My wife and I were just in Canmore to celebrate our anniversary. By happenstance, we were served elsewhere by one of the Trough's beloved customers, who highly recommended we dine there. She was kind enough to book us a reservation at her favorite table, and we were not disappointed!! The food was amazing, service was top notch, the frequent visits to our table by the owner to welcome us and learn more was beyond words. It was neat they had a basic menu, 6 appetizers, and 6 main courses, but wow, the food was excellent! A big city experience in a smaller centre. We highly recommend The Trough to anyone! More...

I dined at the Trough last night with family. The experience was nothing short of spectacular. It was enhanced by the fact that Richard, one of the co-owners, was from Wales, my home country. Richard was so friendly and charming. The food was amazing. All locally-sourced ingredients made for fabulous flavour combinations that made our mouths water. Chef Owned and operated, they did a great job, servers may not have had that much experience but did a very good job. Presentations of food were Spot On, we are returning for a second time in the week of our vacation before heading home.

We arrived on a Saturday night - 6 of us - hungry but with no reservation. Although they were completely booked, they kindly offered us their heated patio and we had an amazing meal.
