Hugh photographed our wedding and we were so happy with our decision to work with him. He was very professional and a quick communicator prior to the day. He was incredibly kind and pleasant to work with; he made us laugh all day and made us comfortable in front of the camera. He showed up early to scout out some good locations and we felt he made the absolute best use of our time together - we really felt that we were in good hands. I've worked with Hugh on more than one occasion and after my first experience working with him, I have recommended him to many clients without hesitation. Hugh is so easy to work with. As a planner, I've often had to micromanage photographers to an extent in order to make sure the couple gets what they need from them. Hugh trusts me and we work as a team to get things done. He is great at dealing with the clients. His work demonstrates that he connects with his clients. There's never complications or tension when it comes to changes of plans/timelines on the day-of (which can happen). Everything challenge or moment that comes his way on a wedding day, he takes on with a smile. From the moment we met Hugh, we were instantly comfortable with having him be the one to capture our wedding day. From beginning to end, our experience with Hugh was perfect. He captured every special moment so perfectly, and was such a delight to be around the entire day. Hugh is one of the most talented, passionate and enjoyable photographers I have ever worked with. From the moment my wife and I started interacting with Hugh (at our meet and greet) through the engagement shoot, the day of the wedding and every email and phone call in between, we could not have enjoyed ourselves more. Hugh is kind and funny, putting us at ease in front of the camera. He is comfortable on his feet, in awkward situations and willing to do whatever it takes to get the right shot. He went so far for us, from driving up to Muskoka, climbing over rocks and balancing precariously over the lake, to even taking his shoes off during the ceremony so that he would be silent and discreet for the special moment. He is also extremely professional, cordial, timely and honest. We could not have asked for more. I can't even believe that I forgot to write a review for Hugh! Ah, the post-wedding to-do list. Am I right? We got married out west on Vancouver Island, but wanted some photos at home with the hounds (obviously). I'm so glad we set up some photos with Hugh. He was by far one of my favorite parts of the wedding, and he wasn't even there! He's laid back, extremely talented, and exactly what we needed to get some amazing photos. He was also really patient, which is important when dealing with bored dogs that have to pose for pictures instead of getting to hike. The outtakes were so much fun to see, too. He had some really gorgeous places in mind to shoot in and around Kawartha Highlands, and got a large number of photos in our two hour shoot. Absolutely amazing photographer! Hugh was a logical choice for our wedding photographer. Not only is he wonderfully friendly, easy-going, and professional to deal with, he is unbelievably talented and produces amazing work. Our wedding day was windy & stormy, but he managed it so well, getting all family photos taken care of quickly and also getting beautiful 'first look' photos done before the ceremony (and ensuing storm). Hugh Whitaker is a magician. He was everywhere and at the same time invisible. I feel that every moment that we wanted to capture he was right there , without being intrusive. His photos were beautiful and were a perfect visual representation of the mood and vibe of our wedding. He truly has an amazing talent and I would be lying if I said I never cried clicking through the wedding photo's of complete strangers on his website. I first got to know Hugh through mutual friends and a common love for being out on the water, wakeboarding and wakesurfing.
