What kind of accounting services do you provide?
I provide virtual bookkeeping services. This includes (but not limited to) bank reconciliations, credit card reconciliations, tracking expenses, organizing and inputting receipts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, GST/HST filing, PST filing, WCB filing, handling CRA correspondence on your behalf, providing monthly reports
Why is it so important for businesses to hire a great accountant?
Businesses are usually focused on one thing: making money. Most business owners focus on the sales, but they tend to ignore the bookkeeping since it's not as much fun. If the books aren't organized, businesses can end up paying late-payment interest, miss following up for payments, miss entering expenses, etc. Plus, a bookkeeper can help you stay on track with financial goals and budgeting since they're looking through your books so often.
What do you love most about your job?
I love helping people! I know tax and finances can be super overwhelming. I used to work at an accounting firm (in an administrative role), and regularly saw the blank look on client's faces as my colleague would go through their tax return. I enjoy being able to either take the reigns and handle the client's finances for them if they are willing to do so. Otherwise, I'm able to dumb down some of the terminology in a way that makes sense.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Short answer: the flexibility! I started to get tired of working a 9-5, commuting to the office each day. I adopted two dogs and realized working away for so long wasn't sustainable. I picked a job that allowed me to work from home, but it was still a 9-5 with limitations in place that rubbed me the wrong way. Therefore, here I am!
Why should our clients choose you?
For anyone looking for an honest, communicative, detail-orientated bookkeeper, I'm your gal! Of course, I offer more skills but these are the three most important in my opinion. I'm aware that handling your finances is a sensitive manner and I will always stay honest with you. This is a huge part in building your trust. Since I only offer virtual services, communication is super important! I never want you to feel like I'm not answering all your questions - it's your company after all. Lastly, I stay consistent since I pay attention to the details. This helps avoid any errors in the bookkeeping, and avoids reviews from CRA since there's nothing odd for them to flag.
Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.
I only provide my services remotely/online. I work from home with a fully set up office that allows me to stay efficient, while being in an environment that makes me the most comfortable.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
As I work remotely in a paper-less business, I don't have safety measures in place for my clients. Not out of ignorance, just simply because it's not necessary for the way I run my business.
One-Time Setup
This is great if you're a new business owner, with minimal experience in keeping your financial records organized. I'll help you set up your bookkeeping file (most likely in QuickBooks online unless you have a preference). This includes setting up your chart of accounts, setting up tax codes if you're registered for GST/HST, helping you connect your bank feeds, setting up bank rules to help you categorize transactions in the future, and more.
Catch-Up Projects
For the business owners who focused on growing their business (congrats!) but let their financial records slip along the way. It happens! Sometimes things get missed, and then it seems overwhelming to fix it yourself. That's where I come in. Whether you're behind a couple months, or a couple years, I can help get your books in order. With this service, you can choose if you want help one-time, where I'll catch up your books and help organize things for you to manage going forward. Or, I can offer regular services to you going forward to keep your books in check!
Regular Services
This is best for the established companies, whether you're small, medium, or large. Maybe you have been managing the books yourself, but you want to spend more time on your company's needs. Maybe you had a previous bookkeeper and they just weren't a good fit. I can offer regular services, depending on your needs. This could be weekly, monthly, or quarterly. For whichever duration you choose, I will provide financial reports so you can ensure your company's financial health lines up with your goals.
