I began having Randy train my boy, Kane 3 weeks ago. We have 8 lessons in total booked.i am submitting this review before even completing our course because I hope this can illustrate Kane’s progress and the amazing evolution in such a short period with Randy’s teachings. Everyone who has been at our home or out in public are shocked and amazed at just how sharp and well behaved Kane has become. We’ve given complete trust to Randy’s training methods and expertise and have followed every word with no exceptions . Put in the work, pay attention , do the homework over and over and watch your dog become the loyal, compliant and obedient dog he desperately wants to be with his pack leader .I have learned what and who I need to be as a leader which of course the key. We are looking forward to completing our courses and continuing to watch Kane’s transformation .So loving this journey with my boy. You rock Randy, thank you so much !Wendy Lee More...

Canadian Canine Academy and Randy have been so amazing to deal with..we had some issues with our Great Dane. When we met Randy he was so amazing and his passion for dog behaviour truly top notch. The love Randy has for dogs and how he treated Wrigley always made us smile and re-assured that we could fix us to be better for our dog. On our last night of our training we left there leaving sad because we enjoyed so much our experience! If you're looking at Canadian Canine Training Academy HIGHLY recommend and we loved the fact that it's Veterans friendly because our Veterans deserve nothing but our upmost respect given we're 2019. Randy doesn't disappoint with his training and how simple he teaches! Thanks again Randy :) Wrigley surely misses you More...

We're reminded every day how much Randy helped us with our puppy Tara. Even going for a walk with our 9 month old border collie was a struggle because Tara was so excited she would pull and jump on anyone who came near. Randy gave us the tools to train her and we listened and did the homework every single day. We came in with a stubborn Border Collie puppy who chose when she wanted to listen, to a dog that we can enjoy our time with and trust. Highly recommend! More...

We sought out training for our Border Collie puppy Tara a few months ago (at the time about 9 months old). We had contacted a few different training places and Randy was the first person that we sat down with to see what he thought about our little dog. Tara was well socialized and could learn tricks immediately but was extremely stubborn and decided when she wanted to listen to us. We needed to carry pieces of cheese for her to come back to us at the dog park and were getting pretty frustrated with her lack of obedience! Randy took Tara for a quick walk and immediately came back to us with a plan. He was straight forward with us and after we saw the respect that Tara had for him, we signed up. Fast forward to now and the relationship that we have with our dog is completely different. We can actually trust her to have freedom and respect what we say. We've been able to enjoy the summer with our dog and truly believe that signing up was the best decision we ever made as dog owners. We're looking forward to doing more classes in the fall! Highly recommend Canadian Canine Training Academy to anyone struggling with training! More...

I had such a great experience with Randy! I have a 2 year old street dog from the Dominican Republic, and all she knows is fight or flight. Randy showed me the tools and helped me gain the confidence in walking my dog in public during normal daytime hours and not scared to walk her only at night when other dogs weren’t out. Walking with her is a dream now and she listens to the commands I give her. Before, she was aggressive towards my cats and now she cuddles them. When you put in the time, pay attention and actually do the homework that is given, the dog will improve significantly. Trust me on this, my dog hated rules before this and now she listens so well. Thank you for the great experience. I really appreciated the weekly feedback on how she was improving or if I needed to work a little harder on something. If you need to fix an aggressive dog, you need to show them who’s boss or lose the dog. Thank you again for helping me handle my baby! More...

We have two crazy Boston Terriers who ruled our lives. On day 1 I said if Randy can't help us we were giving them up. I was at my wits end. In my wildest dreams I never thought anyone could help them, and us. We tried others but to no avail. I was a former world level athlete and observed that Randy used the same kind of focus and commitment. Randy is the real deal if you are considering it. You won't be disappointed! More...

After many (many) embarrassing and frustrating moments trying to get control over two headstrong Bostons, I can finally confidently take not only one, but BOTH 3 year old pups out for a walk at the same time! ! Had you met my two crazies (as I fondly call them) pre-training, you'd understand how come I'm still amazed at the transformation they've undergone in 8 weeks time!!We'd looked for training help before but nothing had worked. When the barking, lunging and growling escalated and their newest trick was jumping up at and nipping anyone coming thru our front door, I called the Canadian Canine Training Academy. From the very first class things started to drastically change for the better. Thanks to Randy, we now we have the tools to be able to deal with them when they get excited (in a negative way) and we can now refocus their attention and move on. What a relief!! More...

Wonderful positive experience for myself and puppy Bentley. I now feel I have the tools and knowledge to enjoy and teach him what is acceptable behaviour. I can now walk him at ease on his leash, and he listens to commands. He is calm when he meets other people and dogs now, which he was not before the classes. Randy made each class a positive learning experience, and took the time to ask how the previous week went, and then made suggestions to accommodate. I was highly recommended this Training Academy by my daughter whose husky also completed the 8 week private classes several years ago, and was a changed dog after. I thank you Randy for making this such a positive, fun yet professional experience. You are extremely knowledgeable in your profession and your love of animals certainly shines through. I also learned right from the beginning that these classes are as much, if not more for the dog owner as the dog. It certainly gives the owner confidence and ability to teach your dog and yet enjoy each other in the process. It was a most enjoyable, and successful experience that I would give a 5 star recommendation to. Thankyou Randy, for all your patience, and humour we shared throughout the classes. Bentley will miss you. You have a very well organized, professionally run business.....Thumbs Up and continued Success to You !! More...

I just finished my 8 week private lessons with Randy and it was awesome! Our puppy is now almost 9mths old, Leeloo has always been a little nervous or cautious around people and other dogs. Around 4 months old she figured out that jumping/pulling/barking at people and other dogs made them step back in fear. When we first went to see Randy we had already tried 2 other courses where training was solely based on treat rewards for good behaviour (or when they did what you asked them to do). We rewarded with treats constantly as we were taught, it worked alright at a distance, but if anyone or dog came within 10ft she could care less about yummy treats and had to make sure these people or dogs knew she was here and to stay away. I had enough, I knew I had to show her that I was in charge and she didn't have to worry about trying to "protect" us. Right from the get go, Randy showed me how to show Leeloo that it was ok and that I had control of the situation. With 8 weeks of hard consistent training, Leeloo is now much calmer and realizes that I have the situation under control and that she does not have to worry. The biggest thing I took from this is that you need to show your dog that you are in control, and you need to have fun with your dog. People who say that becoming Alpha means to hurt your dog to show them who's boss clearly aren't doing it right and are actually hurting their dog. When training with Randy he teaches you to have fun with your dog while maintaining control. It's no different than if they are in their own pack and the Alpha dog gives them a quick bite on the neck to tell them that's enough. Dogs and animals in the wild are all raised this way, it's in their blood! Now when I take Leeloo for a walk in a local dog park/forest she automatically comes and "Heals" to my side when we are approaching the parking lot after the walk all while looking at me and wagging her tail and no leash (even if there are other people or dogs around). She is a very happy dog. Canadian Canine Academy, office staff and trainer, have helped me make walking my dog fun again! Thank you! More...

Randy and Steve, literally saved my late father's dog. To keep a long story short, my father passed away and left behind a 2. 5 year old German Shepherd with some SERIOUS behavioural problems. Separation anxiety, destructive behaviour (digging through walls), excessive barking, couldn't walk on a leash, constant pacing, lack of physical boundaries, and SEVERE aggression towards other animals. The rest of the family was skeptical, and there was talk of putting him down. No shelter would have taken a dog with the amount of aggression he displayed, and no sane family would have adopted him. Either way, Randy came highly recommended and we took a chance. I opted for boarding school and private lessons. Because of the training with Canadian Canine, I can bring my father's dog up to the cottage with the rest of the extended family's dogs, big and small. He hangs out under my desk at work when I bring him in, stays when I tell him to, and he actually listens to verbal cues.We just finished our last lesson this week, and I can say without a doubt that Randy and Steve saved my dad's dog. His anxiety has gone from a 10/10 to a 2/10, and we've managed to take him off the anxiety meds from the vet. He's developing a personality and sense of self.If you're looking to be the perfect pet parent, Canadian Canine probably isn't the spot for you. Training with big aggressive dogs can seem rough at times, but the alternative is living in fear of your own dog. Training with Canadian Canine has gotten him under control and I rarely need to use corrections now. Dogs respect hierarchy, and they find comfort in knowing that you are a pack leader. If you're looking to get your dog under control, provide them with self-confidence, and develop a great relationship with them, I can't recommend Canadian Canine highly enough. Worth every penny. I say this all the time to my family and friends: Canadian Canine Training Academy and Randy have truly changed our lives! We don't know what we would have done without them. We got our chocolate lab at 2 months old, and she was quite a handful: very high energy, destructive chewer, jumped on furniture/counters and people, barked at everything in sight and became possessive and aggressive when we tried taking something away from her. We never knew what we came home to, and there was always an air of negativity in our home. We could not trust her. After constant nipping and a couple biting incidents (one involved trying to pull a dead animal from her mouth and resulted in her biting), we had enough and researched for dog training that did not involve treat-based rewarding (our dog would only listen and do as we say with treats, and would ignore us if we did not). We found Canadian Canine online, registered, and haven't looked back. Randy explained that our dog was not naturally aggressive, but that she thought she was the leader of the pack and was putting us in our place. Throughout the 8 week private lessons, Randy has provided us with the knowledge and the tools to correct her bad behaviors, and instill good behavior. She no longer chews everything in sight, listens and obeys, does not eat everything off the streets, drops anything as soon as we ask her to, is no longer aggressive and possessive, and we now fully trust her! She now sees my partner and I as the leaders of our pack, and does not try to challenge us anymore. We still have some learning to do, and we plan on continuing with group classes. We would recommend Canadian Canine to anyone who has pups with behavioral issues. 10/10! Thank you so much Randy! More...

Now with the guidance and training lessons we learned from Randy we are able to control him and enjoy having him in our lives. We have noticed since going through the Basic Obedience Class with Chester how he has changed and our confidence and trust level is higher. It is an amazing improvement. I cannot say enough positive things about Randy and the Canadian Canine Training Academy! My husband and I welcomed our first child this past August and decided we really needed to correct the bad habits of our two Australian Shepards, Quinn and Lola, who are 5 and 4 years old respectively. They are a very high-energy and extremely smart breed so we knew we had our work cut out for us. The issues we had were barking at passerby’s, jumping on and barking at guests when they came into our home, counter-surfing for food, high anxiety and generally, us not feeling like we had control of our dogs. We had let much of the behaviour go on for far too long and it was finally time to deal with it. I’ve grown up with dogs my whole life and have always known that dogs need to know that you are the alpha (boss) in your home, otherwise they will take over and do whatever they want. After working with Randy for 8 weeks, we are happy to say that we have two completely different dogs, for the better. Randy gave us the tools to take control, without causing any harm to the dogs. They are still their sweet loving selves; however, we have seen a drastic improvement in their behaviour and temperament and overall, they’re much calmer and easier to control. All of our family and friends have even commented on the improvements in their temperament and behaviour. Thank you SO much Randy and Kim! More...

Randy definitely helped A LOT. We have a Great Pyrenees who wasn't able to go on walks or wear pants because she ripped holes in my pants from biting my ankles and She never took me seriously and she was actually quite aggressive. We took her to another training school first and the problem never changed. And some days it was much worse. It was mostly brushed off in a "shes just a puppy" kind of attitude. We were on the verge of giving up when we came across Canadian Canine and the reviews were amazing so I checked out their website and you tell them what's wrong, what's happening and they work with everyone differently. Each class is designed for each dog but also for the owner. I found I was learning a lot more then I was at the other training school. And any questions or concerns they really listen and we worked on that problem immediately. Also if something wasn't working they always encourage you to call them or email them whenever throughout the week. Overall great experience there , Katherine our trainer, is very friendly and has a great personality. She is also very open to our questions and willing to help. We’ve done the kindergarten, basic obedience and will soon start intermediate classes. This is the best way to SOCIALIZE your puppy and It’s a very small amount to pay, the investment will last a lifetime. Dog parks are full of untrained and even aggressive dogs. Ask yourself this; would you let your kids play with a bunch of other kids that you don’t know unsupervised Or with someone qualified to watch and educate them. Not sure about the negative reviews but looks like it’s more from people that treat their pets like babies, DOGS ARE NOT BABIES. They need to be corrected to learn, some more harshly than others and there as never been an instance where the trainer was mean to the dog or to me, it would be counter productive anyway. There’s a big difference between mean and firm, dogs have different temperaments (like humans) and some are softies and some are very stubborn. Training should be viewed as « training yourself how to train your dog » . The material is offered and basic obedience is basic obedience, doesn’t matter which breed. Dogs are not robots and if you don’t do it properly you will not succeed. That’s my opinion. More...
