Bereavement Counselling

It’s with a heavy heart that I have to be on this site to write my review

March 16 2022 my world turned upside down I lost my youngest son suddenly, I knew I needed support other than family & friends.

With great anxiety I reached out and immediately Michaele-Sue took the time to call me and ask me challenging questions with great sensitivity & empathy I immediately knew she was to join me on my journey of healing

She is warm open sensitive funny kind & compassionate ,I immediately felt drawn to her methods and energy

Her flexibility & understanding is immeasurable when your world no longer makes sense, she has a gentle approach that is non intrusive and has so many thoughtful suggestions and ideas that helped ease the immense anxiety and pain dealing with my loss

I am so grateful to share my journey with her, although therapy is challenging Michaele Sue eased the vulnerability I initially felt with a non judgemental mindset

I highly recommend her services she has forever changed my life & truly provides comfort for my soul

Thank you

During the past spring I was having a hard time due to anxiety and a high level of stress caused by the whole COVID situation. After working together with Michaele - Sue for a few weeks, I have started seeing remarkable improvements since she helped me to figure out the reasons of my issues and she provided me the right “tools” to solve them. She was a great listener and from the very first minute with her I was feeling comfortable to talk about my problems. I totally recommend her. She did a great job to help me changing my mindset! Michaele-Sue provided a safe, judgement-free space for me to express the grief I experienced after losing my brother in 2019 and my mother in 2020. I got the strategies I needed to cope with the loss of two loved ones and I feel so much better today. I got the closure I needed. More...

Q&As

My work is incredibly gratifying. Although it is difficult work and sometimes painful to listen to the struggles my clients are facing, I know that I am making a difference in their lives. We work together and when I see productive shifts in the client's perception of things, we both feel a sense of achievement and satisfaction.

I've been in private practice for many years, after having worked in Social Service agencies earlier in my career. In 2017, I joined with two colleagues whom I had known and with whom I had previously worked and we formed Milestones & Transitions together. We are able to consult freely with each other [with your written permission]. We are all Registered Social Workers so are bound by the same professional ethics and standards. It has been a very rewarding partnership and I believe our clients have benefitted from the resources we are able to offer.

Any prospective client needs to find a social worker / therapist who 'fits'. I offer a high quality, ethical professional service and I meet the client where he or she 'is at'. I offer a 15 minute complimentary consult so that the client can get a sense of me and is free to ask me any questions about my practice and theoretical orientation.

Currently, I am working virtually, usually by Zoom or FaceTime. I occasionally 'see' clients by telephone, but I prefer seeing them on the screen. I have found the virtual work to be excellent and very conducive to our working together and exploring your issues. From time to time, if warranted [ie; with children or teens], if the physical distances are manageable, I may see some clients face to face.

Almost all my work is VIRTUAL. If physical distance permits and if warranted therapeutically, I may arrange to physically meet with a client. If so, together we will decide whether or not masks are worn. For example, if we meet outside, we may decide that we do not need masks.

Services

Are you struggling with Infertility?

Have you suffered a Miscarriage, Stillbirth or Neonatal Death?

Have you lost someone close or important to you? Are you in the throes of Anticipatory Grief?

I offer a safe space where you can express your sadness, anger, despair as you face or begin to face your loss [es]. There is no standard timetable to dealing with death or other significant losses. I am there to walk this painful and difficult journey with you as you begin, one step at a time, to face what is now your new life, without the person you so loved or the dreams you had. Your loss is profound and it is yours alone, not to be compared with others' loss. I offer support and insight.

In addition to traditional families facing challenges, much of my work is with Blended Families, Step-Parent Families, and Families created through Reproductive Technology. IDEALLY, you would consult with me before you make firm decisions affecting your children so that together, we can make the best plan possible.

I work with Adoptive Families, Adopted Adults and Birth Parents who may have made an Adoption Plan for their children many years ago.

If you are considering exploring an Adoption Reunion or if you have been 'found' by someone via DNA sites such as Ancestry or 23and Me, I will help you sort out what your needs and wishes are and can help guide you through the process, including being an intermediary when / if you wish to make contact with someone you found or who found you.

Are you struggling with various interpersonal issues?

Are you unhappy? Do you feel unfulfilled? Are there 'demons' from your past that are not allowing you to live the life you want?

We will meet together to explore what is troubling you. I will truly listen to what you have to say and offer insight as we work on things together. My goal is to help you become a Reflective and Thoughtful person rather than a Reactive one.
