What kind of accounting services do you provide?
General bookkeeping. Reconciliation of accounts. Payroll. Financial statement preparation. HST remittance and reconciliations. Excel modelling. KPI identification. Personal tax returns. Quickbooks clean up. Quickbooks setup. Quickbooks training. Excel training.
I give the same level of service as I did when I was a Controller in private businesses. I will help to highlight things that the business owners need to know. I will make sure that the financial work is done so that the business owners can focus on growing the core operations.
Why is it so important for businesses to hire a great accountant?
For the same reason you hire a lawyer to review your contracts. You hire a dentist to look at your teeth. There are things you can do yourself, but you need an expert to find the things that you don't even know how to look for. I love the numbers and I love helping people who don't love the numbers understand how their business looks financially.
What do you love most about your job?
I get a great satisfaction out of helping businesses grow. It is a privilege when someone trusts you to help them grow their business. In this environment, I get to experience different industries, different business models and need to adjust my thinking and approach to provide the level of service that each client needs. It is a challenge. It is rewarding to watch a business go from small to medium and more....
What inspired you to start your own business?
I had a unique opportunity (after years in manufacturing accounting) to join a Family Office. In that role I helped one family with several small businesses in many industries. It was exciting to help different businesses at various stages of their life cycles (startups and established) manage their different financial issues. And, it was great knowing that the work I did allowed that family to focus on their business but also on each other.
In this business, I am trying to maintain the same diversity of businesses -- different industries and different stages of their life cycles, but this time help MANY FAMILIES.
Why should our clients choose you?
My passion is helping businesses grow. I love when the business owners gets a report from me and I can show him/her something that was not known about their own business. My expertise in processes and controls that are used in large companies (where I spent 20 years of my career) gives smaller businesses a great pool of resource. And because I do this from my home, my clients get an experienced CONTROLLER at a portion of the cost, because all my clients share me. It is a great boost to your business to have my expertise at this stage of your business life cycle. I am actually excited for the day when my clients are large enough to bring their accounting in house. It means I helped that business grow!
Bookkeeping / Accounting
Using Quickbooks Online, manage the day-to-day accounting and transactions for your business.
Includes reconciliations and HST remittances, as required.
Tax Returns
T1 (personal) tax return preparation and filing. (Sole proprietors and LP)
T2 (corporate) tax return support with your filer. I do have some relationships to help coordinate this for you if you do not have a tax preparer.
Excel Model / KPI Identification
Using Excel, I prepare models to help you with specific business decisions. Models may include (without limitation):
- Selling price / customer quotation models
- Bill of material models
- Labour negotiation models
- KPI dashboards

Bookkeeping Cleanup
For companies who have fallen behind on their record keeping. Get you caught up and make recommendations on how to simplify your recordkeeping. This can also include vacation and leave of absence coverage for your in-house bookkeeper.
Quickbooks Training
If you are using Quickbooks Online and need your team (or you) to know how to navigate -- I can provide customized training for your needs. If you have a change of staff, I can provide training to your new bookkeeper.
Excel Training
I can provide customized training to help you and your staff perform work more efficiently in Excel.
