However, I was given an estimate over the phone with reception of $90 + taxes for a gas line disconnect and cap and the total cost was almost triple of what was estimated at $240. I had a tight timeframe and no excuse for having waited until the last minute to find someone. They were quick and willing to fit me in between jobs in the area. They texted me with updates before they arrived. The plumber was knowledgeable, friendly, and did excellent work. I'm quite pleased with the service and would use them again. I noticed a couple reviews here of expensive prices which I think are unfounded. While they weren't the cheapest I've seen, the prices were standard and bargain shopping for the cheapest tradesperson is a great way to have a home that is falling apart. The plumber and apprentice that attended our service call were professional and quick, however, when we received our invoice we saw that we were charged double the amount of time it took to complete the job. We emailed the company back and didn't receive a response regarding what we thought was a small oversight on our invoice. When we called we were told that we were charged "travel time" and also charged the time for "loading and unloading the van". They reduced the charge by 1 hour for the two staff but we were still charged an extra hour of travel time and time for loading and unloading the van. The company stated that this was part of the time and material charge for the services of his crew. Sadly this company came as a 'highly recommended' company to complete our work from a friend which is why we ignored some of the reviews on google but we will not be using this company again for charging an extra hour per employee for extra travel time when it is a 10 minute drive to our house. Seems like a minimal charge to most people but to us the fact that "travel time/ van loading time" wasn't disclosed as part of the charges for service doesn't sit well. More...
