Q&As

At Seal Swimming we empower swimmers to reach their personal potential by providing the highest quality swim training in a fun, safe and rewarding environment.

We are driven by our vision to provide the best all round swim training experience, engage our community, inspire our swimmers.

In 2009, ‘SEAL Swim Club’ was founded by Simon Easton, as a means to keep the Toronto District School Board’s ‘W.A. Porter Collegiate’ swimming pool from permanent closure.

From its inception, ‘SEAL Swim Club’ acted as a bridge between learn to swim classes and elite competitive swim training. The main objective was to provide high quality training for swimmers interested in competing, but not looking for the high commitment of an elite swim club, while the underlying objective was to foster the love of swimming as a lifelong sport and activity.

After incorporating ‘Simon Easton Aquatics Ltd.’ in 2016, the company adopted the trade name ‘SEAL Swimming’, to encompass all aspects and age groups of swimming development.

At Seal Swimming we believe that swimming is essential for children, to build strong bodies, healthy minds, self-esteem, social skills and community values, as well as water safety awareness.

We provide an individualized swim experience to all our students, empowering swimmers to reach their personal potential by providing the highest quality swim training in a fun, safe and rewarding environment.

Baby Seal Foundations (Ages 0-18 months) has been specially designed to teach parents and babies all the skills they will need to know to be safe and have fun in and around the water.

Baby Seal Fundamentals (Ages 18-36 months) is a continuation of the Foundations stages, designed to teach fundamental movement skills in the water, while giving parents and toddlers the confidence to become independent swimmers.

The Junior Seal program is a transitional program made up of eight groups for children ages three to twelve. The program is split into Independent 1 to 4 (thirty minute classes with teachers in-water) and Development 1 to 4 (sixty minute classes with teachers on-deck). Swimmers learn the skills and technique necessary to perform the four swim strokes: freestyle (front crawl), backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly, as well as competitive style starts and turns.

The program is linked to the Active Start and FUNdamentals stages of the Long-Term Development In Sport and Physical Activity framework. Upon completion of the Junior Seal programs, swimmers will have the ability to perform a fluent and legal 100 metre Individual Medley.

Adult Water Confidence classes are designed for adults with no previous swimming experience, nervous swimmers, or those who have had a negative experience in the past which has halted their swimming journey.

This program will give swimmers the confidence to get into the pool safely, be able to move through the water with confidence, control breathing in the pool and not panic if splashed.

The Learn Freestyle program is designed for adults who can't yet swim a stroke of freestyle or perhaps can swim 25m but then have to stop for a rest.

The program progressively builds the stroke step by step to give you the chance to develop every individual element such as breathing, rotation and arm recovery. The process gradually brings the stroke together and develops your coordination whilst you are wearing fins (flippers) before removing them at the end.

Develop stroke technique and competitive swim skills with our squad system for youth who have completed the Development levels or who have attended a swim assessment. Adult squads are also available.
