Excellent restaurant! Great service. We had cheese, charcuterie and dessert. Everything was delicious, fresh and of high quality. Price is fair and reasonable. Amazing food! I ordered the salmon and gnocchi and they were simply delightful! The plates (like the restaurant intend it) are small but their focus is on freshness, presentation and quality which they perfect! Hats off to the chefs who made my night a night to remember! I would recommend this restaurant without hesitation but count on paying at least 50-80$ per person without any alcool, for enough food to be full.The place and decor is quite nice, by setting a nice romantic mood. Smaller portions to allow multiple plates, incredible flavours, and always great drinks for pairing. This place came highly recommended from a few locals and websites I researched before going to Ottawa. On the second night we finally got to have dinner here and it was worth the wait. We had a large group and it's kind of quaint so we had to wait a few minutes before being seated but everything we had was phenomenal! I didn't personally taste everyone's food but everyone raved about their meals. A few folks shared the charcuterie, my mother had the roasted mushrooms soup, and we all tasted the Ermite Bleu cheese which was excellent! I had the scallops for dinner and they were delicious. Other dishes that folks raved about: Grilled Flat Iron Steak, Prawns, and the Ricotta Gnocchi. The Red Zinfandel Blend wine was fruity and smooth and I personally loved it! What can I say that was not already said...The food is simply perfect, the cheese selection had us rolling on the floor (especially with the maple sauce! ) and the selection of alcoholic beverages was ample and satisfying (bonus points for the puns in the names :D). Every bite is delicious. Service is impeccable. We ordered the squid (cooked to perfection), soco salmon (the crispy skin in so yummy! ), prosciutto and burrata (perfect pairing), the fettuccine with duck ragu (a must try!!!), and the steak and frites (its good, but pales in comparison to the pasta)Serving size is small for its pricing. All I can say is Wow - the food & service here is amazing. It's not cheap - but you won't regret splurging on yourself. In addition, they have an incredible selection of wines - but if like me you don't know anything about wine, they have paired it really well with their dishes!

This was a great experience for me and my husband. The food was incredible and the service stellar. We are self proclaimed foodies and we prefer well thought out dishes. It's amazing how many places simply don't season a dish properly! Not at Play, everything was done perfectly. The small plate size were perfect. We got 5 items to share between the two of us. We sat at the bar and got to watch the bartenders create spectacular drinks. The wine list was extensive, they had rare wines that we would never expect to be available by the glass. Great food and excellent wine pairings. Service was spot on. Great place to go with friends and share good times. The only reason it's 4 stars is the price point. My suggestion would that the wine pairings be proportionate to the food serving. Each glass is 14$, it adds up when your having multiple plates which is what the experience is suppose to be.
