With 20 years of hands-on experience, I am both an Accredited Canine Behaviour Consultant and a Certified Dog Training Professional. My approach is safe, practical, ethical, and evidence-based in science. I also work with a variety of veterinarians nationwide, as well as collaborate with numerous dog rescue organisations assisting families with their new dog, and setting them both up for success. I specialise in a wide spectrum of cases and behaviour, ranging from puppy behavioural development to common issues like barking and leash reactivity to more complex ones such as anxiety-related behaviours, separation and isolation distress, severe trauma, fear reactivity, and aggression. Taking a holistic approach, I work with families and their dogs to enhance their bond and emotional well-being. My aim is to create a relationship of mutual trust by helping you understand your canine companion's unique nature. I tailor my behaviour and training programs to suit each individual and their family lifestyle. I employ clear communication cues and a variety of rewards without resorting to harsh training methods that rely on punishment, correction, or intimidation. Please see my website to contact me for more information.

What do you love most about your job?

I love the smallest achievements in my job. The smallest ones are usually the most rewarding for me because of knowing how far the dog has come.

I love meeting new people every day and helping them with their challenges. It’s an amazing feeling to be welcomed into somebody’s home, and being trusted with their pet that they love so much.

I love working with different dogs and the complexities of behavioural issues.

I love problem-solving and creating behaviour modification and management plans for families to set them up for success as much as possible.

The biggest love I have is when I see all the hard work the family puts in - when it starts to come all together and work.

I’ve had many ups and downs being a behavioural consultant and trainer, but the people and the dogs I work with make my job amazing!

What inspired you to start your own business?

I was blessed to have been born into the industry. My mother is a clinical behaviourist and had grown up learning about behaviour and training.

Why should our clients choose you?

I have worked with dogs and their families for 20 years and I have never had to resort to outdated methods that include intimidation, correction, or adverse training methods. My training programs are safe, practical, and effective.

Training dogs is a science that requires a deep understanding of how the canine mind works. Dogs are a part of our family, and yes, it is frustrating when they don’t respond when you ask them to do something, or overwhelming when they behave in a manner that you don’t like, it can even be embarrassing. However, training them to ‘obey your commands’ using harsh training methods is risky and counterproductive.

I believe in teaching my dog skills in a humane manner, ensuring that they understand and willingly comply to requests because they want to, not because they are scared of what will happen if they don’t.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Yes, I do both. If you are outside the Auckland area, please reach out through my website and I will set up a video consultation.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

I follow the guidelines given when needed and respect each person's preference.
