Been training here for about 7 months now and I never look back on my decision. The head coach Kru Williams, is a high level muay thai instructor who has traveled the world in the pursuit of his talents. His life-long fight experience and iq resonates through every move he demonstrates. He is a very passionate, attentive, encouraging, and goal driven man, filled with positivity. The best quality I see in Kru is that he sees all his students as equals, knows everyone by name, and puts in the effort to converse with each of his students individually and on a personal level, no matter how busy the class is.The other instructors have adopted the same qualities as Kru but in their own fashion. Each instructor provides their own niche skill set, which adds variety to the training and builds you to be a more well rounded athlete. The instructors all take their roles seriously, and work hard to ensure that each student really gets it before advancing the class to the next level.Don't be discouraged by the size of this gym and it's outdated equipment in comparison to it's competitors. What the gym lacks in astetic appeal is easily overshadowed by the strong minded hearts and souls by both it's members and instructors. Everyone is there to support each other and grow which makes me feel very fortunate to have landed a place in such a great gym. More...

Awesome krew (and kru). Classic ring, soft mats, lots of punching bags in a variety of weights and heights. Good balance of male/female students. All it needs is a hot tub!

Trained there for a few months last year, good thing and bad thing therePros:1.Nice people2.Pretty solid instruction (mostly kickboxing, some muay thai but doesn't spar with muay thai techniques)3. Big facility4.shadow spar, there's this thing call shadows spar there that is like shadow boxing but with a partner, help with timing alotCons:1.dirty gym mat and equipments, found out that they doesn't clean the gym mat/clean it well, there's time my feet got all dark and water that cleans it turns dark, the equipment there smells horrible and some of it was broken and were not replaced the whole 4 months I was there2.too much pad work, there's time where for the whole month you just do pad work,it gets boring after doing it all the time and without any contact sparring3.no sparring class, your sparring time is depended on the instructor someday he will say do spar some day not,so if you want consistency sparring it's pretty hard to do mostly 1-4 times a month4.price a bit too high, for other places like WKX,kaisingthong places that probably have the top instructions around vancouver and it cost way cheap,WKX cost 100$month,kaisingthong with 1 yr is only 50$ a month, and here is 120-150+(can't remember exactly but it's around there )with 1 year contract and for monthly it's close to 200$Anyway it's a pretty solid gym that are beginner friendly, recommend for people that are beginners More...

As someone who is a beginner and never trained in any martial arts before, I have nothing but kind things to say about Stand Up. Kru Williams went above and beyond to make my friend (also a beginner), and I feel welcome and spent the entire first class showing us the ropes. Everyone who attends the classes are really friendly and egos are checked at the door. You'll learn to fight and get a fantastic workout in the process. HIGHLY recommended! More...

Eleven out of Five stars. There is always a positive atmosphere in every session and the instructors are incredibly passionate. There is a very strong sense of camaraderie among everyone there. It is about learning a martial art, being able to defend yourself, fighting, and fitness. It is also, surprisingly, about recovery and body maintenance. I found that they not only care about training and improvement but making sure that others are not breaking their bodies doing so. If you are willing to put your head down and learn, you will find skills here that will carry you through your life. More...

Absolutely wonderful place for a tough training with highly professional staff and great people around. Had an experience in several gyms and Stand Up Muay Thai is definitely my place. Every class is hard work that pays off in the sparring sessions later. Gym has a unique grading system that allows students and staff to track advancement and pair accordingly. Kru is always there to teach, help, encourage and empower. If you're looking for a great place to train - Stand Up Muay Thai is The place to go. More...

Been attending classes for 6+ years steadily. I have never looked and felt better than I do right now. Everything I was searching for; I found it in Stand Up Muay Thai while practicing the beautiful and fun art of Muay Thai. I came through the door to learn the art and to get in shape and now I'm a competitive fighter throughout BC. Awesome atmosphere with vast knowledge in many forms of martial arts. With consistent attendance I see students get into the best shapes of their lives while attaining the art of Muay Thai which is something you never can forget. More...

This is my first Muay Thai gym I've ever attended and the experience here has helped me become more healthy/fit and knowledgeable about this empowering art. Training here has become my (and my sisters) weekly routine. It always brings me a lot of joy to train with such positive, uplifting, non-discriminating and motivating coaches, mentors and teammates. Super friendly and welcoming no matter what skill level, age, gender, and background. Highly recommend to whoever is interested in learning about Muay Thai, self-defense/control, body maintenance, or just trying something new! More...

I'm a relative beginner and this is my first martial arts gym but I'm very very happy with Stand Up Muai Thai. The trainers are fun, knowledgeable, patient, and give good one-on-one instruction in each class. They make an extra effort to be welcoming to the new people like myself who don't know the ropes. Classes are a mix of bag work, partners, and conditioning so it is never boring or repetitive. I love the culture of mutual respect and dedication that everyone seems to have. More...
