Travelled 1000km to this place with kids and called the staff to make sure the room is ready and the staff told us it may or may not by the time we arrive. Since the parking was not convenient too, it took us a while to get parking and when I called the staff she was rude and shouted at me saying she already left here for break and asked us to wait for another 1 hour. This shows their poor service and I'm disappointed to wait for the room I already paid for even after letting her know our arrival time which they already agreed. More...

Very bad customer service. The brown lady who seemed to be the manager was so rude to me! I simply asked a question but she was talking to me as if she was scolding me. But then she was being the complete opposite to the white people after me. We were not given the room we requested, and had to switch rooms because the 15th floor rooms smells like chemicals. Such rude staff. The building itself is so old. The lift is so bad as if it is about to be broken. I’ve stayed at other Oaks hotels before but this one was extremely unpleasant experience. It was lovely to get a welcome pack as an Oaks member Great location handy to get to work and to go to local tourist sites. The rooftop pool was great for a bit of sun after work-water was a little on the cooler side but stunning views. The size of the rooms was great, separate bedroom, cute little office area. Location is 5 stars. Amenities are dated but in good, cleans and working condition. Had everything we needed for a short 2 night stay. All staff were friendly enough but we had minimal interactions. Pool and spa was clean but there were people there with glasses of wine which was dangerous but staff didn't care. The "studio executive" room was spacious with balcony. Excellent staff interactions, all very pleasant and check-in/out were super efficient. Location suited us, near Museum station, short walk to Chinatown then the city, or outside the door for Oxford St. Would definitely stay again.

Well appointed rooms with a full kitchen. My room even had a fridge, dish washer, oven and microwave. It is an older building with newly renovated rooms that are a good fit if you will be in town for multiple days. The kitchen is handy.

Overall, some pros and cons to consider when booking the Oaks. But it is not a good fit for wheelchair users.I booked the Oaks Sydney Hyde Park for it's proximity to a gig at the Oxford Art Factory, and for the rooftop pool and spa amenities, which seemed like a big draw over other hotels in the area. Location-wise it is fantastic, being just a 5 minute walk from Museum Station, and another 5 min to the Oxford.But as an ambulatory wheelchair user, unfortunately I wouldn't book here again. I could comfortably manoeuvre through most of the studio apartment-style room in my manual wheelchair, with the apartment itself being very wide, clean and spacious. However the bathroom was very small and narrow, and you could not fully open the bathroom door without hitting the toilet.The elevator to the "rooftop" level only takes you so far, with another 2 flights of stairs to actually access the pool and spa facilities... That was genuinely devastating for me to discover.An elevator broke down on the one night I stayed, as well, but luckily they had two.As other reviews mention, there is a strong chemical cleaning smell wafting in the lobby and hallways, but you cannot smell it in the room itself. The couch and bed were decently comfortable, and the kitchen amenities were all quite nice. Room curtains did not fully block out the morning sun. Aircon was quiet and a delightful reprieve from the heat. Friendly staff.So overall, some pros and cons to consider when booking at the Oaks. But it is not a good fit for any other ambulatory wheelchair users, in my opinion. More...

Stayed one night, in a Studio apartment. The staff were friendly and processed our booking easily. The room was very clean and comfortable. Great location, right at Hyde Park, short walk to Allianz Stadium, supermarkets, cafes, public transport, with the Airlink train stop a few minutes walk. My stay at the hotel was overall functional, but there were a few areas that could be improved. The room itself met my needs, but the curtains lacked blackout backing, which allowed the sun to flood the space throughout the day, making it difficult to rest. Additionally, the lobby had an overwhelming fragrant, unpleasant smell that was and you could smell it even from outside the building. This odor was impossible to avoid, as it hit you each time you entered or exited the hotel. The hotel itself felt a bit old and patched together, and there were frequent problems with the elevators during my seven-day stay. At times, I had to use the staff elevators, which were located in a less secure part of the building. Lastly, the king bed was made up of two twin mattresses pushed together, causing an uncomfortable dip in the middle.On the positive side, the kitchen was very well-equipped, featuring a four-burner stove, oven, dishwasher, full-sized refrigerator, microwave, and crockery. I was especially impressed by the excellent WiFi connection throughout my stay. The view of Hyde Park from the room was nothing short of spectacular, which was one of the highlights. The rooftop pool, gym, and jacuzzi added to the experience, offering a nice break from the hustle and bustle of the city. Despite some of the issues, these amenities made the stay more enjoyable. Receptionists here were always very helpful, especially on our last day when trying to reach the airport by our pre-booked taxi, which was late arriving to collect us. The first room on 15th floor we had was great, with a balcony overlooking Hyde Park where we could sit and eat outside, on our own, which we took advantage of and enjoyed very much - thank you!The second room on 4th floor had a dishwasher and a bigger shower room but no real view or balcony at all, which was a shame.Both rooms were clean and tidy.
