We're thoroughly satisfied with Nicholson Landscaping. We had a very difficult site with very steep terrain and no machine access so the crews had to haul everything up and down by hand including all the wood, and even the gravel. The crew was polite, cheerful worked at a steady pace in all weather through most of November, December and January to get the job done - which will let us enjoy the summer without dust and noise. We got updates from the foreman on progress, and suggestions on how to make the job cheaper.We appreciated the suggestion to contract with a landscape architect which gave Nicholson a better idea on the cost, and us a better idea of how things would turn out.We're looking forward to the summer but we're already appreciating being able to use our new back yard, it feels like living in a new house. I can only describe my experience with Nicholson Landscape as “superior”. Our job was small (a retaining wall along 15 feet of our sidewalk was collapsing) but complicated. I contacted a couple of landscaping companies but Nicholson was the only one that responded. Ryan came to our place the next day to give me a quote. It was a day and a half job requiring two workers and lots of equipment. They were able to start the work the following Saturday. Their staff worked hard, were pleasant and knowledgeable. Ryan and his team completed a large scale backyard renovation for us that included retaining walls, stone pathway, new deck, stairs and landscaping. While we did meet with other competitors, we felt confident that Ryan had the knowledge and man power to complete the work to our satisfaction. His guys always showed up early or on time and worked full days. Ryan would also check up on them often. They were very easy and pleasant to deal with. If there were any hiccups along the way, we were always notified and kept in the loop with the progress. The only slight negative feedback I can give is there were some areas where attention to detail was a miss but overall, we would definitely hire Ryan and his team again. We hired Ryan and Nicholson Landscaping after meeting with 2-3 other companies. Ryan immediately came across as the most knowledgeable, friendly and detailed of all the ones we met so it was obvious to go with him. They did a major project on our Poco backyard that included a retaining wall, fencing, paving stone deck and walkways plus some overall landscaping. We found his crew, in particular his foreman Jordan and Tim, to be outstanding. Several other crew were also on site and were also great to have around. They were professional, worked quickly, super friendly and polite, communicated very well and were generally enjoyable to have around our house for over a month. Ryan is a Professional. We cold called his Company for help in a xeriscape that we wanted to have done to replace our nasty looking crow damaged lawn. We also wanted our driveway widened and a gravel pad put in our back yard for my camper to sit on. Ryan came out right away and provided his expertise on what he could offer. I contacted Ryan last spring to look at my backyard and give me an estimate on basically a complete overhaul. His quote was under what I thought and when I got a second quote, the contractor couldn't even come close to Ryan's price.
I chose Ryan and he got started in August. Ryan and his team were great and professional. My one year old son loved them all and they were great to him.
We chose to do a few upgrades on the project along the way, which always happens I guess, but Ryan kept the price very competitive and we are left with a functional and beautiful back yard that we can entertain in and our 2 year old can play in.
