We learned a lot just from the first lesson and we saw a transformation almost instantly with Snoopy in our 2nd lesson. We now know what not to do and how to correct his behaviour and Alex showed us the way with clear direction and ongoing support. Alex helped us out when our lab was just 8 weeks old. It was the first time we had a large breed dog with so much energy. We didn't know how much of a difference Alex could make ! He was excellent. I’ve worked with other trainers in the past and was giving up hope on my rescue dog until I worked with Alex. He’s the real deal. Instant changes in my dog Leo’s behaviour just after implementing what I learnt from Alex in only one session. It was incredible. It’s now been four sessions and my Leo has changed so much! And I have learnt so much. Leo is no longer afraid of dogs, no longer lunges at dogs. He is calm, focussed on me and unbothered now when he sees other dogs. Alex has been so wonderful in helping us to train our toy poodle pup. He is very knowledgeable, caring and helpful! Really quality hands-on service. Alex provides simple, clear-cut instructions that anyone would be able to execute with their dog. Alex taught us how little things like body language and tone of voice really influence the dog.
Initially, our now 1.5 y/o kelpie/lab was nibbling, biting, and jumping on furniture, and when he would find things such as paper or nails on walks he would growl when we tried to get them off him. Our puppy was immediately subservient to Alex when he first arrived and after a few sessions he is now very well trained and all issues were taken care of!

Alex was easy to talk to. He demonstrated some easy ways to control and instruct my dog. We will be spend 4 weeks training the basics then moving on to desensitization. So far going well.

Our puppy recently finished a six weeks basic obedience class with Alex and we're so happy with the results. Alex's advices and methods are very useful and we've seen a huge improvement in our puppy's behaviour. I highly recommend Alex.

The training I received was excellent. The trainer was really nice and patient with me as I learnt how to train my puppy who now does everything I ask of him. Highly recommended
