I moved my property over from another property management company to Aspire in November last year, and I’ve been very happy with the experience so far. One of my biggest concerns was finding a new tenant during the Christmas period. However, the team handled everything really well. Even over the Christmas and holiday period, there was always someone looking after my property. They continued arranging viewings, following up with prospective tenants and keeping me regularly updated throughout the process. I never felt like things were put on hold just because it was the holiday season.I’m also really impressed by how they use AI and technology to improve their service and communication. Everything is efficient, transparent and easy to follow. 15 months with Aspire Property Management was 15 months too long.I engaged a property manager to remove the stress of managing a rental — instead, I often felt I was managing the property manager while also living with the consequences of poor tenant selection. I live directly above my two-bedroom rental in a 1902 home, with only the original timber floorboards separating the two dwellings. I was very clear that quiet, considerate tenants were essential, particularly as I was studying at the University of Auckland.I was overseas with very limited internet access when Aspire selected the tenants, so I trusted them to honour those requirements and use their professional judgement. Instead, I spent the following 15 months living with the consequences of my requirements being largely ignored.The result was 15 months of:• An unemployed mechanic who was home much of the day, with frequent visitors and constant coming and going, day and night• The smoke alarm regularly going off day and night…• Extremely loud modified cars being revved outside my bedroom at all hours• Repeated car break-ins and theft of vehicle parts in the immediate neighbourhood during the tenancy; these stopped after the tenants left and, to my knowledge, have not occurred since• Parties and repeated door slamming, day and night• Unanswered emails and concerns requiring repeated follow-up• An additional person staying at the property, receiving mail/parcels there and sleeping in the lounge, with my concerns ultimately unresolved by Aspire.The impact went far beyond the normal frustrations of renting out a property. I never knew whether I would get a decent night’s sleep or be able to work, study productively, or sit online exams in my own home. It became so disruptive and stressful that I withdrew mid-semester from my Graduate Diploma at the University of Auckland and had to apply for special leave.As soon as the tenants gave notice, I interviewed five other property management companies and changed agencies.The contrast has been extraordinary. I now have a wonderful, considerate tenant and property managers who listen, respond promptly and proactively manage issues — at only a fraction of the cost. My home is peaceful again and my daily life has changed enormously for the better.The saddest part is realising how unnecessary those 15 months of stress were.Based on my experience, I cannot recommend Aspire Property Management. Sadly, if zero stars were an option, that would more accurately reflect my 15 months with them. More...

We love helping landlords enjoy owning a rental property - sometimes it can be very stressful - we make it stress-free!
What inspired you to start your own business?
Our MD Mike Atkinson worked overseas in property management, and when he returned to NZ he saw a gap in the market for a business that actually cared about landlords AND tenants. He created a tech-focussed approach to property management that allows each property manager to have more time for client communication and care.
Why should our clients choose you?
We are reliable, honest and friendly. We care about our customers. We don't sell real estate - we are property management experts. And we don't lock you into a long contract - we want you to stay with us because you love us, not because you have to!
