I have found EFT, more commonly known as Tapping, to be very effective at dealing with PTSD. In fact I’d go so far as to say the most effective way than any other method I have tried.

I had Reiki done by Annie, and it was a pleasant experience. Annie is so kind, patient, and understanding. My first appointment ran longer than typical, but she was patient and helped me understand some stuff I was not understanding about my energy.

She was a blessing to me during a bumpy time.

I highly recommend her 💗

Q&As

I love the part of the session where the lightbulb comes on for the client. To know that the hours I have spent training and practicing my craft has allowed someone to release a blockage, is so rewarding. On return visits hearing clients share the changes they have noticed, or begun to implement in their lives, without resistance or pain, shows that what we do together is working.

I started my healing career with Reiki. I was very young at the time, and unaware of the powerful tool I had at the time. I went on to pursue traditional medical healing and have worked as an Advanced Care Paramedic for nearly 20 years on both ground ambulance, fixed wing planes and helicopters. I knew there were changes coming to our world, and I felt the nudge to go back to my original healing modalities. Finding another way to help people heal, without all the first hand trauma to me that I witnessed as a paramedic meant I could continue to help people, but in a different way.

I am committed to learning. I am currently pursuing my PhD to become a Doctor of Integrative and Natural Medicine. Allopathic (traditional Western) medicine has a huge place in our lives, and for good reason. It has saved my life on a number of occasions. Literally. I have the pacemaker and defibrillator to prove it. I also know, Energy medicine has also made an impact on my health in a way that pills and surgery couldn't. I am passionate about bringing them both together so that my clients are empowered to have other options they weren't aware of.

Clients who are able to see me in person, are welcome to do so. The benefit of both EFT and Reiki being energy medicine, is that they are also both very effective via distance as well. I have clients around the world that I work with via Zoom who are very happy with their results.

I offer Zoom appointments to any client who wishes to keep their time slot with me, but are nervous about leaving their home, or are under the weather, but still wish to attend. I also have a regular cleaning schedule using Melaleuca products and have masks and sanitizer for anyone who wishes to use them. I also have rescheduled any appointments that needed to be due to any feeling of unwell I experienced.

Services

Reiki therapy is based on an Eastern belief that vital energy flows through your body. The idea is that a Reiki practitioner uses gentle touch -- or places their hands just above your body -- to help guide this energy in a way that promotes balance and healing.

Reiki has been studied for conditions like pain, anxiety, and depression. It’s a complementary treatment, which means you use it along with proven traditional medical treatments. It doesn’t cure or get rid of any health conditions by itself. I will never tell you to substitute your heart medications with eating the lining of a dinosaur egg and all will be well. I will ask though that when you are in a super relaxed state afterwards to make sure you ground yourself before driving your car and pay attention to the road.

Here are some answers to frequently asked questions about Reiki.

How does Reiki Work?

At The Energy Medicine Clinic there is a soft padded massage table that you will lay on, fully dressed, but without shoes, draped in soft blankets, or with a weighted blanket if you prefer.

Reiki is also done at times in zero gravity chairs or recliners if it is done off site.

Chakras are assessed using both hands and at times a pendulum that has been bonded with the practitioner.

Annie places her open hands on, or just over, different body parts that are the hubs for energy, known as chakras. She decides how long to leave their palms in each spot based on the flow of energy that is perceived through the feeling in her hands.

Even though you’re resting on a massage table during a Reiki session, the practitioner isn’t giving a massage, using heavy pressure, or manipulating your joints. They’re simply using gentle touch at most.

You might feel sensations like heat, tingling, or pulsing where their hands are, or throughout your body. Or you might not notice any changes. Some people get so relaxed that they fall asleep. No matter what you do or don’t experience, the Reiki is still doing what is intended.

A Reiki session usually lasts about 60 minutes.

Who Can Practice Reiki?

Anyone who has gone through the training and attunements and successfully completed the components of their training can do Reiki.

Annie has trained students right through to Reiki Masters as young as 13, as well as students new to the concept of holistic healing at age 58.

The rituals involved in becoming a Reiki practitioner are part of a process called attunement, during which a Reiki master “opens” the energy channels in the person’s body.

There are different degrees of attunement. Reiki supporters believe that:

First-degree attunement gives someone the ability to practice Reiki on themselves and others with touch.

Second degree gives someone the ability to practice it mentally from a distance without direct touch.

Third degree (also called master level) is the level achieved when you fully embody Reiki into all aspects of your life and integrate it in all areas.

Master Teacher is the final level to Reiki when you are attuned to be able to not only share the knowledge, but the ability to empower others through attunements to practice this healing art.

There are many types of Reiki being practiced around the world now, so no one session will be exactly performed the same as the next. Many practitioners also now integrate it with other modalities they are trained in to enhance the experience.

As Annie has learned multiple modalities of healing from both an allopathic traditional Western medicine base as well as Reiki, EFT, sound therapies, massage and most recently Quantum Physics and how that influences the body’s ability to heal, a session with her is custom tailored to both her experience and your needs.

What is the History of Reiki?

According to EFT International (www.eftinternational.org), “EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques. EFT is a practical self-help method that involves using the fingers to gently tap on the body's acupuncture points along the meridian lines of Chinese medicine.

It is often referred to as ‘EFT Tapping’ or simply as ‘Tapping’. The therapeutic effects of this technique are recognized around the world. One can use EFT tapping for anxiety, weight loss issues, pain, stress, and many other issues. EFT Tapping helps us tune in to the negative patterns that we form around our uncomfortable thoughts, feelings, or troubling memories. We ‘tap’ on the correct pressure points while bringing the thoughts or emotions into consciousness. The aim is to find relief, relaxation, and promote healing around the emotional or physical issues that hold us back.”

It is also commonly referred to as Emotional Acupuncture without the needles.

The History and Background of EFT

In the 1970s, Dr. George Goodheart, Dr. John Diamond and Dr. Roger Callahan each discovered that verbally focusing on a problem or issue (emotional or physical) – while manually stimulating acupuncture points – could bring surprising relief in their patients – particularly with regard to fears, phobias and physical responses to stress.

Dr. Callahan was so moved by his discoveries in this area that he patented his emerging "tapping" program TFT or Thought Field Therapy. Eventually, his focus on "tapping" would completely transform his Psychology practice, which was unheard of in therapeutic circles at that time. TFT, while effective and still widely practiced today, was involved and complex. It was primarily accessible only to therapists or those willing to make a substantial financial investment in learning the process. One of Callahan's students, Gary Craig, was able to synthesize it into a more simplified form – one involving fewer tapping points and far less complexity. A Stanford trained engineer and Master of NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming), Craig added key NLP concepts, and called it EFT or Emotional Freedom Techniques.

EFT first appeared in the late 1990s via Craig's popular website (emofree.com) where he made it available to laypeople via low-cost videos. Since that time, it has proliferated steadily beyond traditionally therapeutic circles and taken-on added refinements – many of which were shepherded-in by Craig and his students through experimentation.

Despite some rapid evolution in the early years, original or "classic" EFT has remained largely unchanged. It is this version of EFT that comprises EFT International's model of EFT tapping training.”

But, how does it actually work?!?

Picture this. There is a watchguard in a tall tower overlooking your city. Their only job up there is to sound the alarm when they see something suspect going on or they see something that could be dangerous and harm you, and it is almost upon you! Immediately you can hear the alarm ringing. High alert! You go into survival mode. There must be a sabretooth tiger nearby! Panic! Your only goal now, is to stay alive.

Translated…. In your brain you have an amygdala. Its job is to analyze threats and it lives deep in the emotional part of your brain, beyond the conscious level. It can be very helpful when you are in danger (like when you are being stalked by a sabretooth tiger), and you need to respond immediately.

However, if the threat is only perceived, and not actually going to harm you, and then if the amygdala is regularly being overworked for no good reason, it starts to fizzle in its effectiveness. Constantly being in fight, flight, freeze, or fawn makes it even harder for the amygdala to overcome the smallest of issues, which in turn creates more issues. See the problem here?

Positive thinking alone won’t fix this. Neither will trying to simply journal your way out it. They might help, but we need to be able to tell the amygdala to chill out. That it is safe to relax. There have been studies done that shows this happening when functional MRI scans are used while tapping happens!

Once that control is re-established, the other parts of our brain that are not based solely on survival can be used to choose differently. We can do this when we know we are safe and calm, and we can be logical about what we want to design for our life next.

But, what does that actually mean?!?

Well, let me tell you another story. Say I called you up and suggested we go to the mountains for a hike. We pack a picnic, grab our shoes and water bottle and head out for the day. When we come back at the end of the day, we run into some others at the trailhead, and we smile and share what an enjoyable day we had. We saw lots of wildlife, snapped some great flower pics, and enjoyed the stress-free day in nature. It was a wonderful day, indeed.

With the other group of hikers, you see they had a guide with them. You overhear one hiker says how nice it was to have been taken to see the waterfall, and the crystal caves, and the overlook spot where you can see the whole valley below.

What?!?! Where were those spots when you were out there! You didn’t see that!

Even though your day had been lots of fun, it would have been nice to have seen those other unique sites!

Tapping, like hiking, is something that you can do on your own once you learn how. You can have satisfactory results working by yourself for sure. However, many people benefit from having a guide there to take them to specific places to get specific results. It can provide faster relief for specific areas in your life, and potentially take you places you wouldn’t get to on your own (like waterfalls and caves). This is what is offered by me; a facilitated conversation, using a proven technique, to take you places safely, so you can have specific desired outcomes and powerful results.

But….but….

Ok, ok. Here is how it actually goes down.

You provide the words; I create the conversation. We then play follow the leader and you mimic what I do. I look like a monkey, then it is your turn.

Seriously. I know it sounds weird. It looks even weirder. Yup. It does. It even looks weirder than it sounds….and it works.

How is that possible??? There have been over 100 clinical trials around the world that prove it works. For those of you who drool over stats and graphs and charts, go to https://eftinternational.org/discover-eft-tapping/eft-science-research/
