great food and great service
My boyfriend and I visited last night and everything was delicious! The channa masala was my favourite! The lady working was so sweet! I mentioned that I'm vegan to her and she was asking us about it and spent time explaining all of the different options to us. She made us feel very welcomed even though we both had dietary restrictions. Many other restaurants we've been to act like we're an inconvenience. A lovely little place, we'll be back for sure! Wonderful buffet delicious food
We have only been a couple of times but have had excellent experiences. The food is exceptional. The owners treat us like family. Thank you Sizzling Dhaba. I recommend you to everyone I know! More...
Two words, gulab jamun. Best dessert I've ever consumed ❤ Thank you!
Lovely place lovely People
I ordered a few dishes to go recently, and everything was great! I enjoyed the kulcha paratha especially, as well as a somewhat spicy dish with chicken and paneer masala. The only thing that wasn't 100% my favourite was the dhal soup. I was thinking it would be a bit thicker and more strongly flavoured. The service at Sizzling Dhaba is always friendly, and the owners are always there. Very dedicated to their restauraunt, and keeping their customers happy and full. I will be back again and again! Just ate an order of the most amazing butter chicken. Added rice and had the naan. Awesome!! I could eat it every day!!
Delicious food. Lovely staff. We’ve introduced this great restaurant to so many of our friends and family. We’ll be back soon.
Really enjoyed ourselves last night at The Sizzling Dhaba. The food and service was first rate and the buffet was kept well stocked. The young lady who was taking care of the dining room lit the place up with her smile and outgoing disposition. A great time was had by all and we’ll certainly be back again and again! More...
Very good food and the portions are huge! I ordered the butter chicken here for lunch (delivered with skip the dishes) and it was very, very good! This dish, with a side of rice, lasted me three days of lunches. The samosas are also incredibly tasty! I look forward to exploring more items on the menu! More...
Awesome food!! The best Indian food i had in Canada! I have already been there twice in 2 months. I love their food and their service! The lady is really sweet and polite. I saw her offering free samosas to a skip the dishes courier guy. That was very sweet of her. The prices are higher than normal indian restaurants. But I would prefer to pay more for a good indian food than have bad awful food !! Keep it up Sizzling Dhaba! :) More...
Food is delicious, service is excellent, best i've had, on both sides of the pond. vegtable korma and beef vindeloo are my fav's from the buffet, finished it off with chi and dessert. fantastic
My Wife's been raving about this spot for a while & after visiting & having dinner there last night I can see why, it's the best food of its type I've eaten in the city in a very casual environment & I will definitely be visiting again.
By far the best, most traditional Indian food in Winnipeg. Love this quaint family run St. Vital restaurant!

Stopped by here on our way out of town. We came in with the intention of ordering off the menu. However the menu was just too extensive for us to settle on one thing. The super friendly owner instead recommended the buffet and showed us the variety of dishes they had. Lots of variety. Good flavorful food. However it felt like some of the stuff had been sitting out there too long. Ordered a lassi and some paneer pakora off the menu. No complaints with either. Would like to try more stuff off the menu...maybe next time? More...
Had a great experience specially fish pakora was amazing
Delicious variety of food...one of my favorite restaurants in Winnipeg
I went here tonight with a friend who loves Indian food as much as I do. Very Impressed! We had the buffet and it was wonderful. Lots of spice and a little heat with options for more. Wide variety of food items served hot and fresh. Restaurant was clean and serving personal were attentive and pleasant. Music was right volume that you could talk and not have to speak loud or get distracted. We will be back for sure. More...
Delicious food with a varied buffet. The beef vindaloo and vegetable korma are my favourite dishes! Service is always lovely like I was invited into their home. Might be my favourite Indian restaurant in Winnipeg. More...
One of my faves! It is like eating with family every time I go!!!
I can't wait to go back as soon as I walk out the door! Love the Palak Paneer so much. Thanks for all the lovely chit chat and amazing service!
Not only is the food amazing but you are also greeted so warmly by wonderfully friendly (and informative) owners and staff. Highly recommended!!
Love the samosas, butter chicken and beef vindaloo.
Great food at great prices! Would definitely recommend!
Great food, will share with family and friends! A family friend who eats there, told us about the place. We live close by and always wanted to drop in. I'm glad I did!
I've been to the buffet a few times and have enjoyed all of the dishes available. The staff are super friendly and bring you naan with the Sunday buffet which is a nice touch. Highly recommend the veggie korma! If you want spicy, don't do the buffet as they try to keep it mild to appeal to the widest audience. Instead, order off the menu. More...
We make a monthly-ish habit of ordering the spicy beef vindaloo and a couple of chicken samosas to go, my wife is not that adventurous when it comes to ethnic foods so we don't do the buffet, but she loves these dishes so I get my fix of Indian food and she is still happy. They really are delicious, but what makes this place great is the family feel, the owners are so friendly and although they do tend to have friends in and they spend time chatting as was mentioned in a previous post, they always are warm and inviting to strangers and make everyone feel special. The wife will often throw in extras such as a couple pieces of jelabi with our take out order. We are happy to give our business to this little gem in St Vital. More...
We eat here frequently. It is close by and priced reasonably. We always have the buffet. It is good for both spicy and less spicy tastes. The owners stop by our table with a friendly smile and chat and to make sure we are enjoying our meal. We will be back for more. More...
Incredible! A new favorite place for Indian food. Super authentic, and the lady who runs it is the loveliest ever. Highly recommend the butter chicken, pakora, ahlu ghobi and goat curry. Na'an comes with, and you take it home with you if you don't eat it all! Totally superb, and a huge range of desserts More...
An extensive menu with so many options to choose from it was difficult to pick... so we opted for the dinner buffet. Wow, SUCH flavours and variety. All the classics with a lot of new ones I'd never tried before. More...
You can tell there is talent at this restaurant, the food is Amazing. I wanted to eat more. I will remember this place for future. Thank you Jas.
We stopped into this restaurant at random for a quick bite(we hoped) on our way through Winnipeg to Ontario. It was. The service was amazing. We were greeted with a happy waitress (May have also been the Owner), not fake at all, she genuinely made conversation. We chose the buffet after having a look and seeing the choices looked hot. My aunt who ordered a mango lasse said it could have used more mango and after trying it, I agreed. The buffet came with garlic naan which came very soon after our first bites. The food was hot and pretty yummy, not the best we've ever had. The butter chicken was actually my least favourite, dry and not to my taste. The vegetable dishes were very good. Dessert was pretty good although we barely had room. Options for dessert were Gulab Jamun, Ladoo, and Jalebi. My aunt said the Jalebi was some of the best she had. We observed that she remembered regulars orders, and they do quick take out. Overall a nice small Indian restaurant with great service, a nice ambiance, and pretty good food. More...
Very nice little local place. The best chicken tikka masala I have ever eaten. Fresh and tasty! Everything was great. Highly recommend it.
This is a place owned by amazing couple. They both take pride in handling the customers and providing the amazing service. On top of that the food is fantastic specially at the Buffett I found sag paneer, butter chicken, pakora. Alu paratha raita. I would definitely recommend any one who is a food lover Like to try different food. 5 stars for the service and food quality and taste. More...
This restaurant is wonderful. The service is friendly and the food is awesome! My boyfriend always gets the Caribbean-style roti. It's delicious. They also have a good buffet for a good price. However, if you're going for the buffet, make sure that you like what you're eating. Each dish is labeled. I recommend taking a little tiny bit of each dish to find out what you like and what you don't like so that you don't waste food. I'll definitely come back again! More...
Food and service was beyond amazing!!! Sunita is beyond wonderful and so accommodating!!
I love Sizzling Dhaba!! I used to go one or twice a week when I used to work in the area and the owners always greeted me so warmly. As I brought my husband, out of town siblings, cousins, and friends over with me, they would ask how they were doing. The buffet choices are a bit smaller than most Indian restaurants but they're FAR better!!! The quality and flavour is amazing and I highly recommend going there. More...
Ordered in at work tonight, was very good. and we will be getting again. Keep up the good work
Goat curry, beef vindaloo and a great selection of vegetarian dishes. Great food for a mom and pop operation. And more characters to satisfy the robot.
Came here today for lunch with the husband and tried out the lunch buffet. The restaurant is quite small, with about 7 tables. When we got inside, we were immediately greeted by the owner and guided us to a table by the window. We got complimentary naan bread which is made fresh to order. The naan had a kind of pizza bread taste to it, so it wouldn't be the best naan that I've had in the city. There were many dishes to choose from, including beef vindaloo, butter chicken, goat curry, tandoori chicken, spinach paneer, chana masala, and samosas. My favorite is probably the goat curry and beef vindaloo. The food was heated well, so remained nice and warm when we ate. The butter chicken was also delicious and was on the creamier side. I am used to butter chicken with the orange sauce, but the sauce they had here for the butter chicken was a lot lighter and looked like a white sauce. The meats were all very tender, including the goat, chicken and beef. The samosa was also quite delicious and wish I had room for more. The total came out to about $26 after taxes for the both of us. Overall, I would definitely recommend coming here if you love Indian food and buffets. You'll for sure find something you like. More...
Foods great. Service and atmosphere are good. Pruces are good. The Naan that cones with the meal is the best I've had anywhere. Would reccomend.
We dined here and tried the lunch buffet on Monday. We were the only diners in the place, so we had the entire buffet to ourselves. The selection of dishes was great. There were equal offerings of vegetarian and meat dishes. There were samosas, basamati rice, butter chicken, massala, vindaloo, and much more. Every dish was served very warm and we were provided complimentary naan bread with our meal. I enjoyed this restaurant very much, and the buffet is a great way to try this cuisine. I will likely be back because the price is very reasonable, and the quality of the food is great. Thanks!! More...
Sizzling Dhaba measures up pretty well in comparison to the other Indian buffets in Winnipeg. A pet peeve of mine is when Indian restaurants are wimpy with their use of spices. For the most part, I did not find this issue at Sizzling Dhaba. Standouts to me were the palak paneer, the goat curry, and the mutter paneer. I normally don't enjoy goat, as I find it to be gamy, but theirs was wonderfully spiced, which masked the gaminess. Some criticisms: the complimentary naan bread was garlicky (in a good way), but was far too greasy; the gulab jamun was tasty, but would have been better served warm. Additionally, the syrup that the gulab jamun was served in was pooled at the bottoms of the desserts, which lead to some sogginess. Lastly, I found that the tandoori chicken lacked seasoning, and the butter chicken was less tomatoey than I like. Overall, good value for money. More...
Fantastic food with equally good service. We've tried several of their dishes both meat-based and vegetarian and found them to be some of the best we've had. I'd go as far as to call this place a hidden gem. Don't hesitate to try this place out-you won't be disappointed. More...
Thoroughly enjoyed our experience for lunch. Buffet was nice size.. 12 options plus samosa and potato. Butter chicken was excellent! Naan bread was warm and best I've had. Decor was a little cafeteria style but not uncomfortable. Definitely going back. More...
Love this place. The couple that own it are so warm, friendly and wonderful. My wife and I come regularly. Buffett is great. Best chai in the city. The okra is amazing. More...
Amazing food, ordered off the menu and it was fresh with great flavour.
BEST BUTTER CHICKEN! The butter chicken is the best I've tasted so far, and I've been to several other East Indian restaurants. The service is very friendly, I love the owners, super nice. I try and go here as much as possible, at least once a month. It's a small place, but the food is amazing. More...
Went to eat yesterday with Family from Regina as i was passing by winnipeg:-) believe me !! It was beyond my expectations. Excellent awesome food with homemade roti. I was amazed. Very friendly and home environment by the owner. They offered us breakfast as well, but next time for sure im going to sizzling dhaba for breakfast More...
Loved it!. We've been placing pick up orders about once a week for the last couple months. This is hands down the best Indian Cuisine we have ever had. The quality of the food has been consistent and never disappoints. The butter chicken is always a must order as it's so flavorful, rich and creamy. Can't wait to order again this week. More...
The best Indian restaurant in Winnipeg!. I've been going here for about a year now and the flavours are fantastic! Everything is made from scratch and very affordable. If you're new to East Indian cuisine, go for the buffet: it has a diverse selection of meat, vegetarian and vegan dishes and the buffet cards above will tell you what's in the dish. Further, the staff are very helpful and can explain what's in the dish. I have a friend who's travelled all over the world and she says this is comparable to some of the best East Indian restaurants anywhere! Try it, you won't be disappointed! More...

Great Indian Food in St Vital. I just ordered a meal from Skip the Dishes tonight and I was very pleased. The food was fantastic and although I have very specific dietary needs, the restaurant called me to accomodate me and made me something that fit my needs. The food was delivered promptly and was very hot. It was so good! Finally, a fantastic Indian place in St Vital that I will be redommending to family and friends! More...

Wow! We just tasted the most delicious luxurious butter chicken in our whole lives!! So yummy and creamy! A YOLO meal for sure!
Always excellent. Eaten here a few times and never disappointed. Food is always consistent and service is friendly and attentive. -----08 Sep, 2013----- Excellent food and service. My wife and I went for dinner tonight at Sizzling Dhaba and we will be back again. The food was excellent and our server was very polite and helpful with the menu. We had the following which came with basmati rice; veggie samosa, dal makhni, beef vindaloo, tandoori chicken and naan (cheese and keema). We also took out a selection of desserts. We stuck with mild and medium heat as it was our first time here. Next time, we feel we'll be comfortable moving to medium and hotter. A true family restaurant with Mom, Dad and family working together. They each asked what we thought of the food and were all very nice. Definitely going again. More...

Amazing food and amazing staff!!!!! You gotta eat here! !!!!!
Nice food good cooking
Great Indian testy food and service like fish pakora and curry
Best In Town By Far. Have eaten here a few times now and the food is fantastic and is so much better than anyone else is the city. On one occasion when we arrived we noticed that Butter Chicken was not part of the buffet. We asked the owner and he said it typically is, but they rotate the dishes from day to day and it was not part of the buffet that day. There were still a bunch of items that we really wanted to try so we went ahead and had the buffet anyway. Halfway through our meal to our surprise he brought us out a fresh made batch just for us right to our table! I doubt you will find another restaurant in Winnipeg that will do that. Don't let the size or location fool you, this place is really good, the owners are really nice and not pushy, and I can't wait to eat here again. More...
Yesterday I had butter chicken and Saahi Paneer. It was yummy I had ever. I would suggest for best indian food in the city.
Yummy buffet. Had a work lunch today at Sizzling Dhaba and the food was awesome. Lots of choices, lots of flavours, and super nice people. Will go back and I highly recommend. Great value too. More...
Decided to drop into this new family run restaurant the area, We looked over the menu and could not decide what to order so we talked with one of the owns and after looking at the buffet when for that. In the end what a good choice it turned out to be, enjoyed all the dishes selected for a good price. A small place with lots of good food we will be back. More...
Awesome in South St. Vital!!!!. Boy, do we need some more great options like Sizzling Dhaba. This place is great! It's my new favourite discovery along with Simon's Cuisine. I dropped in on Sunday afternoon (today) with a buddy visiting from T.O. (he needed a break from Ford Nation). So after driving around in the snow for a bit, I spotted Sizzling Dhaba and we dropped in to see what it was like. No regrets, folks! Super pleasant staff (family business ... the chef came out to ask us how everything was during our meal). We wanted to eat lightly so we shared a chicken Samosa app. It was so crisp and delicious. Then we shared a platter of beef vindaloo and a platter of chicken tikka. Everything was so fresh and very flavourful. The vegetables with the tikka were absolutely delicious. The vindaloo was a nice heat ... very fresh spices. With a cup of chai tea, we walked away feeling great, just full enough, and I am still tasting the wonderful spices. I recommend Sizzling Dhaba wholeheartedly. A new gem in our end of town. More...
I've found my new favourite east Indian restaurant in the city! The menu is large, driverse, and incredibly affordable with plentiful servings. The vegan menu is massive with flavourful dishes. The buffet for $10.75 is large, with many vegetarian dishes but no vegan dishes (except the samosas, pickled veg, tamarind & rice) I got #16 Gutta Curry with samosas & basmati rice and was very pleased I did so! A heaping serving with plenty of chickpea-flour balls in a perfectly cooked curry sauce. Parking is excellent as it's in a strip mall, and their hours are fantastic (open lunch til late/dinner). Our server was incredibly friendly & knowledgable about the dishes and was beyond accommodating. Tip well, folks, this is a hidden gem you'll be happy you tried! I'll be back regularly! More...
Great East Indian Food :). We're a British family living in Winnipeg and for the past 7 years we have been looking for a decent East Indian Restaurant. .. This evening we tried Sizzling Dhaba hoping for great food but without any expectations. I am happy to say that my husband and I really enjoyed the food. I ordered the Shrimp Zahl Frezi (Hot) and my husband the Chicken Korma (Mild), we were delighted with the quality and taste of the food and we will for sure be going back. In addition we ordered Popadoms, Keema Nan and Garlic Nan, all of which were good... Give this restaurant a try, I know that we will be regulars! More...
Will be back. Loved this place! fantastic food
We had an excellent takeout meat from here. I had the lamb curry extra hot and it was very nice. My wife had the chicken biryani extra mild and she thought that it was very nice. The chip aria and the puris were great and so was the mango milkshake that we had. The owners are very personable and I had a great time talking to them. It's nice finding another Indian restaurant in St Vital More...
A hidden gem in south St. Vital. Picked up some takeout at Sizzling Dhaba today, and it was fantastic! The Saag Paneer, Bharta and Lamb Vindaloo I ordered were all very flavourful, the spice level was great and the portions were generous. The Naan was excellent as well. I also met the owners, Sunita and Avnish, who were both very friendly and polite. The pride they take in preparing their dishes was apparent. Overall, Sizzling Dhaba = Awesome! Sign me up as a regular! More...
Restaurant owners and staff are very polite, personable and attentive especially the waiter! Before we decided to order the buffet the waiter introduced is to each dish at the buffet table! Food is delicious. Not overly salty and not too overly spicy like other restaurants. Great price for the all you can eat dinner! Glad to see a great locally owned restaurant in our neighborhood! Don't miss out on this place!. Small little restaurant on st.Annes, residential setting. Growing up in an East Indian household, I am always skeptical ordering Indian food. .. I am so happy I made the decision to try this place. Be sure to try their version of Butter Chicken, Alu gobi, and yellow dal. Been to this place five times since discovery, for sure many times in the future. More...
Delicious! Don't be fooled .... Delicious! Don't be fooled by this quaint restaurant, it is bursting with flavor! The food is delicious and authentic- another plus would be the service, friendly and prompt! Definitely worth checking out!
Delicious food. We ate two times there I oredered Butter chicken and naan , Butter chicken was really tasty. every time at sizzling Dhaba we enjoyed our food.
A Real taste of India, one of the best East Indian restaurant in the district. Would love to take their takeaway every time I go out to the lake
I tried out Sizzling Dhabha's buffet today (Jul 11, 2013). There were about 20 items in the buffet. My favorite items were butter chicken, lamb chatpata, fresh homemade naans and samosas stuffed with varoius ingredients. One thing that impressed me the most is the extremely friendly srevice. Unexpected Treat. My wife and I found this place outta the blue. I ordered the Bhindi Masala while my wife got the Lamb Curry. Wow i was surprised, who knew you could make okra so tasty! My wife's Lamb Curry was a bit to spicy for her, but she enjoyed regardless. The wait staff was prompt and friendly..I would recommend this place for a nice low-key dinner, the buffet looked really good and i kind of wished i tried it.. all the more reason to go back i guess! Throughly enjoyed it! More...
Had a great dinner here tonight food was tasty their a welcome addition to st vital. We really enjoyed the Shahi Paneer and Beef Palak :-)
Tasty!. We had the buffet. For 12.99 it comes with naan. I liked the naan, it had a subtle garlic butter flavour, and slightly crispy exterior, as if baked or pan grilled. It is definitely not the soft chewy type naan, but it was quite good in my opinion. The buffet, although small, located in a corner of the already small restaurant had enough selection of the usual favourites, and they were all delicious. There were samosas, which were appetizer size, but the shell was quite tasty and not as oily as others I've had. Also, the filling to crust ratio was perfect. Everything we had was all delicious - butter chicken; vegetable korma; palaak paneer; chick pea choley; goat curry; bean choley; even the tandoori chicken was moist and flavourful (unlike other buffet tandoori chickens which tend to get dry). There was also dessert, jalebi, which was also tasty. They also have a selection of Indian desserts you can purchase to go at the till. Will definitely return! More...
