About

The wonderful thing about business coaching is the variety of businesses that you encounter, including the diversity in owner mindsets, experiences, risk aversion, innovation and skill levels. Over the years I have consolidated my own experiences as a business owner, and mulled that with the constant exposure I get nowadays from other businesses that I work with, and have consolidated my area of expertise to the following:

BIG provides an excellent platform for guidance and support to develop your business. The group is facilitated and structured extremely well which encourages a supportive group environment.

I get great value out of the discussions we have as a group and on a one on one basis. We discuss relevant issues and everyone gets a chance to contribute in a safe environment.

Always learning!!

Life is just a journey and the experiences, both challenges and wins all contribute to how we perceive ourselves, the world, our purpose and our responses. Our minds, influenced by our genetics and environment is simply fascinating. The most rewarding aspect of what I now do in terms of coaching is seeing others gain clarity and progressing further in their lives and businesses.

Like so many other coaches, I am sure we will say something similar: It is about helping others. That is so ingrained in our human psyche.

After resigning from the business I started and built up from scratch, it was time to pursue something a little closer to internal calling. I love it!

I am a proponent of the Pareto Principle or the 80:20 rule. Based on that 80% of you should not choose me. If you happen to fall into the 20% category then we should work together.

The challenge with this is that you will not know if you belong to the 80% or the 20% - If you are ready to explore your options then let's schedule a short call to explore the fit.

Remote working has become far more accessible and normal since our first Covid lockdowns. I do both in-person and remote work which come with their pros and cons.

With in-person, it is comforting to 'eye-ball' over what needs to be worked on and is also easier to get real commitment, however remote work is definitely more time-efficient, more cost-effective and can be called on with sorter notice.

Services

Creating a budget is the starting point of managing your business finances. From this we understand what is possible, can examine 'what-if' scenarios, understand our labour efficiency ratios and plan around profit sharing, dividends etc.

I run a separate financial planning programme that draws information from your accounting programme to achieve the above.

Outcome: All of the staff including the business owner will fully understand the business finances and will focus their day-to-day activities to improve bottom-line results - even for those that hate finances!!!

Depending on your knowledge around finances, much of my work has been influenced by principles covered in: The great game of business; open-book management; profit first and Simple Numbers.

In fact, I recommend that you read/listen to these sources to improve your understanding of financial principles.

Business plans are great because if you create them it forces you to think about all the factors that affect your business. The shortcoming with most business plans is that once they are complete, they are never used again, hence they add little long-term value.

My SOAP, or Strategy-On-A-Page is different in that the core fundamental aspects of what differentiates a business and adds value is documented on a single page, and this is then kept alive by being incorporated into the 90-day plans and ongoing staff conversations.

The SOAP comes with its own online training programme (great for when educating or on-boarding new staff), as well as being printable is accessable through the Sukuma software.

The difference between resilient companies that are continually progressing and the others, is their ability to remain laser-focused on working on quadrant 2 stuff in the Eisenhower matrix: Important but not urgent activities.

This is the primary purpose of 90-day plans. Because my 90-day plans are built on the Sukuma software it means that everyone in the company is able to have their own plans, activities can be assigned and everyone is able to work towards common objectives for the company overall.

Businesses are run by humans - humans make the key decisions, decide on where to focus, what to not focus on, how to interact with other staff members and the customers, how much energy to spend on moving the company's objectives forward.

Every business, 1-person to large staff complements, require that the human aspect is engaged, confident and committed to the success of the business. Achieving this requires constant work.

I help businesses set up the structures to ensure that they have the framework to allow the people to excel. Once the framework has been created, the practices need to ritualized. This includes aspects such as CFR's (Conversations, Feedback & Recognition); managing at an individual level limiting beliefs, emotional blockages and conflicting value systems that are often limit ones potential.
