What do you love most about your job?
Helping clients to make the most of their money, by investing sensibly and tax efficiently, using debt wisely and protecting against the financial effects of low chance / high impact events. Building and implementing strategies, then seeing the positive results over time, is very satisfying.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Spending almost 20 years working with local and global investment managers and banks, you appreciate that each financial institution has it's own strengths and weaknesses. These change over time, just as client circumstances change. A financial institution's mortgage or investment products might be the right fit for my client now, but not in 3 years time.
By keeping the personal advice relationship separate from product manufacturers, we allow for long-term advice relationships that are not tied to specific products. We can sit on the same side of the table as our clients when they are dealing with financial institutions, and when circumstances change, we can adapt the strategy and financial products used as necessary. It minimises the disruption to advice strategies, keeps a long-term understanding and focus, and removes the need for clients to explain their circumstances every time their bank relationship manager or financial adviser changes. This was the inspiration for setting up Walbrook.

What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
We can meet our clients and contacts over Zoom or Teams, though we are now back to hosting clients in our office if preferred.
