I'm just finishing up volunteering as a Plus One Mentor with my second youth and taking a break from the program to focus on my own school work for the next little while. I, however, wanted to share my experience in case it might encourage others to volunteer as there are many youth in need of a mentor. Where communities used to raise children, parents are now often left on their own. Plus One gives at-risk youth, the opportunity to spend time with an adult in a safe setting where the attention is all focused on them. It allows them the opportunity to talk openly, see their own worth and hopefully have some fun. More...

Have been a member over 20 years. The staff is wonderful. Many volunteers which are appreciated. I volunteered when my children were in Play School. Now my son volunteers as well. They still have the quality, personality and take their purpose seriously to provide the service. We love the new family rate. The karate classes are great! $35 a year! My husband and daughter go 3 times a week. The child minding staff are great. Great place but for kids programs it's a lot of the same thing Legos table my kids find long and boring, workers don't show or interact wirh kids to be creative on different ways of building with Legos . This class should be changed to something more interesting for children to keep there interest. Most of the kids looked bored and we're just sitting talking to each other. Hopefully soon it will be changed or they could add other things to this class since there's about 3 classes of this a week... Please More...

I've been a member of many gyms and aquatic facilities and in my opinion the YMCA is far superior to any of them. Super nice staff, top of the line gym equipment, pool is perfect temp and not too busy. Even though it can be a little more expensive (particularly if you want the Plus membership) I still prefer it. The Plus membership is totally worth it for me as a swimmer because I don't have to worry about bringing towels or locks and I love the hot tub. More...
