Review of Triskele Assessment and Therapy Services Ltd. by Helen Habgood. My husband and I were interested in having our 3 year old son assessed for giftedness after his preschool made many comments to us that they thought he was gifted due to his advanced language skills and understanding and interest in a wide variety of subjects and concepts. I carried out a web search for the assessment of children for giftedness and found Triskele assessment and therapy services. We live in Whakatane in the Bay of plenty and Laurette Longman at Triskele services, Hamilton was the closest assessor I could find. I sent an enquiry email to Triskele services and was sent informative articles to read about the assessment process of intelligence for children. This information led us to the decision to go ahead with getting our son assessed. Psychologist Laurette Longman was very helpful in organising a suitable time for our sons assessment and was actually kind enough to come to our house to carry out the assessment at a time when she was already going to be in our area. Laurette is such a friendly and kind lady that I felt at ease as soon as I met her. She communicated so well with our son that he was relaxed and happy to do the various parts of the WPPSI IV test. The assessment was fun for my son to carry out. Laurette also made it clear to me what my role was in the assessment process. This put me at ease and I really enjoyed watching my son interact with Laurette as she carried out the assessment with him. Once the assessment was complete Laurette was kind enough to give us an immediate indication of where our son had scored. We received a detailed report a couple of weeks later with our sons scores on various aspects of the WPPSI IV test and specific recommendations for our son and further support and reading. It was also very helpful to have an in-depth phone call with Laurette once we had had time to read the report. This gave us chance to ask questions about the detailed report which really clarified things. We are so pleased that we approached Triskele services and had our son assessed. The information and understanding that we have gained about our sons giftedness has been crucial. It has been wonderful to adapt our parenting in light of our new understanding of the way our son processes information and perceives the world around him. It has also helped his preschool teachers to understand him better and provide him with opportunities to learn in ways that suit his learning style and interests. I have also been put in touch with organisations that can support us with our sons development. I would highly recommended psychologist Laurette Longman and Triskele Assessment and Therapy Services.
