My partner has been getting his income tax done with them for 7 years. He’s never hand any issues with them. He files his taxes and doesn’t think about it again to till the following year. This past year we officially became common law so even though we filed separately our statuses have changed. It’s obvious now that going forward as a two income household our benefits will be adjusted accordingly.It has now come to our attention that an agent in this company did not report my partners T4 when filing earlier this year, despite receiving all the necessary documents. Now 7 months later he’s been reassessed, and the mistake has now put us in arrears with the CRA. He’s being penalized for not reporting income and now we also owe for overpayment of benefits. Had this mistake not happened we would not be in this predicament. Several calls have been made to the agency and we are getting the run around. No one is willing to acknowledge or be accountable for the mistake. For a company that prides themselves on years of experience and service, they have not attempted to deal with this situation with decorum, professionalism or transparency.
