The website for my new business needed a booking/calendar/payment portal and SEOs,, none of which I knew how to do.
I found Bark, wrote a mini brief, hit a few buttons, and wondered what would happen.
Within hours, Sander, of Web By Design contacted me. We talked. I told him what I needed, he told me he could do it, I looked at the sites he has built, we discussed my time frame, and the exchange rate and the deal was done for Web By Design to do all the tech stuff for me.
Sander is amazing. He knows the territory, communicates clearly and brings it right down to absolute dummies level for me when necessary - so often - and gets things done quickly. We have been in continual conversation by email and text, and a few times on the phone to keep our understandings clear and current, and the project moving forward.
The relational qualities of our collaboration have been most valuable. Then his technical skills and sensitivity to the content saved the day - for me at least. There were moments when I felt a bit strung out and held to ransom by the triumvirate of the site platform, PayPal and google, but Sander had his eye on the ball, guided me through the deeply opaque processes and out the other side.
My only regret is that I didn’t find Sander before I’d paid for the site platform I used.

What makes a great website?
Most people will look for a business from a mobile device. To ensure that customers engage with a website the experience needs to be good at a minimum and better then your competition. Having a website that loads quick, looks good and flows logically is 50% of the work done in getting them to stay on your website and make that purchase, or contact you for your service.
The other 50% is all about the content that you have on your website. The advise we often give to customers for most of their content is half it, and then half it again. Unless you create a wiki people like short and accurate information. We have a contractor with a masters in the English language and Media that can assist with content writing on request.

Creating websites and seeing them come together is a great feeling, every site is slightly different and feels like crafting a master piece that you can look back on with a sense of pride.
Helping people realize a site build specifically for them is awesome.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I have worked for a big company and building websites with them was both great and frustrating. The overhead and delay to get things done can slow progress down massively. Starting my own company is all about keeping overhead down and actually building websites and creating content. I like to just get on with doing the work and talking to my customers directly to see the best results possible.
Being a small business myself I understand that capital investment can be a struggle, being able to offer affordable but also easily scalable websites for future growth for anyone excites me. A good idea can flourish and a website will help with that.

As a small business we understand where most of our customers come from. We only accept work when we actually have time and resources to complete them in the time frame that you as the customer set.
We have high standards for our work and can continue to support you either by signing a contract or on an hourly charge basis after we deliver the website to you.
We will quote any work upfront and no extra costs will be added, even if the work requires more time then initially thought.
