What inspired you to start your own business?
Bob Hoevenaars graduated from Electrical Engineering UWO in 1984. He wanted to remain in London but engineering jobs were scarce. After a year in an electro-mechanical position, he decided that electronic detection systems were going to have a solid future and launched Alarmtech Security Systems Inc. He later re-branded to Alarmtech Systems for Life to reflect the advances in detection of lifestyle concerns such as fire, flood, sump pump failure and remote notifications to receive information about alarm activity when children return from school or when the house is unoccupied.
