Services

At Westminster House, we provide web-based programs that specialize in family support and addiction treatment and co-occurring conditions, such as anxiety, depression, and other psychological issues. Our complimentary assessments provide a careful throughout recommendation of where to start in our extensive program, keeping in mind the unique and individual needs of every client. In addition, our virtual recovery program offers peer support, recovery coaching, addiction counselling, clinical counselling, group sessions, and aftercare. Other areas of support are grief counselling, trauma, parental coaching, and counselling for stress, anxiety and depression. All our clients are supported from a strengths-based perspective. Westminster House facilitators are registered recovery coaches, certified addictions counsellors, registered clinical counsellors, and master-level counsellors

We provide bed-based addiction recovery services to Youth and Emerging Adults (YEAP). During the stay, they explore the core issues that led to their addiction. The youth and emerging adult program present the framework and an action plan that leads to sustainable recovery.

The YEAP lives in a separate facility within the Westminster House campus. The peer-to-peer environment supports the youth to be supervised at all times. Youth and Emerging Adults are supported to improve overall functioning via participation in long-term residential addiction treatment using our unique Social Model.

In a collaborative framework, Westminster House conducts thorough primary and ongoing assessments that result in individualized, goal-oriented, and person-centred treatment and provided one-to-one support with their Case Worker in scheduled sessions or as needed.

Westminster House believes that group counselling is part of a holistic, living, healing process. Staff and clients participate in a community of recovery where peers review old behaviours, thoughts, and values. New goals and associations are encouraged. Employing multidisciplinary approaches developed through 39 years of group process, group sessions cover 12 Steps, skills development, value clarification, alcohol and drug education, self-esteem, goal setting, boundary setting, conflict resolution, creating and maintaining change, attitudes, self-awareness, relapse prevention, accountability, feeling identification, problem-solving, social responsibility, intimacy, and health. Group sessions are conducted daily.

Family Support is a resource established to assist family members and friends affected by addiction. Family Support Groups provide access to knowledgeable professional staff who offer families assistance and support when they are substance affected.

Often families blame themselves or feel tremendous guilt. It is important as the client becomes emotionally healthy that the families do as well. Most of all, when families become part of the process, the outcome of success increases. Families benefit from knowing what is happening at the house day today. They also benefit from learning the 12-step philosophy and language. This gives the family hope and something to work towards together.

Family members are guided to work on their own issues, develop self-care techniques, and learn how to support their loved ones. Continuing care recommendations are given to family members to support their ongoing recovery.
