I highly recommend Alert Dog Training ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Del is the dog whisperer! Freya is a strong willed Giant Schnauzer and with Del's guidance and training Freya has become a well behaved dog, thank goodness. It was amazing how Del trained her through the private lessons and how Freya progressed. The group training adds another level to the training, socialising and meeting like minded people and their dogs and still having the help of Del and Lei. I first contacted Alert Dog training about 6 months ago after attending a couple of other training groups with my yellow Lab Ellie. I found one in particular had far too many dogs in the class. My girl is just super friendly and it was just impossible to control her in that environment. The other one provided 6 lessons and then you were on your own. I then searched online for something more suitable. Almost all of them used food as an incentive which i wasn’t totally happy with. Then I came across Alert and can say I am very happy with their training methods. They make sense. We have just completed our one on one sessions and iI think both of us (myself and Ellie) understand each other better. Going out for a walk isn’t nearly as stressful, although she still gets excited when we meet others. I am looking forward to the group sessions to cement what we have learnt and take her training that further step. More...

Del has been incredible with helping train my German shepherd. Paisley is the first dog I’ve owned myself and the training we’ve done has been a real blessing. I highly recommend Del at Alert Dog Training and I hear Del's wife Lei is equally awesome! I love the fact that Alert Dog Training are clear with the prices they charge and the private sessions needed to train us, the Dog owners so that we train our dogs. I also love the fact that Alert offers group sessions. This extremely handsome lad, Parker, had decided he was king of the household and we ( his two empty nester owners) had unwittingly enabled this. So by the time he was 4 we had a 45 Kg toddler ruling our lives. He was perfectly happy and we were miserable. Time to call in the big guns -Del is so highly recommended by the German Shepherd community that he was our first choice. What a great choice that was. Over the course of 7 lessons Del trained all of us to rethink our attitude and behaviour and actually treat our boy as a dog not a substitute child. Parker has become a different ( and much more sociable and relaxed) dog. Apart from general obedience-stay, recall, heeling and listening to commands he also listens to and concentrates on us NOT everything but us. Instead of being triggered by every dog and car that pass he looks to us for directions and is content to watch but not react. We are so grateful to Del for giving us the tools and confidence to turn this beautiful boy around. Absolutely would recommend staying the course of 7 lessons and putting in the training time every day. We now have a dog we can confidently walk and socialise as well as leave in the care of others occasionally without any concerns about uncontrollable behaviour. More...

Del @ Alert has been fantastic teaching myself and my 1 year old English Bull Terrier "Ace" to be obedient and have manners. Ace would see Del every day (loves him). It's the same story of experience and getting what you pay for. Would recommend and do recommend to people. I get positive comments already on my boys behaviour. From the first lesson with Del (my pup being roughly 6months old at the time and going through some cheekiness) we saw an immediate change in Ivar’s behaviour, all for the better. My only regret is that I wish I started sooner with Alert! Ivar has only gone from strength to strength over the past 7 lessons under Del’s instruction, guidance, and of course, humour 😊 it’s onwards and upwards from here. Del has shown me what it is to be consistent in my commands, realistic with my expectations and what it is to be leader to a headstrong breed. I first contacted Alert when we first got our boy, Storm. After my first conversation with Del, i knew it was the right choice. He has been nothing short of awesome for both myself and my partner, but more importantly Storm. His no nonsense, and very effective approach to training is truly amazing to witness. I am extremely happy that I got Del from Alert Dog Training to help me to train my dog. He was highly recommended by my work colleagues and friends and from Day 1, I understood why. Having Del guide me through it all, has helped me to understand a lot about myself and my dog. Training has increased the bond with my dog and as we continue along this journey, I look forward to enjoying an amazing relationship with 'little Lordy'. The biggest thing I learnt was that dogs respond best to lots of praise and less so to treats!!! Who would have thought! So excited to say Cooper and I have just finished our training sessions with Alert Dog Training! Before we started our sessions my Border Collie x Kelpie was overexcited and didn’t listen. Due to my lack of knowledge and training, I had little to no control of him. Walking Cooper was frustrating, as he investigated whatever he thought was more interesting than listening to me (everything). Del’s training plan is well structured and easy to follow. It helped so much that the logic and “dog psychology” behind the lessons was also explained. Understanding why things were done made the world of difference. Most helpful was the insight Del provided on my dogs behaviour, especially now that I can recognise Cooper’s “up yours” attitude from a mile away. It’s incredibly hard to believe the complete turnaround that happened in 1 year and the impact this has had on our lives! I saw immediate results and changes in Coopers behaviour after every single session. Thanks to our lessons with Del I know how to give commands and make corrections in a way that my dog understands. He is a more relaxed and responsive dog thanks to everything we’ve learned with Alert Dog Training! Since then Cooper has done things I never thought were possible. From sitting calmly at a cafe through a whole meal, to remaining in a drop stay with dogs all around him, to coming on long camping trips and even more surprisingly making it back home 😅 I can’t wait to keep applying and practising what we’ve learned and someday soon join group training! My wife and I were lucky to have another chocolate life - our chocolate Labrador Milo - in our little family a few years ago. Who said you couldn’t teach an old dog new tricks? With the expertise and due consideration Del from Alert Dog Training delivered came a new lease of life for us and a very much calmer pooch. I would highly recommend Alert Dog Training. Lei has taught us and our dog on what we need to do so that we can all enjoy each other’s company. My food driven dog no longer steals food or anything else for that matter. One on one training has improved our walks, stopped the jumping up, stopped the random barking at nothing and helped us live together in a much more harmonious atmosphere. For anyone that has a Labrador, you will know and appreciate the issues that these breeds have. They turn from cute little puppies into giant puppies and stay that way for years.😁 Mischief is their middle name. Thanks to Lei we now have this more under control than we ever thought possible. We just finished our training sessions with Del and I'm so happy with the progress Stella and Loki have made, we saw improvement from the first lesson! Walking them used to be a complete nightmare that would sometimes literally end in tears, but now I can comfortably walk them both by myself without any pulling We have been through many trainers with no success, so thanks to Del for giving us training methods that actually work! I started training with my dog Moss after being recommended to Alert by another friend. From the moment we met Lei, her vast experience and knowledge was evident. Moss responded so well to the training and wanted to do well. With Lei's guidance and firm but gentle manner, training became fun and enjoyable. The one on one sessions were perfect and I found far more effective than large group training. My dog has come so far and it is really wonderful to see the results of the training paying off.
