Filled in two basement windows with poured concrete, one with a row of glass blocks. Poured concrete patio 26x10 feet. Corrected grading of lot for better drainage. I am 56 years old and I have hired many different contractors to work on the houses I have lived in. I was the general contractor for a house that I built in 2012, and from that experience there are only two contractors that I would hire again. I wish that I knew Action Restoration during that project because they would have made my life a lot easier. The owner is not only excellent at doing the work he is instructed to do, but he is also a valuable consultant with lots of good advice, experience, and problem solving skills. He thinks ahead and he can be trusted. When you phone Action Restoration, the owner answers the phone. You deal with him from the first phone call to the last handshake. You explain everything to him, and he will be at your house doing the work, and any changes that need to be made as the work progresses can be quickly dealt with on the spot because the boss is right there doing the work. I look for that kind of relationship when I hire contractors. I prefer that to the companies where you first deal with an estimator or manager who then delegates the work to one of his work crews who you never meet until they show up at your house to do the work, sometimes with an incomplete understanding of what needs to be done. The best way to be successful in life is to surround yourself with good smart people, and then listen to them. The owner of Action Restoration is definitely one of the people you need to listen to if you are embarking on a concrete or masonry project, big or small. Foundation repair and grading This is the second time we have hired Action Restoration and we were just as pleased as the first time. We recently moved to our new home and were aware of water penetrating the basement at the back of the house. We had such a great experience with Action at our previous house that without hesitation, we called *******. The guys at Action are hard workers, trustworthy, knowledgeable, solution based and reliable. They repaired, sealed and added drainage to 2 of our foundation walls. They carefully raised our garage to be able to pour a new slab and fix our grading problem. The water issue is long gone and our basement is dry as a bone. I had some issues with stucco (water damage in one corner). I called Action Restoration and left a message. My message was returned quickly and appointment set for the same day. Arrived on time and did a thorough review of the issue. During the appointment the estimator was very honest - advised that this kind of work will require a specialized company and provided a reference. I really appreciate the advice. Had them repair cracks to the foundation. Dug to the footing where the cracks ended. Used latest methods and materials for maximum results. Also did parging all around the house. Outstanding! *******, *********, clearly explained the problem and what was required to fix my chimney. After getting other estimates, I decided to go with *******'s company who had also provided a competitive estimate for the work. He and his helper, ****, showed up promptly at the scheduled time and worked tirelessly in extremely hot conditions. As it was a 2 day job, they cleaned up at night and left the work area very clean. They finished the job on time the next day, on budget, and my re-built chimney (stone, not brick) looks amazing! ******* did a great job at matching the new stone to 60 year old original stone. My neighbour was so impressed that he hired them on the spot to do a similar job. I met ******* at the Home Show and he immediately invited me to go check out the competition. He then explained the process to me including timelines and price. The day of the renovation his crew was on time and very careful around my home, including ensuring that my dogs did not get out of the yard. We wanted the crack repaired before the company bricking our home arrived. He said they would do it by that time but to pls contact him closer to the day if we hadn't heard from him by then. He also brought a smaller crack to our attention around one of our basement windows. He at 7 am two weeks prior to our deadline and did a great job. Action Restoration was engaged to replace cracked and crumbling bricks on the exterior of the chimney and to resurface the fireplace brick. The work to be done was promptly assessed and thoroughly explained. Even though it was a number of months before we were ready, Action Restoration remained with the original quote for the complete job. I get nervous and apprehensive any time I am about to make a big decision, financially or otherwise, when it comes to major renovations to my family's home. I cannot say enough positive things about my experience with Action Restoration. ******* and his crew responded immediately when I called about leak that was spreading across my basement carpet. Not only did the crew help to divert drainage water away from my house, but the owner himself, *******, took on the onerous job of vacuuming the water out of the carpet himself since I didn't own a wet-dry vac. Action Restoration provided me a timely estimate of the work that would need to be conducted to waterproof my 70-year old house **************************. **************** and his crew replaced the crumbling stone foundation under the long wall of my old house and I will have him replace the foundation at the front now. He is respected by the engineer who prepared the permit application. He is obviously very competent in assessing and repairing complex problems in foundations and walls. When needed he calls in experts (eg building engineer, soil engineer) to ensure that he takes the best possible course. When I asked him at one point whether he regretted taking on my job, since the foundation was so bad, he said 'I like a challenge". The city approved the work he has done. I contracted Action Restoration last week to fix the outer foundation of my home. We purchased the house a month earlier and had started a basement renovation when when we discovered mold behind the drywall. We were advised it was a foundation issue. **************** came to my home and did a thorough examination of the foundation. He examined the foundation and dug holes at various locations to assess what he thought should be done to repair the problem. He then provided a quote. The following week he came and dug up all around our foundation (outside) and repaired the whole thing. He had to dig up plant beds and move some larger trees...then it snowed. However he was prepared for that and ******* and his team completed the job and put everything back together as it was before they started. He is a total pro.After completing the outside, he did some further work on the inside to ensure we had proper foundation seal and everything was vented and working properly. ******* is very straight forward and honest.
