Absolutely delicious. What a lovely restaurant. I ordered a quarter pound chicken and it was perfectly cooked. Crispy skin and juicy inside, loved the bbq seasoning. Definitely use some of their chipotle sauce that is served at the table. The beans were also to die for, so full of flavor! coleslaw was good, not overly creamy more leafy than most. Probably healthier that way!My corn bread was a little brittle and dry. very small as well. I would re-do the recipe for that. It was the low point of my meal but everything else was sooo good. If they let you substitue it for more coleslaw or a pickle I would do that. My sister shared some fries with me, they are killer with the chipotle sauce!I will be back for sure. The menu is fantastic I want to try everything! More...

Amazing onion rings, sweet potato fries and cauliflower cheese soup. Those were the favorites of the night. The nachos and poutine were good, I also had the chicken tenders which are real chicken and fried, they were great. Service was quick and amazing. The peach cheesecake, brownie, and snickers pie were good desserts depending on your taste buds! Brownie was extremely chocolatey as well as the pie. Cheesecake is not my style but cheesecake lovers at the table loved it! More...

This is my go to for BBQ chicken or ribs. Also an added bonus of being certified gluten free. I usually head in and get the quarter chicken and ribs with fries of course. They bring over bottles of sauce. There are three- the BBQ sauce and the chipotle mayo  are my favs( they also bring over ketchup but I never use it) The chicken is tender, juicy and perfectly cooked. The BBQ sauce is so delicious and house made. I always add more to my chicken or ribs. The fries (gluten free guaranteed) are also fresh cut and deep fried to perfection, crisp on the outside and tender middles. I go between the chipotle mayo and bbq sauce. You also get cornbread (not gluten free) and a coleslaw. Both yummy. I usually top off my meal with a slice cheesecake-there are usually a couple of desserts to choose. And they always have a gluten free option. More...

I'd give The Foolish Chicken a 3.5, but Yelp doesn't allow half stars so I'm rounding up to 4.I've been to The Foolish Chicken twice now and both times I found the food good, but no wow factor.  The first time was many years ago and I got the quarter chicken meal. I remember thinking it was good, but I didn't think it was anything too special. Recently some friends of my husband's and mine wanted to try The Foolish Chicken because they had never been before, since our last visit wasn't objectionable, we were game.I had the Power Salad ($16) which had mixed greens, pulled chicken, sweet potatoes, red cabbage, boiled egg, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, feta cheese, dried cranberries, and avocado, in a blueberry vinaigrette. I asked for the dressing on the side but unfortunately the salad came already dressed :( It had too much dressing for my tastes, but thankfully it wasn't overly oily. I found the portion size a bit small for the price, but overall the salad was enjoyable. Ingredients were fresh. The avocado was creamy and a beautiful green, no black rotten parts. I did notice that there were 2 types of pumpkin seeds in the salad: regular pumpkin seeds, and the larger and darker green European pumpkin seeds. I found this kind of cool :)My husband had the pulled pork sandwich with fries ($13.99). The fries are shaped like half circles. I had a few fries and they were crispy and good. I had a bit of the pulled pork as well and it too was good. Our friend had the Dr. Pepper pulled chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries ($12.99 + $1 side upgrade). I did appreciate that upgrading to sweet potato fries was only $1. Some places charge up to $5 which I think is a complete rip off, especially considering you usually get less sweet potato fries than regular fries per order. Thank you Foolish Chicken for not ripping off your customers :) Our other friend had the TFC Club Sandwich with fries ($12.99). My husband and I split the Snicker pie ($8) for dessert and our friends split the Cheesecake Special of the day, which was a Bacon Cheesecake (!) ($8.50). Our pie was basically a Snickers bar in pie form with the addition of sponge toffee bits sprinkled on top. It was alright.Service was friendly. Decor is cute and cozy. The place is in an old converted house. It's on Holland so street parking only, no private parking lot.Overall, The Foolish Chicken is a good place with chicken-focused food. More...

I've been to the Foolish Chicken a few times, often enough that I'm surprised I haven't written a review before... It's time to change that! This restaurant gets very busy at lunch, and it gets loud in here with so many people talking. The folks who work in Tunney's Pasture NEED this place and others like it, especially this week - the cafeteria in one of the buildings has been shut down for a couple of weeks due to water damage; they are now offering a limited service (no hot food). But we still need to eat!The Foolish Chicken is well known for their chicken. Surprised? I'm not! We went there with a group of 15, on a day when they had another large group seated upstairs, as well as ours. The signature dish must be chicken fingers, because people knew they wanted this dish before they got here. I was surprised at the size of that plate when they brought it out! Heaped with breaded and fried pieces of chicken that were bigger than your thumb, and coleslaw and fries. I on the other hand ordered quiche which came with salad and coleslaw (about $13.00). This was a tasty dish that I would order again. One person at our table ordered a salad with walnuts and spinach and a bit of cabbage. She said it was tasty and filling, but we were both surprised that there were no tomatoes or much else in the way of veggies. I'm so glad she was happy with the salad!Service for this large group was excellent! They managed to bring all the food out at relatively the same time, with no mistakes that I was aware of.If their signature dish is chicken, they are renowned for their deserts! There was a very reasonable list of offerings posted on the blackboard, however, none of us ordered any today!  So, I will have to revisit just so that I can take the time to enjoy a desert. Next time! That's the ticket... More...

Great place! My family decided to celebrate the end of the semester with a nice dinner. The Foolish Chicken is one of our favourite joint in Hintonburg. I ordered the soup of the day which turned out to be a lovely curry sweet potato potage. The hint of coconut was pleasant and the heat level was just enough to tingle but not overwhelm. I opted for the chicken garden salad as my main with the house dressing. Nice portion and very healthy. The other members of my family ordered a miscellaneous array of chicken dishes ( with chicken in the name, it's a must). The ribs are also very meaty with a perfect amount of sauce. To cap this wonderful meal, we shared two desserts : Snickers pie and Coconut rice pudding. That pie was divine but I felt like the portion could have been slightly larger( I can be glutton sometimes) The service was very attentive and personable however there was a bit of a long wait between the appetizers and the mains. When in the Wellington Village area with my wife one afternoon, we were looking for a laid back place to have lunch and I came across the Foolish Chicken in my interweb research. It comes across as a Swiss Chalet with a more local, less corporate feel to it. The menu is focused on chicken and ribs, but with some more unique menu items and less of a cookie cutter decor. The pork riblets, Dr. Pepper pulled chicken sandwich and daily quiche are some of the more interesting items, while things like poutine, onion rings and a cheeseburger are standbys for the less adventurous. The riblets were especially tempting, but I wanted to see what their namesake protein was like, so I went with their quarter chicken meal, choosing dark meat, and baked beans as my side. There were a few other tables occupied when we were there, but most were already eating so it didn't take long for our food to arrive. My plate seemed a little on the empty side as the large plate had a not particularly large drumstick and thigh, and the cornbread was just a mini-muffin. That said it was still an alright deal for $12, but needs some plating refinement. The beans on the other hand were very plentiful, filling up a good-sized casserole dish that dominated the plate. They were tasty as well, with a strong flavour of cloves, which my wife helped me identify. Not a traditional BBQ profile, but it was earthy and hearty and the beans themselves were cooked perfectly as well.I don't know if my chicken was foolish, but I certainly wasn't for buying it. Tender and moist, the slightly smoky and sweet sauce kicked up the flavour a notch. The coleslaw was nice and crunchy from the dominant cabbage and had an extra pop on the tastebuds from what may have been celery seed. The cornbread was okay, and although it was quite cute, it was disappointingly small. We were in and out quicker than expected, which was good for further strolling around the area. It's hard not to like a place with a name like The Foolish Chicken, especially when they're serving up solid food at decent prices. Hopefully I can stop by again in the future to try out some of those appetizing sounding apps. More...

You should visit this place just for the desserts. Seriously, best rice pudding I've ever had, hands down! It's not too sweet and the coconut crumble on top just takes it to another level. It's also dairy AND gluten free which is a rare find in a BBQ restaurant. The cheesecakes are also fantastic, and as expected the chicken is cooked to perfection. I tried the baby back ribs this time and found them tender but the sauce is on the sour side and a tad too runny. Think more vinegar less ketchup in terms of BBQ sauce. Their "fries" are more like very thin wedges which aren't as satisfying, but the waiter was hilarious and overall I had a great experience.
