Not much to say that hasn't already been said about this excellent place. It's always busy for a reason. Very good pastries and petits gâteaux, especially the croissants and duke cake. The macarons are the best in Edmonton with some interesting varieties such as gorgonzola fig.Coffee is great - espresso is fantastic although slightly under-extracted. Still better than most coffee shops who claim to specialize in this sort of thing.A variety of frozen take-and-bake options and two different cookbooks are available for visitors or those looking to try some of the recipes themselves.Lineups and limited seating detract from the overall experience, so make sure you are feeling patient before you go. Very nice place to enjoy a tea or coffee with friends. The confections are beautiful even if i chose not to indulge. Service was a bit slower than expected, but it is not meant to be fast paced. I enjoyed chai tea latte with almond milk. More...

Cute bakeshop with a lot of pasties and pies. They had a menu for breakfast, too, that looked pretty good. The line was a bit long and it took a while - the staff seemed to move a bit slowly, given how busy it was. Everything looked delicious, so it was hard to choose what to get. I settled on the brioche pepin. It was good, but not as good as it looked. Would definitely return to try other things! More...

The Duchess is my favourite place to recommend in Edmonton. Traditional French style bakery with a warm and bright atmosphere. It’s modern with classic touches throughout. The food is amazing—pain au chocolat, butter tarts, key lime pie. I’d highly recommend getting there early because the word is out and this place is almost always busy. My only complaint is that they don’t always offer croissant sandwiches (these might be the greatest thing I’ve ever eaten). More...

Beautiful experience. The the decor is so elegant and warm and the food is unique and delicious. They have so many creative treats and drinks and is made in house. They also have a good selection of some hard to fund baking items so whether it's to pick up some ingredients and their cook book to make something at home or to relax with a coffee and a sweet treat. In a great location with lots of other interesting places to visit as well. Check this place out!!! More...

An excellent selection of pastries and baked goods. If you have a sweet tooth, you are going to be in some trouble trying to make your mind up in what you want to try. It can get real busy at peak times but if you have some time to take a stroll on 124th, make your way to duchess as you won’t be disappointed. More...

Hands down the best 'fancy' bakery in the city. Prices are a bit high, but you're getting quality for what you're paying for. It's usually packed though, so if you're looking for a quiet sit down to chat, you're usually better off taking food to go. More...

Pricey but well worth it. I once bought some short breads and compared them to another bakery just as an experiment (and totally not due to a shortage for a large party) and you can see the quality in texture and color. Anything from Duchess can be served at a royal wedding just off right off the shelf. More...
