ANR Accounting

A typical CPA or partner at an accounting firm charges $200 - $300 per hour ($300 - $400 for a tax specialist), and they won't spend much time analyzing your corporate records, correcting errors, or finding ways for YOU to be more efficient and productive, unless you are willing to pay for it. In order to save time (and keep their prices competitive) they will make assumptions and do minimal work to make your taxes and financial statements "look reasonable". With my office in my home, I operate with very low overhead. I can apply my full expertise and in-depth analysis to the entire job, and still charge less than the big firms. The end result is more accurate financials, a more correct tax return, and a cleaner set of books (accounting records). I want to make your every-day accounting less of a chore, and reduce the time and effort needed on future work, thus saving you money and headaches in the long run.

What kind of accounting services do you provide?

Corporate year-end prep, corporate and personal taxes, accounting and tax consulting, accounting systems set-up and support, and various other things to a lesser degree.

Why is it so important for businesses to hire a great accountant?

You need to wield a massive amount of information to expertly navigate the Canadian business landscape, particularly when taxes are involved.
Like the saying goes, "Think hiring a professional is expensive? Wait until you hire an amateur..."

What do you love most about your job?

Helping regular people take care of their "business" (yeah, accounting and taxes can be that way...good accountants are like prunes...)

What inspired you to start your own business?

I knew I could do more for clients when I dealt with them in person, and was not restricted by the limited service agreements at larger firms where I worked. That is, if they hired a firm to do their year-end, the firm would not let me investigate other issues (i.e. GST/PST discrepancies, etc).

Why should our clients choose you?

If you have a small business with no elaborate corporate structure, and no complex tax issues, there is no reason you should spend over $2,500 for your annual financial statements and tax return. I can provide better service to such clients and still charge about half of what the big firms do.

Can you provide your services online or remotely? If so, please add details.

Legally, I need to verify that you exist, so it's best to meet in person at least once. But, after that, if you can provide information electronically, it is easier for me to do the work you want done, because I don't have to scan or type in all the information. I can provide options for secure data transfer, if necessary. But, many clients still bring me paper, or data on a USB flash drive. Just tell me what works best for you.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?

I wear a mask when meeting with clients, and I insist on clients wearing a mask when they meet with me. My wife disinfects the door knob, hand rails, etc. after a client leaves our house. I disinfect my desktop and any pens that clients have touched. Not sure if there is more that could be done, but so far there have been no known infections linked to my office (in my home).
