After consulting with several landscaping companies for a significant landscaping project at our home, we decided to proceed with Matthew and his project team due to the professionalism and confidence that was instilled in us and in short, we were NOT disappointed. From planning, design (including collaborative software use) thru project completion, we cannot say enough about the product quality, service delivery, subject-matter expertise and overall commitment to client satisfaction. The service, quality of work, design developed for our backyard, budget, and date of completion provided by Matthew and his crew were excellent. Matthew is a very approachable person; he kept in touch with us in regards to the construction of the backyard patios and landscaping, and he was always open to suggestions. The guys who are part of his work crew are very hard working and excellent craftsmen. They are very skillful in the use of machinery and materials. We are very satisfied with the design of the backyard; it is not only attractive but also very distinctive in appearance. Given the proximity of sunlight and the overall layout of the backyard, the plants and trees were well chosen. In regards to the budget, Matthew worked with us in order to provide not just a product that is rich in appearance, but also, one that fits into our budget. I am pleased to write this review for Horvath Contracting. I contacted Matthew after seeing the amazing work he had done at the home of one of our neighbours, and reading very positive reviews about Horvath online. I was impressed with Matthew from the first time I contacted him. I briefly explained what I was after and he was at our home later that day to look at our front yard, and spent a good deal of time with us discussing what we would like. Soon after, he came by with a plan for the front stonework and landscaping. This was followed by three other online meetings, honing in on exactly what would be done. This entire design process was quick and simple. His quote was a very thorough line-by-line description of the work to be done and materials to be supplied. Matthew was flexible, a good listener, and obliging with items I wanted or didn’t want. His design was refreshingly different than our proposed design. This made me feel like I was getting a whole new look which better fit the style of our traditional home. I appreciated Matthew thinking ‘outside the box’ and explaining why he was making the recommendations he made. In addition to the stonework, the landscape (plantings) design was gorgeous. The plants he chose are unique (so different than what we had before), and will bring the entire front of our home to life! We got several other quotes from other contractors and were very pleased to find Horvath was competitive and very fair. When the decision was made to proceed, he and his crew (Antonio and Corey) arrived that same day and started preparing for the job. It was completed quickly and thoroughly. The crew worked hard, were professional, polite and tidy. They consulted with me several times throughout the job, asking for my opinion and ensuring that I was pleased with everything they were doing. I am very glad I chose Horvath Contracting to create our beautiful front entrance. It makes me happy to see it every time I step out my front door or drive up to my house. We are already getting compliments from family and neighbours. We absolutely appreciated the process of first working through and finalizing a design, which given our previous renovation experiences, is a critical foundation to a successful project.

The quote was very detailed and enabled us to adjust different components and understand how it impacts the final price. The overall pricing was competitive, and we were able to remain within budget, while still working through all the little things that arise with any major project. Horvath Design and Build was in our neighbourhood and asked the right questions to further provide a quote. Matthew came over and met my wife and I personally and showed us exactly what he planned on doing. He also used technology to help us understand some of the finer details. We chose Horvath Design because of the professional approach to contracting landscape renovation. We indicated our potential design, set an estimated budget and an expectation of when we would like the work to be completed. The team at Horvath met these requirements with a professionally written contract, timelines, payment expectations, educated us on change order requests in case we wanted to change the design midstream or add new work.

They built a ~500sqft patio and excavated a garden area. Also, relocated builder patio stones and made a small patio to support a shed.

2 years after the project was complete they came back and repaired some paver stones that had sunk in the patio.

Horvath Design was referred to us by a friend who had utilized them in 2013.

We had received 3 estimates prior to meeting Matthew from Horvath Design. The 3 estimates were all over the map and the presentation of the plans and pricing ranged from a piece of cardboard to a hand written piece of paper.

Matthew listened to what we thought we wanted, made recommendations, then worked with us and his designer to come up with a plan that was perfect. Matthew and his designer were extremely patient as we muddled our way through the decision-making process. The complete project was itemized with pricing and drawings so there would be nothing to argue about later.

Horvath Design was NOT the least expensive estimate we received. But, we felt the level of professionalism, attention to detail, and the communication & follow-up was the deciding factor to go with this company.

The Installation crew from Horvath Design was great. Hard working, a pleasure to talk to, always cleaned up at the end of each work day, and took pride in their work.

Matt and the Horvath team were very professional, very accommodating, and overall great guys, We had a small landscape job that evolved to a large one over the course to which Matt was quickly able to adapt and execute. Although Matt is able (and wanted) to give firm drawings, I am the type not to work on paper. I like to build towards the desired look.
