What do you love most about your job?
I really love the privilege of meeting people who are willing to open up about the struggles and challenges they are facing. It is an honour to share that space of vulnerability and authenticity. I value demonstrating acceptance, encouragement, thoughtfulness and compassion but also sharing the understanding, wisdom and insight that comes from years of experience and learning. Connecting with people and then seeing them grow through the process, is very exciting.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Officially I’m actually retired, but I still want to contribute to society and do something worthwhile with my time, experience and abilities. However, I also want to be free to manage how much, how often and how hard I work, so being a sole operator and working from home is perfect for me and my family.
Why should our clients choose you?
I have lived through and faced a lot of personal and professional challenges in my time and I know what it means to be struggling and maybe even despairing. However, I also know what it means to work through those challenges and grow to be at least a bit smarter, more considered and far more at peace with life. I bring to my role of counsellor a wealth of knowledge and practical insight from the wide range of professional roles I have fulfilled and also the personal issues I have worked through. I am also a great listener and have the communication skills to connect and share with people in a very safe and accepting way - there may be some challenges to reflect and work hard, but there is no blaming, judging or criticising at Bumyip Blue Gum Consulting.
