I graduated from the Global Makeup Artistry Program in 2018. It was a wonderful experience and one of the best years of my life. The teachers were thorough, supportive, and well experienced at their craft. I learned a great deal from attending Blanche MacDonald and can completely understand why it is the industry leader for schools. I started the Professional-Hair program at Blanche Macdonald Centre in September of 2018, since then BMC has become my second home. Classmates have become close friends and instructors support us in every way, teaching us valuable life lessons. We have become a family. Three months into our program I had the opportunity to join and compete in "BC Skills Canada" and took home the bronze medal in that competition. After that many more opportunities came along, I have gotten to work with multiple artists designing looks for photoshoots and the runway. I also have gotten hired at Moods, a prestigious hair salon in Vancouver. When I'm not in school or at work I am working as a freelance artist doing bridal looks. I am soon to be a graduate of Blanche Macdonald from the full-time Professional Hairstyling Program and for me, the past year has been nothing but amazing. The friendships I've made from this school will last a lifetime and I'm so grateful that this school has been able to let me meet and connect with people I never would have an opportunity to if I hadn't gone to Blanche. So many of the teachers were so supportive and pushed me to my limits in the greatest way. Coming into the program I was very lost and wasn't sure where I was going career wise, but from the help and guidance of the instructors I am now well on my way to a bright future. All the 10 levels of the Pro-Hairstyling Program prepared me very well for the industry and gave me all the skills I need to succeed. Throughout this program, there were so many opportunities that had opened up for me, and one of them was the Skills Canada Hair Competition. My instructor Renata was a great mentor throughout the months I had trained hard with her. I developed advanced skills that propelled me to second place at the regional competition. The other opportunities that have opened up for me was for work and volunteering experience which has given me great contacts in the industry and had landed me employment at an amazing salon. Even nearing my graduation this school is continuing to help me by still recommending opportunities past my graduation date. I graduated from Blanche Macdonald attending the 12 month Global Fashion Marketing class. This school was everything I was expecting and so much more starting with the great teachers and community surrounding it. Every teacher has so much passion for the industry and are wanting to educate the students. Every class I took at Blanche has been applicable to my future in this industry. I recently graduated from the Fashion Marketing Diploma program last year and I couldn't be happier with my experience at Blanche. The instructors are super knowledgable, helpful, caring and passionate. Many of them are presently working in the industry so the information/curriculum is current and up-to-date. The program is condensed and the course load can be pretty heavy. However, whatever you put into this program is exactly what you'll get out of it in the end. I graduated from a 12-month Fashion Design Diploma Program in September 2018. I think the program is great. It was pretty intense, compact, fast-faced, focused, seriously stuffed with weekly homework, and that, for me, made the program great. If you intend to brush up your knowledge in fashion design, this program is for you. If you are investigating if fashion design is your calling, this program is for you. I've been going there to get my hair done for about 2 years now, roughly every 3 to 4 months. I've had a great experience 90% of the time, both with the person working on my hair, and the instructors who walk around and check the students' work. It does take longer than a regular salon because the students are practising what they learned, but outside of that, they know their stuff, have good technique for cutting, dying and styling, and honestly, I've even had students offer to get me a Stbx coffee or put more money in the parking meter while my hair was being colored - super super sweet gesture. I attended the Fashion Marketing program at BMC, and I couldn't be happier with the course! The classes offered cover such a large spectrum in the industry, and leave graduates with an understanding of a variety of fields. Some classes offered are intro, and others more in-depth. However, this program allowed me to find which sector of the industry I would thrive in! And I couldn't be more grateful. In light of this, the real reason to attend Blanche Macdonald is the access students are given to the career director's large network. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Blanche Macdonald in the Global Fashion Marketing program, and would highly recommend the program to any one interested in a career in fashion. I learned so much in the last year, and gained valuable hands on experiences through the classes offered, as well as the outside volunteer opportunities, such as working backstage at fashion shows, re-branding and visual merchandising for a clothing boutique, and interning at a local modelling agency. In my opinion, the top three aspects of BMC are:1. The wide range of subjects offered, giving you a taste of all the possible career options available in the industry 2. The teachers, who all work in the industry and have valuable knowledge and skills to offer their students3. The connections, making it easy to network and gain experience and/or employment opportunities The best advice I received when starting at BMC was that "what you put into the program is what you'll get out of it". The classes and projects are very intensive, but you will really thrive in the program as long as you put your full effort in and are open to all opportunities and experiences that come your way. I've done things in the last year that I never would have imagined myself doing, and I secured a job that I love in the industry before I had even graduated. Just graduated from the Fashion Marketing program and words cannot describe how amazing the experience was. You gain so much knowledge and experience in just one year that by the end of the program, you're a different person. I have made connections and met people that I would never have had an opportunity to meet if I hadn't gone to Blanche and I am so grateful for that. The lectures are very hands on, you get to work on projects that are similar to the real world job and instructors bring in some great illustrations it really gives you a clear picture of what it would be like to work in different areas of the fashion industry. Blanche Macdonald is an amazing school. I graduated from the global fashion marketing program this past spring and I absolutely loved it. The classes are fantastic. All of the content you learn is up-to-date and extensive but still interesting and engaging. The instructors are all phenomenal. I don't think I had a single class where the teacher wasn't incredibly knowledgeable and supportive. Plus they are all actively work in the industry, so they can give you such clear and up-to-date insight on what the fashion industry is like. Peggy and Donna are particularly awesome. I also really loved the school's career department. Mel is so great. She has amazing connections for volunteer/job experience and she gives great advice that will help you succeed. She also has really keen sense for connecting you with positions that would a be a good fit for you. Classes are small so it's easy to connect with other students and to make friends. I met some of my best friends through Blanche. The fashion marketing program is only one year, and while it's hard work that requires lots of discipline, it’s also so much fun. if you are looking for a school with a strong administration and staff who personally cares about its students and pays attention to detail then this is the school you want to check out. I had a tour of Blanche Macdonald for the Spa Esthetician Program and I felt very welcomed from the moment I stepped in the office. I was welcomed by Susan Lee-Shipley who answered all my questions about attending school. To be honest I did not think school would be a possibility for me at this time as my husband and I had moved from Ontario to British Columbia less than a year ago and expenses were a bit tight. School finances can be difficult and stressful to talk about and Susan made sure to explain everything in details, writing everything down which was very important to me. I also had a chance to talk to Alexa from financial aid and she was able to breakdown all fees and explain the application process. I had a tour of the school and facilities even stepping into a classroom for 5 minutes to listen in and I could already picture myself in the classroom. I highly suggest you tour the treatment rooms (if they are available) as this is where you will spend the majority of your time. I left that day feeling so happy and hopeful, all my questions had been answered. I know that this is where I am meant to go to school. I have been a student at Blanche since January 2017. I took a break after 6 months and couldn’t wait to return this year. I have since met some pretty talented and great people at the school . I have liked all of my instructors they sincerely care. Also, their talent and knowledge of the industry is both diverse and impeccable, to tell the truth, I can’t even say who is my fav. For the first time in my life, I actually like all my teachers. It’s a bonus that they work in the industry. I have learned so much since I’ve been there and the support from the instructors has been more than I could ask for. Since I have been there longer than the average student, I feel I have had more time to get to know the instructors and they truly make the school what it is ....... a great place to learn the art of makeup. Speaking as a recent graduate, attending school at Blanche was probably one of the best decisions I made to kick off my career as a makeup artist. The teachers have all worked industry and give amazing tips and tricks and are extremely supportive and approachable.
