Why is it so important for businesses to hire a great accountant?
Because it will make their lives easier. For one, businesses are so occupied with the work load they have, so often they do not take their times in order to calculate how much revenue is coming in versus how much expenses they have. Two, having an accountant will make them understand the financials in greater detail and that they could give them advice on how they could improve their business.
What do you love most about your job?
Being able to interact with people and help them out with their needs. It is a pleasure to me when I am able to educate a client on different aspects as I am doing their work. For example, doing a clients taxes, they might not fully understand why they may owe money to the government, so by assisting them and giving them tips so next year instead of owing money they could obtain a refund.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Hello to all those reading this,
My name is Johnson Asibuo and I am the founder of Studiobookkeeping.
It all started in 2017, when I was taking my income tax course at Shadd Health & Business Centre. At that time, I was working at FedEx as a package handler part time while being a full time accountant student. I started to develop a passion for doing income taxes when I began to realize how much fun I was having and how easy it became to me. When I realized that I could do this on my own, I bought my tax software and started doing it for other people. I was really surprised by the amount of people that trusted me and wanted me to do their taxes.
In 2020, I realized how quickly the company was growing thanks to all my loyal clients. In order for me to grow this company long term, I had to invest more into it. So, I decided to purchase a stronger computer, software, and invest more into marketing. So far, it has paid off since my business is growing rapidly and the fact that I have received nothing but positive feedback for my company.
A part from doing income taxes, I also do bookkeeping. The reason why I call my business “Studiobookkeeping” is because when I offered the bookkeeping service, I was only attracting artist and athletes. Later on as the company continued to grow, I realized that I was not only attracting artist and athletes but also individuals and small businesses. So I did not want to confuse my current customers with a different business name, so I decided to stick with this name.
I plan to one day open up my own firm and make this business a full time job for myself and hire other people who may have the desire to join me.
