Yes — everything except the ceremony itself can be done remotely.
The wedding ceremony must be held in person. Under the Marriage Act, both parties, two witnesses and I all need to be physically present in the same place, so there's no such thing as a legal online wedding in Australia.
Everything leading up to it can be handled remotely:
Initial consultation and planning — by phone, Zoom, WhatsApp video or email, whichever suits you. I have couples plan their whole wedding from overseas or interstate.
Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) — this must be lodged at least one calendar month before your date. You can sign it wherever you are and have it witnessed by an authorised person locally (an Australian consular officer, a notary public, a legal practitioner, or a doctor if you're overseas), then send me the scanned copy with the original to follow.
Ceremony drafting — I write and revise your ceremony script over email until it's right. No need to meet in person for this.
Document checks — you can send photos or scans of birth certificates, passports and any divorce or death certificates for me to review early, so nothing surprises us close to the date. I'll need to sight the originals before the ceremony.
Rehearsal — can be done over video call if you're arriving shortly before the wedding.
For couples who can't travel, I'm happy to work with your venue or photographer so overseas family can watch a live stream — I'll pace the ceremony and position myself with the camera in mind.
I'm based in Bella Vista and travel across Sydney, the Hills District, Blue Mountains, Central Coast and the Southern Highlands for ceremonies.
