Shumyla provided makeup and Hair services for my daughter, my mom, my sister and I, for my son's wedding in September. Not only was she on time, she communicated with me so well in advance. First I want to start by saying that Shumyla is amazing, so so amazing! My family and I (4 of us in total) recently got our hair and makeup done by her for all our wedding events in the family and she did such an amazing job on all of us. Our makeup and hair lasted all day and night and we got so many compliments on all of our looks. She created such awesome make up looks on us and was able to bring our hair inspirations to life so flawlessly. Shumyla is also very personable and kind as well. I hired Shumyla to do my hair for my wedding. On the phone she was sweet. However, I was extremely disappointed in the way she treated me and how dismissive and unprofessional she was toward me. She called me the day before my wedding to let me know she would have to come an hour early and that she could only do my hair for 1 hour as it was a holiday for her and her family. On a bride’s wedding day? Not to mention she showed up in what looked like pajamas. When she was done our hair, she didn’t say a word, just packed up her car and left. I didn’t even see her leave. No congratulations, not a word. My hair was nice, but my maid of honour ended up taking hers out because it was so rushed. I have never met someone so unprofessional, first of all she claims that she has all makeup colour shades, and then goes a head and does the wrong colour shade on someone. When we saw our look , we looked as pale as a ghost. We were polite the whole time and requested if maybe she could use our colour shade and she refused( I had my own foundation) , claiming since she had already finished the makeup, she couldn’t add foundation so that we looked more of our natural skin tone. I also asked since we didn’t like our looks could we Atleast get a discount , which she went ahead and replied to, ‘ that’s not my problem, I came and did makeup so you going to have to pay the full price. She wasn’t empathetic that her customers weren’t happy with their look. We could have chosen to not pay her but we promised to pay for services so we did that. I honestly hoped she would be able to work for someone who was person of colour but she didn’t not exceed my expectations. I had my own foundation but she refused to use it because she “thought best”. I know what works for me & she didn’t listen to me.
