We frequently host private events, and recently stumbled upon a Catered by Matt ad on Facebook and thought we would give them a try because their Google reviews looked so great. We had six friends over for a celebration dinner last night, and Vinnie was our chef. From first contact, we knew they were going to be great. Vinnie arrived on time and was ready to begin cooking. The three-course meal was nothing short of amazing, and, because he cleared and cleaned all the dishes, we were able to relax and enjoy each other's company. I booked The Catered by Matt team to cater for my 50th birthday party on Saturday night. The whole process from planning to execution was easy and friendly.

We organised Chef Matt & Vinny to come in for a private dinner and it was honestly unreal. Everything from the canapés to dessert was spot on. Super relaxed vibe, but the food was seriously next level.

The range of drinks were great – margaritas, G&Ts, red and white wine – and then got stuck into the food. The cod for entrée was cooked perfectly, and the short rib for mains… insane. Melt-in-your-mouth stuff.

Dessert was a real highlight – that pistachio cream with the red wine raspberry compote was already amazing, then Matt pulls out the liquid nitrogen and takes it up a notch. Bit of a show and so good to eat.

What an absolutely spectacular night - we treated our friends and ourselves to an evening 'Catered by Matt'. Matt along with his team worked seamlessly behind the scenes as we had a fantastic night -' whilst being served cocktails, the canapés came out to the the reactions of 'oh my god' and 'that's amazing'.
Murray Cod with Miso butter and some kind of spectacular pea salad for entree (Genius), 36 hour melt in your mouth slow cooked rib eye again accompanied with the silkiest mash to pass my lips and a jus to die for. Dessert was a Belgium chocolate mousse with an assortment of Caramel discs, cake and nitrogen frozen berries which was a performance in itself.
Matt came out and explained each course and catered for my no dairy pescatarian friend - stunning wine was served throughout the night and it wasn't just me that said 'this is the best meal I've ever had'.

Matt made an amazing meal for our group last night. All of the food was delicious, beautifully presented and the evening flowed really well. We had canapés followed by a sit down dinner, the stands out were the salmon, prawn toast, duck, pork belly entree and beef short rib. We had Matt from Catered by Matt cook lunch for a hens celebration, and he was absolutely amazing! From the moment he arrived, he went above and beyond – helping us cut lemons and limes for our drinks, carrying heavy items for us without hesitation, and just generally being so helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend Matt for your private home catering engagement - he was a dream to deal with before and a delight during the event. The food was delicious, and he made the whole dining experience effortless, easy and enjoyable.

Matt catered a 4 course Sunday lunch for myself and 7 friends.

From the initial outreach to discuss options and quotation, the ongoing engagement and check-ins to check logistics - no question was too small or request too difficult. He was super responsive, happy to answer all the questions and suggested some great options.

During the event itself, Matt showed up on time, was engaging, personable, professional, funny, and flexible to the needs of the group. He was as front and centre when you wanted him to be, and told some great stories, and he blended into the background when he saw the group was enjoying their own company.

He brought his all his own equipment and all he needed from us was stove and a microwave. I was impressed by all the preparation he did beforehand which made it effortless.

The food itself was delicious - highly recommend the Beef Short Rib which was an absolute highlight. We were able to get involved (at our request) in helping to make the canapés and gave us an option to customise our entrees. Matt was very knowledgeable talking about the food and patient in answering our questions as we wanted to learn about the process and elements.

By the end of the meal, everything was already washed and cleaned and my guests came away impressed and on a very full stomach - plus he left us some leftovers which I will be happily enjoying! More...
