Absolutely love those old, historic and very British style shopping arcades in Rundle Mall. Architecture is amazing and gives that vibe of old street shops. Multiple businesses and boutiques inside including services such as shoe repair shops, barbers and hair salons, coffee shops. Sadly mostly empty not sure why, if people prefer main stream high street chain shops or is it too expensive, just feel sorry for business owners there, as I barely see anyone shopping. More...

What do you love most about your job?
I love to help you create quality clothing that fits you well and makes you feel amazing.
To make sewing and pattern making easier, to clear away all the confusion and frustration you may have encountered.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I have my own fashion label, Addison Ash which is aimed to make people feel strong and confident.
While I was working on it, I realised I could help people who were in my position before I went to Tafe to do a Fashion Design course.
This was a period of time when I was really frustrated with commercial patterns not fitting properly.
I was unable to change the design to my liking as I had no idea how.... that's why I went to Tafe originally.
Now I can help you to design, make your own pattern and sew your favourite garments without you needing to do an accredited course.
Why should our clients choose you?
I have been sewing for 35 years and pattern making for 11 years.
I have worked in the fashion industry in alterations, as a sample maker and a pattern maker.
I created my own fashion label in 2015. I have a lot of experience.
Prior to doing my course I was a Registered nurse and midwife for 27 years. This has given me great communication skills and empathy.
I also have great teaching skills from my years nursing. Teaching student midwives on the job and teaching mothers how to get through labour, how to breastfeed and how to to care for their babies.
Now I have been teaching sewing and pattern making since 2018.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
I have been doing some live events on Facebook and I am looking to create online courses and a YouTube channel in the future
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
Check in QR code and policy
I only teach 3 people at any one time, in a location that can have 13 people safely.
Face masks are compulsory in class except when we have a short refreshments break where we are sitting and socially distanced.
I sanitise all equipment after all classes and the students are allocated their own equipment to keep track of in class so they don't need to share.
I have N95 masks and others on hand if students need a mask.
Freestyle classes
Very small, (3people only) boutique 3 hour sewing and pattern making classes, with a staggered start.
This allows you individual time to get you started on your project without interruption.
Freestyle classes are casual classes where you choose what you want to learn or make and I help you with it.
The classes are structured with a break in the middle for a cuppa and some brainfood, which is supplied.
Private Tuition
One on one tuition where you have my full attention to help you with your chosen project. It can be arranged outside of class times at a time convenient to you.
Sewing and Pattern making courses
Courses on several different topics are available throughout the year.
Courses range in skill levels from beginner to advanced.
