I’ve been training with John consistently for five months now, and when I first reached out, I was a bit apprehensive. His client base seemed more male-focused, and I wasn’t sure if he’d understand or be able to support some of the mental health challenges I face. I’ve been in recovery from bulimia for three years, and separating my disorder from my fitness goals has always been tough. At the time, I was eating only 1,000 calories a day and couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t losing weight or gaining muscle. Deciding to contact John was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, and I haven’t looked back since. I started at 74 kilos, and while my weight hasn’t changed, my entire body has transformed. I’ve gained so much muscle, toned up in all the right places, and my glutes and quads have grown significantly! John has given me the confidence to properly nourish my body and still achieve incredible results. He’s not only one of the best trainers I’ve worked with—he’s also become an amazing friend. John Salmon is the best personal trainer I have ever worked with. He is the ultimate professional, focusing on correct form and thus resulting in better outcomes and no aches and strains. When I initially started with John I told my massage therapist and Physio that I had started with a PT. They both rolled their eyes and said that it was PTs that kept them in business due to incorrect form and over zealous training. However, John’s approach surprised them as he was prepared to work with them to assist my irks and injuries and added further insight and solutions. John does not work you until you throw up (a puzzling goal of some PT “specialists”). He also speaks to you in a normal voice, encouraging you without the need to yell and scream insults at you. John and I have just spent 10 weeks working together on getting my technique right, pushing workouts to my limit and working on consistency in aspects of life that will help keep my physical performance at peak. John is very informative & professional. He doesn't wear a cap backwards indoors, watch himself flex in front of clients in the wall mirror or scream at you to push past physical pain you feel during workouts. Instead he notices pain and finds if it physical or mental with the client and suggests stretches to better performance for the next session. Although he is no nutritionist, he does offer great advice about food portioning and suggests ways to get more healthy whole foods into the diet. I could not recommend anyone else as a home based PT, he is friendly, professional and is always keen to get straight into PT so you get the best value for money. More...
