Initially, Accountimize seemed to tick all the boxes for our bookkeeping needs. Unfortunately, we quickly realized that they were ill-suited.
Weekly onboarding meetings would always end with some variation of "Yup, totally get what you need, and we'll fix that" but the next week would come and errors remained unresolved. They never did figure out our business and didn’t make any efforts to understand our needs. Communication was terrible. The principal contact they assigned us left their employment and no one told us. It was only after three weeks without replies to emails and having to escalate before they bothered responding to us.
We are not accounting professionals and rely on our bookkeeper to identify issues and flag them, and yet we kept catching obvious errors in the books we had to bring to their attention. For example, we repeatedly flagged discrepancies between the opening balances for the year in QBO, which they maintained on our behalf, and our audited statements, but the books were never corrected. They mangled the implementation of QBO payroll so badly we ended up in tax arrears and on the hook for penalties. After three months we gave up trying to sort them out and fired them. They asked for reasons why we were dropping them, so we provided honest feedback. But the manager who responded refuted any responsibility (apparently it was all on us).
Ultimately, we are a small housing provider with just 60 units and annual revenues of less than a million dollars. Our books are not at all complicated, but Accountimize was incapable of managing our books despite the hundreds of hours we spent trying to bring them up to speed. It was an extraordinarily frustrating experience. I doubt they could handle the books of a lemonade stand. We do not recommend them and would have given them no stars, but the software forces you to pick at least one.
