It varies on the type of photography. I might ask a real estate client if there is part of the property they really want to accentuate. For portrait, where emotion is worn so plainly on the face, asking a client how they feel so we can find out how to trigger the emotion that generates the expression and vibe they want.

Make my own hours (within reason), deal with a lot of great people, and most importantly really, being behind the camera is a true meritocracy. Either I got the shot or I didn't, either I captured my subject in a way pleasing to my eye (and my clients) or I didn't. Getting to face success and failure with every actuation of my shutter is freeing in a way that I wish everyone could experience.

I've loved photography for a long time. Long before I understood the apparent wizardry behind manipulating shutter speed, aperture, etc to produce images that I like. I just enjoyed looking at interesting pictures. Taking a break from a previous career that I had built over the course of a decade allowed me to ask myself what I really wanted to be doing with my time on this world. I'm one of the lucky ones who has figured it out. My only regret is not realizing it sooner.

Professionalism and passion in equal parts. I bring the habits and service standards that you should expect from your photographer. Engaged, punctual, laser-focused on customer service. But I wouldn't be a photographer without an artistic side. I see things from interesting angles, I see light and colour as tools in my toolbox. Every shoot is an attempt to tell a narrative, whether it's the story of a home changing hands or people sharing precious moments with loved ones.
