Running and Jogging Lessons

Jarvis is dedicated and professional in his approach with a genuine interest in achieving improvement. Our son started running 18 months ago. He is a sprinter at 100m, 200m and 400m distances and has competed at a State school boys level. He worked with him weekly and gave advice and training which improved his technique and ultimately his pb at all distances. Jarvis is flexible, always punctual and comes prepared for sessions with a notebook filled with tips, advice and drills to be used by our son. He relates well to our 14 year old who always looks forward to the sessions with him. We highly recommend Jarvis because he is dedicated and his methods have led to an outstanding improvement in our son’s running performances. More...

I was planning to do 2 of the marathon majors in Tokyo and London and I needed a plan to suit my abilities and my lifestyle. Working with Coach Jarvis at Inner Best Running was great, his plan was custom made tailored to my needs. Through out the the training I was able to discuss with him my progress and any challenges I had, and he made modifications as needed. He also had great insight into other dimensions of long distance running such as nutrition and weight training. Overall, I am very happy with Coach Jarvis as he helped me achieve all my objectives, finishing with a PB in Tokyo, then an even better PB in London! More...

Running brings great joy for me and has greatly improved my physical and mental health, and improved my social outlets by bringing me into contact with many great people. I really enjoy being able to help people find that transformation in themselves and enjoy the accomplishment of working towards meeting performance goals.

I love running so much and wanted to find a way to share that love with others. Plus, I'm a teacher with more than a decade of experience so being a running coach fit with my general philosophy of passing on knowledge.

Inner Best Running will give you direct support and advice that you can't get from a basic program or a larger coaching business. My prices are affordable, starting from as little as $30 per week. I am a great choice for runners at beginner through to intermediate level. I have been on the journey of self-improvement, having only begun running seriously in 2019, and thus have recent experience in getting over the many hurdles (pardon the pun) runners face early in the journey, such as staying motivated, following a program and avoiding injuries. I can show you this because I've done all these things successfully, improving my marathon time by 40 minutes over 3 years and running sub-3 hours in Sydney in 2023. For intermediate runners, I have the expertise to provide informed advice on how to take your running to the next level.

I am based in Sydney's Inner West and can provide face to face coaching for those who live nearby. I also provide a full service of coaching and programs to runners via online coaching. This includes regular video conferencing, monitoring of your running via apps such as Strava and updating your program to reflect your latest results and upcoming goals.

A full running program will be provided each week, tailored to your needs and upcoming goals and updated every week. Regular feedback will be provided on your progress.

Advice on improving your technique for both sprinting and distance, including posture, stride and flexibility

Inner Best Running is based in Sydney's Inner West. Where possible, we will arrange face-to-face coaching sessions, at least at the outset, to get to know you and your needs, and do some diagnostic work on your running form and overall fitness. If you are not in the same area, we will endeavour to provide the most comprehensive support possible via remote coaching, including video conferencing, email and phone.

Building and maintaining strength is vital to improve endurance and reduce the risk of injury. We will provide you with a program of exercises to increase your strength, focusing on lower back, hip, glutes and hamstrings.

Advice on general dietary matters but in particular on how to fuel pre- and post-run.
