Services

You don’t have to go through this alone. I am here to listen and understand your struggles. We can open conversations about what makes you feel depressed and identify your feelings and thoughts. We can do work around your depressed states and what happens before and after them. We can share a space that allows you to feel however you want. It is okay to feel sadness, there is no pressure at The Healing Space to put on a happy face and pretend. Let’s do this together!

Acute mental disorders include bipolar, borderline personality disorder and schizophrenia. Living with any of these disorders can be challenging. I have years of experience working two psychiatric hospitals as I have a vested interest in assuring that people with an acute mental illness get treated fairly, with dignity, and respect. Psychotic symptoms can be challenging, and the medications can be confusing. I offer for us to work together to help you maintain predictability in life, and work together to help you maintain your healthy baseline. I will take the time to hear your thoughts and work through distortions, and help you make goals for the future because the world is your oyster! Having an acute mental illness does not have to hold you back. Let’s work on this together, we got this!

We can work together to learn about how your body reacts to anxiety. Learning to identify how stress, tension and worry manifests in your body is important to identifying pre states of anxiety. When we learn to identify the pre states of anxiety we can then learn to control the anxiety itself. Thoughts, feelings, and actions are all interconnected. We can work together to identify where the negative thoughts are, when they happen, and how they make you feel so that you can take charge over your anxiety and master it.

Trauma exists by reliving traumatic events when you are triggered by internal or external stimuli. Together we can work toward you being in your optimal arousal. You will learn to control aspects that induce your mid brain or animal instincts so that you can think of the trauma and not have the trauma response. The goal of trauma therapy is to separate the negative feelings about the trauma from the trauma itself so that when you think of the trauma, you do not feel despair. Together we will take slow steps to identify what makes you feel safe and identify your boundaries as you learn tools for self regulation.

Feel free to be yourself and live your best life. Live without restrictions and ties to addiction. Follow your dreams and live your days without compulsive addictive thoughts. Together we will work to motivate you to stay free from your addictive behaviour and light a path of healing to rebuild ruptured relationships, strengthen your social responsibilities, increase social opportunities, and set SMART goals. We will work to identify the reasons for your addictive behaviour and together build healthy coping strategies for cravings and conflict resolution.

Deep bonds are priceless and provide it us with wonderful feelings of acceptance and belonging. Taking time to work on your relationship with a lover, family member, or friend is a beautiful act of respect and dignity for the relationship. When we have beautiful bonds in our life that we cherish it is important that we care for the bonds carefully and attentively to preserve them. Together we will work on increasing trust, respect, dignity, and honesty so that you can fully enjoy your relationships.
