The meals were delicious, the service great. We will be back.
My wife and I had dinner at ERA after spending some time at CMHR for Friday Night Rights. Place was surprisingly lively on our arrival, with a couple of larger groups clearly celebrating some kind of special event. All good; have fun. The only caveat to this is that due to the design of the space, the acoustics made it such that it was quite “LOUD”. Again, nobody’s fault, and I can be a pretty loud guy myself at times.Server was pleasant and seemed genuine. She did get into a minor tussle with the wine when she brought to the table. Minor detail..that’s a practice thing.Pike cakes..excellent; potato latkes very good; chicken dish off the specials menu...very good. Service good..just needs a little practice. My wife and I are big eaters so as we were sharing everything including the main, we weren’t entirely sated when we left, but like I said...ravenous appetizes.Absolutely would recommend, and we will go back. It was a quiet morning and Maggie was our server. The mimosas, lattés, morning burger and creme brulée we're all delicious. I'll definitely be back.
A great way to spend a Friday evening after taking in "Friday Night Rights " at the museum. There was live music, which was excellent, although we weren't expecting it and did find it a bit loud for conversation. The food and service were great, I will definitely return. More...
Wonderful service and a locally inspired menu. The venue is beautiful.I would recommend to friends and family as a must visit.
Great experience. Great food. Good prices. We'll come back again.
Always will go back. This place has amazing food. Always something yummy to be had. Love it!!
Carrot fries are amazing! We also had pulled pork tacos which were mediocre, and shrimp caesar salad which was also just ok. I would go try other things on the menu. More...
Good food, and good service. Only complaint is lack of water refill. Would go again.
Food was awesome! Great service.
Good atmosphere service food and price.
Great food will be back! Had the chickpea and bean sloppy joe.
Super friendly people, and a lovely environment in which to enjoy a delicious and relaxing lunch.
We had visitors from out of town who were going to see the CMHR so we met for lunch at ERA before their visit. Everyone had something different from the mushroom linguini to the quinoa salad with chicken breast and the food and service were great. The one misstep was that a guest ordered the daily soup and specifically asked for it to be very very hot. When it came, it had no steam rising from it and it was lukewarm. Our very accommodating and competent server immediately whisked it away and quickly returned with a steaming hot bowl of delicious soup. We also shared the chocolate mousse cake in a jar with some excellent vanilla icecream. The patio looked beautiful with the Esplanade Bridge in the background but it was too chilly to eat outside. Something to look forward to next summer. We will definitely be back! More...
Delicious lunch, well priced & top shelf ingredients- great service. Really bistro quality.
We first encountered heavy security at the entrance of the Human Rights Museum and there was a bit of a dark maze to get to the Resturant. In keeping with the austerity of the site, it is dark and windowless. Most of the tables are very long but because of the quiet of the long weekend, we were able to obtain one of the few private tables. There was a wait before our server arrived to get drink orders and and give us water. There was a really long wait for the meals to arrive after they were ordered. I loved the pork souvlaki with arugula salad and tzatziki sauce. It was delicious. My son was disappointed with his choice from the Brunch menu, the Good Morning burger. The patty had a texture of sausage meat. Because the menu stated a beef patty, he was expecting the meat to be regular hamburger. There should be a more accurate description to avoid disappointment. I would like to see steamed fresh vegetables included on this menu for a healthy option. Salad type vegetables were the only choices available, except for unhealthy fat laden carrot fries More...
The food, ambience, entertainment (San Carlos) all exceeded our expectations. It was our first visit and we loved our entire experience. We will be back soon!
Great service and great lunch.
Great dinner - amazing location and delicious food! Highly recommended!
We had been pre warned that it would be very busy and service not up to par. That was true. It seemed the outdoor clientele received better service than those inside. As a result if delays in service, one of the desserts two of our table ordered were no longer available. There were alsoMenu items not available. My recommendation is given the increasing popularity of Wednesday evening dining, increase the serving staff and be sure to have sufficient menu items to fulfill what is on the menu. I have been here twice and both times, items were not available. For a fine dining restaurant this is unacceptable. More...
Went for dinner and for the live music. Food was surprisingly delicious and sitting on the patio with live performers was simply perfect. Music was a bit loud, so don’t expect just background music. More...
It was a very enjoyable experience.
The food is great here and tastes like the ingredients they're using is always fresh. Stephanie, the manager, is always so accommodating and so awesome to work with. We're planning to do an event here in a few months; and the food we had during the food tasting were all so good, definitely worth your money.July 2019- We had our wedding reception here and it was beautiful! Stephanie and their awesome staff were exceptional! We want to commend Stephanie for her professionalism and excellent work! She's so easy to work with. She would always respond to our inquiries right away and would give us helpful advices so our wedding would turn out great! Our wedding turned out just the way we wanted, classy and beautiful! We could not have done it without her! Thank you Stephanie! The place was set up perfectly, the food was delicious (big servings), the service was outstanding! The whole event was done exactly as we have dreamt of! Thank you so much for everything! We love this place. We definitely recommend them. ❤❤❤ More...
What a hidden gem! Have had lunch here multiple times. Always great food and great service. Wonderful decor and can always get a table.
it was a generally quiet afternoon. I had taken a young woman for her birthday to the Museum for a tour and lunch after. She really enjoyed their burger and the chocolate mouse dessert. I had the steel-head trout. I found the salad stringy and hard to manage in a restaurant setting but overall everything we had was good. The staff were thoughtful and not intrusive. More...
Carrot fries are my only complaint - deep fried carrots - no place for these on such a healthy menu
Nice place for an outside venue to listen to good music by the Doug Edmond band , beers were good ( lake of the Woods blond) chicken club average along with the hamburger considered the menus is small and not really my cup of tea , if you come for the ambience and beer or wine it’s great
Pretty good lunch. A gaggle of women very much enjoying their conversation behind and around the cashier till, I am guessing they are the servers. After a 2 minute wait one sheepishly pulled herself away from their engaging conversation to greet and seat me. They put me at a very small 2 seater up against the large window overlooking the fire extinguisher and wheelchair access button at the automatic doors. Looks like the couples get the other tables with a real view of the prairie grass gardens, oh well. Watched 2 other customers have to brush crumbs off their chairs, not a big deal but also an easy fix for attentive staff..I asked the server if she knew anywhere to get good hot sauces in Winnipeg, she said nicely she would ask kitchen staff, no one knew. So I figured I was in for a bit of a bland meal. But the nine dollar farmer’s lunch, with basic Kielbasa sliced on a bed of whole grain mustard, cauliflower and snap pea pickles, and a chunk of French bread trying to look fancy sliced in thin strips and sprinkled with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, hiding the ordinariness of the bread or so they think.. but for the price in the location it looked good on the black slate in a wooden base. A server came back with a plain white diner bread plate with a mound of olives, it seems they forgot to put them on the meal. The bread was unremarkable but at least it could mop up the yummy blend of vinegars from the pickles and leftover mustard off the plate nicely. The garlic coil stirred lower middle income childhood memories, not trying to be upper class or hipster at all. Loved it. They even had pic a pop on the menu. More...
Beautiful day to sit outside. Professional and pleasant service, good food!
I had the California club sandwich. It was delicious. The staff were very friendly. They don't have refillable drinks. The kitchen is wide open so you could see right in and watch them prepare your meal. 10% discount for Museum members. Prices are a little high, but this is a higher-end restaurant. More...
Nice ambiance and the food was very tastey. We like the open kitchen concept. The prices are quite reasonable - we were tgere for brunch. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. It was quite busy in the restaurant when we were there with a couple of large parties. Also a bit loud as there were some busy children in there at the time but happy voices so it added to the pleasant atmosphere. I would recommend it and definately return. More...
I enjoyed my time on the patio with a friend. As a vegetarian who cannot tolerate garlic, I found few food choices. I lucked out in that you happened to have tofu, which you apparently don't usually carry. The tofu was okay, not very tasty. I appreciated that I was able to get a source of protein, and not just a salad. I think a place like ERA should offer more for the vegetarian. My friend had the salmon and found it very tasty. Our server was excellent (sorry don't remember her name). More...
We were there for a special wine pairing event. Overall very nice meal and wines. First course was very good scallops and a nice Myscadet French white wine. Second course was even better Italian red wine with ricotta agnolotti. Third course was a very nice Pinotage red wine with a braised beef short rib. The meat was delicious, not every one liked the rye berry risotto. Dessert was a nice a million Gewurztraminer with home made vanila ice cream and peach galette. More...
Food was fantastic
We always enjoy coming to this wonderful place for lunch. The food is great, ambience is terrific; we simply love being here.
Loved the food, the atmosphere and the service. The staff made use feel really special especially my mom. We took her to Era's for mothers day. The price wasn't overly expensive for brunch. Totally worth it to give her a special day. More...
Great place, friendly service. Noise level is a bit loud for my liking but it won’t stop me from returning.
Great service and great food. We like to come here for a nice meal even when we're not visiting the museum.
The soup and salad required a little more seasoning.
We had brunch and visited the museum
great small wedding experience
The food is great here and tastes like the ingredients they're using is always fresh. Stephanie, the manager, is always so accommodating and so awesome to work with. Nice atmosphere, good food. Nice to be in a space that is quiet enough for conversation.Only critique - we had to wait a few minutes before we were greeted at the door.
I loved the open concept and the food presentation was amazing as well as very tasty!
Bright, flavourful and artfully presented plates using local, organic, free-trade and sustainably sourced ingredients - located right inside the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. They have a fantastic patio in the summer More...
Modern yet inviting decor draws you in. Attentive staff welcome you and make you feel at home. Delicious and beautifully presented food. Great experience!
Food favourable. Service excellent...my chair not high enough. Was exchanged out. Wanted strong tea. Done, also. Go there.
Perfect brunch place. Excellent service! Will be back soon!
Great food and great service!
Went recently for weekend brunch. The food was great and the service was excellent. Highly recommend!
Era features many new things and I am extreamly impressed this week with the chicken special. Its definetly a place to add to your Winnipeg restaurant experience!
I just was there for lunch and it was amazing. My soup and sandwich were delicious, flavorful and fresh. Then I had the creme brulee, wow it was good!
Great food, reasonable prices, and a menu that makes me want to come back at least a few more times!
Impressive restaurant for being in a museum. Fresh, hot food that was tasty to all, served by a gracious waitress.
The food and service here are stellar . Lots of choice of excellent dishes made with local ingredients. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. We always enjoy stopping here, even if we are not visiting the museum. More...
Food was very tasty and staff were very friendly and accommodating.
We had a spectacular dinner on New Years Eve. The choices were exceptional, everything from the first course to the last. The staff were friendly, joyful and shared the workload well . We had a quiet meal as a couple and were not bothered by large groups nearby, as well as a child at one table with his parents. We enjoyed the atmosphere of the room as well.We look forward to another New Years eve dinner next year. More...
Love the Bistro Burger but to upgrade the side salad to a small Caesar brought price to $19 so a bit pricey!
The food was awesome. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal The Monte Cristo sandwich was hot and good. Dessert was creme brûlée and it was a sweet delight.
First visit. Wonderful experience and will definitely be back.

Nice food and staff.
Had a good meal there.Service was very good.Didn't try enough stuff to get a good feel for the menu. Would need to go back for a more thorough assessment. Made reservations but still had to wait for a table when we got there. It's a comfortable restaurant with shared communal seating as well as smaller tables available. It is inside the human rights museum building but not within the museum itself. Fraaie bistro, goede service, heerlijk eten.
Family style seating on long tables and nice and bright with a great menu. I had the Good Morning Burger which was excellent.
Great food at a beautiful location for both the mind and spirit.
Was pleasantly surprised by the prices - thought that a restaurant at a large tourist attraction would be more expensive. Both dishes (chicken cherry wrap and watermelon/feta salad) looked and tasted great.
Five star food and service.
Food was outstanding. We went for Saturday brunch and had the burger and the croissant melt. I would highly recommend either. We also order a side of pancakes, which were huge and delicious. Great coffee, great service. Will definitely be back. More...
My friend and I were very happy to find this place! Definitely coming back!
Amazing food! Excellent first class service!
nice food and service. good for group events.
Always love the food and the excellent service at ERA.
We loved the place but more soundproofing might help. We will definitely be back.
Was there for brunch and it was outstanding. The service, the food and the atmospere were fabulous. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Very good place
Food was tasty, inventive, fresh and generously portioned. Our server was very nice and we had tons of time to enjoy our meal. Do yourself a favour and get the carrot fries! So delicious More...
Excellent food and service.
Had an outstanding evening out at Era Bistro on the patio. Fabulous food, great live music and an attentive waitress!!!
Nice selection of lunch items at reasonable prices. There are gluten free options too. Desserts are delectable.
Very nice atmosphere. There were a lot of interesting food choices. I had the chicken salad wrap with carrot fries and a cappacino, everything was delicious. The prices were reasonable for the lunch choices. If you are going to the museum this is a great choice for a bite to eat. More...
A nice casual, open bistro that has amazing food with quick and friendly service. My only complaint would be that we had to ask for butter for our bread that came with the soup. It's the best museum restaurant I've been to. More...
Great service, quiet, not overly busy and the food is fresh and delicious. They have really great muffins for dessert with saskatoon berries. Loved the soups and wraps. The waitstaff were so friendly and helpful! Great place for lunch! More...

Great place to visit for brunch, as no one thinks of going there so you will have no problem getting a table! Small menu but I still had a hard time deciding what to order because everything sounded so delicious! Ordered the Two Eggs dish and, aside from a hint of vinegar in my poached eggs (helps the egg seize up), my meal was great. Beautifully designed inside yet not stuffy feeling with more of a light, casual atmosphere. Our server was also very friendly! More...
Lovely space. Affordable menu but the food didn't blow me away. Still, a lovely spot for lunch before touring the museum.
Sitting in the patio is like an escape from the city within the city. Wonderful service :)
The food at ERA is always great and the service impeccable.
We had a lovely Mother’s Day brunch at the Bistro then made a day of touring the museum and gift store. The variety of brunch choices was more than adequate, the mimosas were delicious and desserts were lovely. We were lucky enough to have our own table for this special occasion although sitting at a communal table would be fun in other circumstances. I like the patio as well. More...
While not overwhelmingly busy and even though we had been advised of 2-hour seating, the service was slow. Our server was pleasant but certainly didn’t follow the two minutes or two bites guideline. The noise was excessive for the size and number of people in the space. The food was very good. Reasonable serving size and average cost. Lots of choices, family friendly. More...
My daughters and I enjoyed our Mothers day Brunch very much. The Banana French toast was amazing. As was the omelette croissant I had. The staff were very friendly. I'll come again! More...

A very nice restaurant in the spectacular Canadian Museum of Human Rights.
Great food. Great service. Great venue. What else do you want?
Era bistro has my favorite eggs Benedict in the city. And amazing coffee. Service is great.
Food was good, as we as the service. My group was particularly impressed because a group of 25 came in without a reservation so the restaurant was very busy. Another member of the staff, in this case I believe it was the manager, stepped up to help out with making sure we were still seen to despite the chaos, it was appreciated. More...
Excellent and friendly service! Will definitely be back
Great service (thanks Brandi!!). Maybe this bistro can add some signage either outside the entrances or just inside for those of us who’ve never visited the museum before. I now know where it is and I’ll be back More...
We had a fantastic family brunch in a beautiful setting. It is a wonderful restaurant in the most beautiful building and right in the heart of the Forks and the city.
We as usual love the food and Brandi provided us with amazing service.
Nice spot in a beautiful building. An eclectic menu with lots of vegan and vegetarian choices. Very interesting combinations, nice selection of appetizers, good salad choices. There a number of daily specials to choose from. Very limited wines by the glass, standard cocktails. A bit pricey but not bad value for the money. More...
Really nice meal, and better than what you generally expect at a museum restaurant!
A very comfortable setting for an enjoyable lunch meeting. The server Evelyn made us feel very welcome.
Great friendly service and the food, was very tasty. Desserts were creative.
Food and service were excellent. Food was served very quickly.
the food was delicious, perfect for my business meeting. Even the price was affordable and we were able to have lunch and dessert in a short amount of time.
Excellent local sourced ingredients, fantastic service, and a lovely airy open ambiance in the beautiful Canadian Museum For Human Rights. Can stop at the gift shop afterwards and or go to the museum exhibits. You don't have to pay to go into the museum to eat at Era or go to the gift shop. Museum is free on the first Wednesday of the month and that is the only night that Era is open for dinner in the evenings. More...
Delicious variety of food!! Felt 5 star for sure for a much better price tag!!
Ordered a dish that included a food item not listed on the menu that I should not be eating. It made up a large part of the dish but I ate everything that I'm allowed - which was very good. Mentioned my restriction to the waitress - she immediately offered me another dish or a comp dessert which I declined. She spoke to the manager and they compt my meal. My spouse ordered the daily pasta special and loved it! Next time I go back I'll have to ask more questions regarding my food limitations. The staff is very friendly and service was good. More...
Had a great experience here with a friend the other day! We both had strollers, the staff was really accommodating when seating us and everyone was very friendly. Had the best vanilla latte of my life and the chicken club sandwich was also very good. I'd definitely go back. More...
My wife and I had a lovely lunch. Service was friendly. Food very good - I had the burger which is substantial and tasty. Ambiance is quite unique - knowing we were in a world-class museum . Reminded us of lunch in one of the European museums...only better! More...
Fabulous all around! Great food, smart & sustainable food, great resto design in a gorgeous building, ok service but so what~
Creative, fresh and delicious menu items. Had brunch on their very private and hidden patio - it was amazing!
We were two at lunch and as it was a quiet day at ERA had no trouble reserving one of the few tables for two by a window. Service was attentive without being intrusive . Several gluten-free options on the main menu and dessert menu. The ambience is nice but is an odd juxtaposition of upscale decor with almost cafeteria-style long-table seating (10 per side), as if it can't decide if it wants to be a bustling cafeteria or an upscale quiet place. Anyway, it was quiet at lunch on a Tuesday and allowed for easy conversation and an enjoyable meal (great salad selections). More...
Went there with family for Mother's Day. First time experience and the food was incredible! The staff were friendly and accommodating and the overall ambience was quite pleasant! Would highly recommend!
I've been to ERA Bistro several times with family, friends or colleagues. We have always enjoyed the food, had great service and pleased with the prices. We'll keep coming back! :)
Excellent special of scotch egg, trout main course, and cheesecake. A superb and very knowledgable waitress also. It was quiet and very enjoyable for an anniversary dinner
As always.........great food, and great service! Carrot fries you ask?!?!?!? Seriously.......eat these and you will never go back to potatoes again!!!
Atmosphere was great. Food was good but not great.
I enjoyed our luncheon at Era, probably more than the first time I went. The waitress was friendly and accommodating. The food was very good. The carrot sticks are phenomenal! We shared a small rich dessert, but it was the perfect size because we just wanted a small bite to share. More...
Excellent service. Sunday brunch can be busy in Winnipeg but the ability to reserve a table ahead of time really influenced our decision to choose ERA. Delicious brunch options and great ambiance. More...
Good food, nice place to eat
One of the 5 meals ordered by our group was not great, but otherwise it was very good food. The restaurant was a little noisy for the business type discussion at our table.
Service was very good. Food was tasty but not hot enough, especially the soup. It would be a great place to entertain friends and family from out of town when visiting the Museum.
Nice place to take a break during a visit to the Canadian Museum of Human Rights, for a snack or meal.
I highly recommend the Chocolate Epiphany dessert. It pairs nicely with a hot cup of herbal tea on a cool evening. Service was excellent! I'll definitely return.
Loved their Eggs Benedict, I'd have them again. Tea in china pots as well.
Food was good, but service very slow. The restaurant is very noisy.
This was my first time and it was a very nice atmosphere. The menu had a nice selection and the idea of flavor profiles were good but could use better execution. Eggs Benny was tasty but was a bit cold, Saskatoon cream cheese crepe sounds delicious but was very disappointing. Crepe was a dry mouthful of cream cheese mix and the syrup was way to thin and the whole thing just didn't flow together at all More...
We go there because it is convenient if we are visiting the museum. We eat there quite often. Service is friendly and efficient. Reservations are easy to make.
Food was good. Some interesting menu items. Carrot fries were good!
Nice restaurant to go too. Parking a bit of a problem.
I enjoyed my experience at Era Bistro. The food was very good. I ordered the special because it sounded appealing to me and I really did like every course. The venue was a little cool even though I brought a sweater as I always do in A/C season. The noise level was minimal so I could talk to my friends and we could hear one another which is another plus when choosing a restaurant. They also enjoyed dining at Era and since I was responsible for the reservation, I was happy. Thank you for a satisfying dining experience. More...
we had a fantastic supper here with pickled pumpkin salad, pickerel po'boy sandwiches, and key lime tart. each and every bite was amazing. our server was fantastic (friendly and visited our table just the right amount of times. and being in our fabulous museum here in winnipeg just makes it even better. This was my first time at the restaurant. I will certainly go back.
We visited ERA Bistro because it was located at the Museum we were visiting, and the menu looked interesting. The food was delicious, but the lunch special was too big of a portion to finish (the quesadilla). The drink prices were a bit high, but overall the value of the meal was very good. We would definitely return and would also recommend it to others! More...
We came a little late, 3:15 on Sunday, but they didn't rush us to finish our meal. The food was great, service also very good. Will definitely come back soon.
The service was excellent as well as the freshly made food from local produce.
Great atmosphere, did not fell institutional at all . The mushroom soup was I of the best I have every had.
Great food and wonderful service. Staff is very polite and caring. Carrot fries are to die for.
Been there 5 or 6 times and have always had really great tasting food and really good service. The prices are comparable with other restaurants of this caliber. The restaurant has an Interesting ambiance with the building's unique architecture and scenic view of the Museum grounds. Would highly recommend! More...
I like the ambience of the bistro, the staff is always friendly and courteous. The food selection and their specials on the menu are very innovative.
I enjoyed lunch - food was good, could have had a few more menu choices, service was great. Quite noisy and didn't really like too many long tables - being forced to sit with others instead of a table to ourselves (we lucked out and got a tiny table, but had we been a few minutes later big tables were only option). Sorry that dinner service is only once per week. Overall enjoyed it and I'll likely come again. More...
We had dinner at ERA prior to touring the museum. Dinner was lovely. Food was top notch and both the server and the kitchen were attentive to accommodating my dietary restrictions.
Both the front end and the kitchen staff made eating out with a multitude of restrictions easy and painless. They made sure that everything I ate did not contain ingredients on the (long) list I provided while making sure that it was also delicious and lovely to look at. Great staff, great food.
Excellent local food. Prompt and friendly service. Will definitely go back!
The price was right, the food was very good and just the right amount for lunch. Brandi was a great waitress. A must try Bistro!
The tall grasses wave just outside the large windows, giving this unique location a bright and natural ambient setting. The simple fare is thoughtful and creative: a baked potato soup was perfect on a wintery day and pickerel was featured in two menu items: how appropriate for the geography. The pickerel was a little overdone, and the service was fair. Both could be improved with a little training and care, but the setting and menu make this restaurant a must. More...
In spite of a minor problem with reservation (I booked on line and time shown was after hours but accepted. the staff seated my friend and I with apologies for the shortened time we'd be able to sit. . our orders were delivered promptly and, as always, delicious...the server attended to our every need and the manager also spoke to us regarding the hours and reservation glitch..we were more than satisfied with every aspect of our time at Era More...
We had a lovely brunch here on a Sunday. We had the eggs benny- one with the potato rosti (yummy) and one with the salad (healthier choice but the potato was better). Food was great , good presentation. Service was helpful , courteous , organized but not over bearing.

I had lunch on the outdoor patio, which has a beautiful view of the building and surrounding native prairie landscaping. They could use a few more umbrella to shade customers, but otherwise it is a very pleasant space on a warm day, tucked away from street traffic. The chicken club sandwich I ordered was very tasty and I would definitely order it again. The raspberry puree they add to the home-made iced tea is a nice touch. More...
Had the pleasure of dining at ERA Bistro this past weekend. We were impressed with the menu selections and the reasonable pricing. The restaurant was a little smaller than I had anticipated so I was glad that we had made a reservation. Both the greeter and the server were friendly and helpful and had great menu knowledge. Timing was absolutely perfect we never felt rushed or like we were waiting for something. I would not hesitate to return. More...

Had lunch with my wife here on the recommendation of our son. Great little restaurant with a menu full of fresh ideas and reasonable lunch prices. My wife is a vegan and had no problem finding something to eat from the menu. More...
The food is awesome, reasonably priced and i loved the ambiance!
This is my second time at Era and it was amazing. I took some of my family and they really enjoyed it. We will be back
Great food. Excellent service. Pleasantly surprised. Restaurant wasn't overly busy, this place hasn't been discovered by the masses of foodies yet
great ambience after reflecting at human rights museum
From the appetizers, through the mains, and to the desserts, everything was absolutely delicious and perfectly prepared. The Martini's were some of the best we've ever tasted. Our server was both friendly and fun, and took great care of us. More...
Firstly the architecture was amazing it fits incredibly with the museum. The open kitchen is a great first sight when you walk in. The extremely high ceiling and concrete floor do project sound way too much however if you get a table in the back it's much quieter. Communal tables mixed with horrendously loud chairs make it quite awkward to sit next to another group and if the other group is loud obnoxious or rude it ruins the whole dining experience. Servers are very accommodating and polite, happy and energtic could be a bit more knowledgeable to the menu and portion sizes(mostly with respect to a la carte sides) and how to group orders into courses. Food was excellent, seasoned perfectly minor issues with doneness. All courses were displayed beautifully, definate art infused dishes. All round worthwhile visit , most likely more enjoyable in the summertime as parking is distant. More...
Read my little entry about Era on my blog. There are few Filipino words, very minimal. :)http://dennisrenda.blogspot.ca/2015/02/date-night.html
With great trepidation (as there had been a very negative review in the newspaper) we arrived at era bistro for our 7pm Saturday night reservation. We enjoyed everything about the experience. The room is beautiful, the service was attentive, the menu interesting. We sampled a variety of appetizers, mains and desserts. The best choices were the butternut squash soup, the beet salad, the carrot fries, the salmon served two different ways, the mango mousse in a jar, and the chocolate cherry cheesecake. The wine list is small but the house red was perfectly acceptable. Will definitely recommend this reataurant. Has a real NYC feel. More...
Great wine list, great bilingual service in French, great atmosphere and décor, friendly and attentive service, great to see local and fairly traded fare on the menu. The food was good, but not outstanding, nonetheless the presentation was excellent. The young lady who served us was friendly, attentive and spoke French (which is important to me), however she had really bad body odor which probably made the food less appetising. More...
Three of us dined here Feb. 11th and left feeling happy and well-fed. All our main courses were beautifully plated, delicious and perfectly done in tenderness and temperature; the chicken, beef short rib and the vegetable wellington. We discovered some new wine selections in town and were not disappointed with the choice made after requesting a taster of two of the reds profiled in the menu. The server for the evening was knowledgeable about the menu as well as the wines; she was friendly, helpful and accommodated all of our requests with style and grace. As for the ambiance of Era, I was pleasantly surprised after being forewarned that it was very spartan. On the contrary, I found it to be beautifully clean and uncluttered in design. The window vista overlooking the hill of prairie grasses in winter was lovely. The massive nine-ringed overhead sculpture that dominates the dining room ceiling is intriguing and the open-concept kitchen is perfect for diners who are interested in the dynamics of fine cuisine. The interior temperature of the room was cozy and warm adding to the ambiance of this interesting new find. We will return often to sample the menu and enjoy the atmosphere of Era. More...
Best beet salad in the city. Great Bannock! Food portions were appropriate. Server Alex was professional and pleasant as was the hostess. My only complaint would be that we had a difficult time finding the entrance, the main museum doors were locked with the exception of the handicapped automatic door? Had I not tried that, we would've been walking around the building trying to get in? More...
This was our second time at ERA. Food was excellent! I am a foodie and really appreciate the distinct flavours and attention to detail taken by the chefs and the staff at ERA. Thanks
Considering it is a national museum this restaurant doesn't fail to maintain the high quality feel. Good food, expected pricing for where we were and good spot if someone wants to take someone for a date (you are at the forks after all). Waitress made sure we enjoyed our food and when one of my picky friends didn't like her food because it wasn't what she googled, they replaced it with anything else she wanted on the menu. Worth the dinner for service and delicious food. More...
This restaurant is MIND BLOWING. Great service, phenomenal dishes and beautifully decorated. I can't wait to go again and try more things on their menu!
First time around, four meals (finally) arrived at least 5 minutes before the fifth (last), so, as we politely waited, all our food was cold. Mine STILL tasted wonderful - but would have been better at the specified temperature. None of my four companions was overly excited about THEIR food. This time, the waiter was outstanding - except that he steered me toward a different dish which was quite pedestrian. The food arrived in good time (and all together!), and the service was light years better than the first time. Maybe third time, I'll enjoy superlative food AND service? More...
Nice take on some locally sourced Manitoban ingredients. Tried the beet salad, delicious if you like marinated beets ( which I do). Also had the small plate Arctic char with capers, which was a delicious combination of flavours and textures. More...
A perfect experience, in every way but one -- the coffee (plentiful. not bitter, and always at the ready) and the delicious lamb served me could both have been notably hotter than they were. Ought they have arrived sooner? My yummy open-face sandwich, though exceedingly flavourful, simply wasn't HOT - merely tepid in temp; more unfortunate still, so was the coffee.Portion sizes - just right. Presentation - impressive, gorgeous. Interior climate & setting - wonderful. Service - attentive, mannered, lovely people. Marvellous menu!! Cost - about what you'd expect for all this. (mid-range midday prices). Highly recommended. More...
The service was amazing, one of our members arrived late and we had already ordered. They rushed her order and she had her food at the same time as us. It was perfect. Will definitely be coming back again. More...
We were here on Sunday. It was not very busy with only two other parties. We had the tomato bisque, which was outstanding and the chicken clubhouse sandwich. The service was attentive and pleasant. Well done! More...
Excellent food in a unique environment. Very attentive service. Great modern décor, great for groups. We enjoyed our brunch and will definitely be going again.
ERA Bistro was a huge surprise. Nestled in a corner of the ground floor of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) in Winnipeg, we figured lunch would be matter-of-fact and nothing particularly special as the content and architecture of the museum are the two main attractions. WRONG. The food was simply delicious (albeit more pricey than I think appropriate); the service excellent. We gather ERA Bistro also caters the special events in the museum (private parties, meetings etc) and have just heard that a recent dinner for 25 was out of this world. Congratulations, Era Bistro! Open kitchen concept Bistro in a unique setting at the new Human Rights Museum. Good moist burger with a special subtle sauce accompanied with good fries . The lamb on froicccia was delicious. The lime sorbet was very refreshing. Recommended! More...
I found the food interesting but expensive. I started with a Cosmopolitan, Appitizer was Short Rib Poutine crisp fingerling potato, red wine braised beef short rib, buffalo mozzarella to start, Entree was a 12oz ‘Prime’ Ribeye ERA seasoned, rosemary, crisp onion, Wild Ricealmond, squash, dried cherry, parsley, and a B-52 coffee to finish. All in all the food was good and served in a timely manner. I did find the atmosphere a bit noisy because the kitchen is open to the dinning area. More...
The staff member who called to confirm our reservation was very friendly and professional. The room has a cool vibe and is a great spot to grab a bite while checking out the museum. I ordered a salad which would have been an ok size as a starter, thank goodness I ordered an added chicken breast because it was a very tiny portion and not enough for lunch. I would have liked to have known it was this small. My friends ordered sandwiches and fries which they said were very good. I will come again and order more! More...
Excellent food, wonderful service! Staff are very well trained. Great to see the chefs at work.
Everything we tried was tasty and the service was excellent.
Food was delicious, good interesting choices, nice ambience. I'll be back.
The food was superb. The service was outstanding. We had asked for a private table and had a beautiful view of the bridge. Everything was fantastic. Will definitely return. More...
The food and service were wonderful. This is an excellent restaurant, a true unknown gem.
Stopped in for some wine and appetizers. We ordered about 6 different things, everything was great! Loved the fair trade options on the menu. The patio will be great in the summer More...
Initial greeting was fantastic. Hosts and servers were pleasant and accomodating. Enjoyed the use of the space. Food was prepared quickly, however one of our group members did not receive their meal until after we had all started eating. Food was good, enjoyed the small menu but found there was alot of seafood items which isn't particularly pleasing to myself. The restaurant was noisy which made it difficult to talk. I would not plan a romantic date there but I found it was a great spot for a casual lunch with friends. Again was impressed with the hosts and servers as well as the professionalism displayed in the open kitchen which appeared clean and organized. unique place to take friends and visiots to Winnipeg. Great food and good service. Everybody have ti try the passion fruit desert!!
New restaurant so glad we tried it. Food was good but there was nothing standout about the experience. Sparkling water was a nice touch. Pricey limited menu.
The meal and the service were superb! I think it will become an Winnipeg restaurant gem!
