Mac is very friendly guy and provides quick service. The quality of his work is good, but his pricing is exorbitant. I agreed to a $400 quote for cleaning roughly 35 meters of shed gutters, not knowing how much time would be involved, as I’ve never hired such service before. He finished the job in just under 2 hours. With all due respect, Mac, $200 per hour is excessive for this type of work. For this rate, you may expect him make it extraordinary. Unfortunately, there was nothing exceptional about the service to justify this premium pricing. The standard gutter cleaning was completed efficiently, but at this price point, one would expect additional value, perhaps a complimentary gutter inspection report, minor repairs included, a quick clean of the gutters outside, or at minimum, a more detailed breakdown of the quote beforehand, indicating the time needed. This simply doesn’t feel good. After I shared my concerns with Mac, he was unreasonable and didn’t want to compromise on the price. I need to address several misleading points in your response, which I find unacceptable in both content and tone. 1) You did not provide a written quote. You simply stated a price with no supporting details or breakdown. 2) I have not complained about being forced to accept your quote, so please refrain from misrepresenting my concerns. 3) I know the dimensions of my sheds, and the total length you cleaned does not exceed 35 metres. Regardless, the length is irrelevant to my central complaint: charging $400 for a two-hour job is excessive, whether it's 35 or 50 metres. 4) I have not claimed you charge by the hour. I simply calculated the hourly rate based on your fee and time spent to illustrate how unreasonable the charge is. 5) I clearly expressed dissatisfaction with your pricing, yet rather than viewing this as an opportunity to negotiate, you responded defensively. 6) I have made no threats. However, your unfair business practices warrant this honest review. Victorian law requires businesses to be transparent about payment terms upfront. You cannot impose payment conditions at the invoicing stage. As you provided no written quote and failed to mention payment terms beforehand, the conditions on your invoice are unenforceable. I've processed your invoice through my standard business accounts system, which operates on a 90-day payment cycle. I've advised and you agreed. You've been paid in full, so there's no basis for complaint. 7) Accusing me of dishonest and disrespectful conduct is defamatory. I expect you to retract that statement. More...

We were having a problem when some pesky Indian Minor birds decided to take up residence in our roof by burrowing under the flashing between our old tiled roof and the new colourbond roof of the extension. Mac quoted and installed gutter guard on our 2 storey town house. He responded quickly to our request for a quote, then performed the work at our convenience. He cleaned all the gutters before installing the gutter guard and even cleaned out and blocked the hole where the birds were getting in and nesting. We had a problem on our double storey display with Pidgeon nesting under the solar panels (common problem) and causing an absolute mess as well as polluting the Rain water tank (not to mention the irritating noise). Mack was engaged to clean the panels and area, gutter and put spikes around the perimeter to stop the mess on the fascia. Judge for your yourself from the pics attached.
